What you answered with is a few examples of actions compared over 1 million law enforcement officers in this country whereas the op was about violence commited by OWS.

How hard is it to figure out this thread is about OWS?

Must be pretty hard.

You are in more danger walking around Chicago than OWS.

No matter where people are there will always be some who are drug users, some who are violent, some who are thieves. It is impossible to escape..

There are rapists in the Catholic church.. there are thieves who are police men.

Take any group of people and a small percent will always be criminals of a noteworthy nature.

Most of the violent crimes I'd wager are the low-lives who live in the area who are attracted to large groups of people where their crimes are less noticeable in the sea of people.

Let's blame it on OWS.. like the racists in the Tea Party.. Everyone in the Tea Party is a racist because of that small group of them. Let's throw that annoying baby out with the dirty bathwater. Yea! you show that baby!

Explanation: St*rred!

I agree that they are NOT being represented by the Occupy Movement UNLESS they themselves join that bandwagon!

BUT they still are represented by their own LOCAL, STATE and FEDERAL representatives and so they are not without some recourse ... it's called a VOTE!

Personal Disclosure: This has been a fruitfull discussion and I have Flagged the thread!

It's always good talking to you OL.

Even if we are on the opposite sides of the argument sometimes

Oh, I know how violent they can be. There's quite a community of them just outside the rez I grew up on. We had run-ins quite often. I neither support nor condone their actions in that sense.

But being that this was neither violence nor the advocation of violence. Also, just because he has a criminal record does not mean he has a felony record. If his record is misdemeanors that do not include spousal or child abuse, then his right to own and carry a firearm would not be revoked.

I'd like to reiterate my disclaimer here: I'm not defending this guy, his organization, or the OWS movement, in terms of character or in any other actions they take outside of this instance of exercising their Constitutional rights, which I fully support.

Apples and oranges.

The Tea Party, while accused of being racist(never mind that they voted for black conservatives in overwhelmingly white districts) do NOT have the criminal track record found at OWS. Not by a long shot.

Hell it's more like apples and Volkswagens.

I agree. Tea Party rallies are generally short (an afternoon) and they're done. I would love to see them try and occupy an area for two months with zero crime. Most of the crimes committed were by criminals who infiltrated the camps to take advantage of the situation [reports coming out that criminals are being directed to Zuccotti Park by Police Officers].
The list in the OP is no different than the list of crimes that happen in any city at any given time. New York had 250 (+/-) rapes in October (citywide). It's a crime endemic to all major cities, not just New York, and the fact that these protesters are willing to brave the threat of danger by criminals as well as police, is a testament to their determination.

NYPD seems to have crossed a line in recent days, as the park has taken on a darker tone with unsteady and unstable types suddenly seeming to emerge from the woodwork. Two different drunks I spoke with last week told me they’d been encouraged to “take it to Zuccotti” by officers who’d found them drinking in other parks, and members of the community affairs working group related several similar stories they’d heard while talking with intoxicated or aggressive new arrivals.

The NYPD’s press office declined to comment on the record about any such policy, but it seems like a logical tactic from a Bloomberg administration that has done its best to make things difficult for the occupation — a way of using its openness against it.

The Tea party was a political movement.. not a protest.. If you got those same conservatives to protest or occupy anything with their legally concealed firearms.. things might get interesting. In fact that is what we need to happen. We need a mix of the tea party and OWS for the movement to be most successful.

The Tea Party had nearly 1000 days of protests under their belts before they turned their anger into votes.

YOU asked for examples of police misconduct and I responded with those requested examples.

I did not switch to the subject of law enforcement You did.

That was a poorly thought out post on Your part and both You and I know it. I gave You what you requested and that was all so why don't we just drop it and get back on topic.

.. and how did their protests turn out? I think we need to do a little more than gather out in a field with like-minded people to change this country and have more of an impact.

Fabrications and government instigators.
We already know that police departments are sending criminals into the camps to do just these things!

This site has been infiltrated by government propagandists spewing fascist, police state trash.

hate speech.

I knew it was only a matter of time before people who believe in BS like "hate speech" started using the term in political ways.

What next, hate thought legislation?

OWS is not above reproach.

It is nothing. The government has gotten more out of control each year. We need drastic measures.

Our country is about to economically collapse.
