The petition was short 8,000 signatures! Why did they feel that they had to respond to THIS petition, and not the others (the ones that would be the most important in the minds of the majority of Americans) that are also short of signatures.

Seems kind of odd doesn't it?

Not really. Same sex marriage, oil, education, whatever, is a political quagmire.

Denying alien existance is so much easier. Doesnt matter how you answer it or if its the truth, only the conspiracy theorists care and/or notice.

We know that won't be answered.
The petition more then likely is backed by oil money.
Making sure the Oman behaves the right way to oil money.

its a real shame that when this all started way back in the 40s they decided to play the nothing going on here3 folks game, now 70yrs later still the same thing, with technology being what it is tho, more and more evidence is coming to light to paint a difforent picture, the internet has some great stuff if you can see what is truth and what is not.

What began with a sighting in Henderson, Nevada where a man reported seeing a large ā€˜Vā€™-shaped craft with six lights on its underside pass overhead spread into different towns of Arizona and finally in Phoenix. Every one who saw the flying object described it in the exact same way. The UFO seemed to settle in Phoenix (hence the name of the incident) hovering over the city for around two hours. Hundreds of people witnessed the strange thing in the sky that night of March 13th 1997. The U.S. military insist that the lights were nothing more than flares launched from an A-10 Warthog aircraft. However, they are not fooling the residents of Phoenix who believe otherwise. Even Fife Symington who was the Governor of Arizona at the time believes otherwise.

And only the people who do more than just accepting the mainstream news stories know that the flare drop was done about an hour and a half after the sighting ended. It's just a shame that no one (not the governor or any of the top ufologists) filed FOIA requests for FAA and weather radar data within the 15-day deadline. It seems the only quick thinking was on the part of someone in the U.S. government, who may or may not have ordered that flare drop in a timely manner but seems to have at just the right moment tipped off Dr. Lynned Kitei, who took that video of the flare drop from her patio, using a tripod, and got it to the TV station in time.
