Again, I'm not defending him...I'm simply staying neutral. I don't feel we know the whole story yet, and she certainly is a handful. Under the circumstances, I think that situation would try even the best of parents. There's a lot we already know, and even more we don't. It would be wise to stay impartial until the story comes out. At worst, he is guilty of losing self control, but as defined by the law, he did not abuse her. His cursing was far more damaging, in my opinion.

There's a question I ask myself time and time again Gseven - in this life of ours - are there any absolutes?

I have considered myself the Queen of the Grey Area often enough - but there always comes a time when you have to make a choice

She's a handful? Her father is a handful - and we know the full story - we have the video

Her own dad - a full grown man - beat her with a belt

so - what's the rest of the story matter?

I am sorry but this kid in the video is the least of my worries. It's way over-blown.

a) Beating a child teaches them nothing but to fear their parents and that violence is an appropriate response to situations in life. Also, it destroys their trust in their parents, which affects their interactions, beliefs, and behaviors with all other aspects of their life in the future.
b) The girl has CEREBRAL PALSY, it's bad enough to abuse any child but especially one who is handicapped. A physically able child might have some ability to fight back (they shouldn't have to at all, but for argument's sake...) but this girl has limited mobility!
c) This guy is a JUDGE, employed to decide other people's fates via the criminal justice system when they step into his courtroom.

Judges are appointed because they're supposed to have proven their ability to be objective - meaning that they are experienced with separating their own emotional responses to the cases coming through their courtroom from an ability to be non-biased and just based on an assessment of the facts. If he has no problem with child abuse (and come on, if you beat your own defenseless, HANDICAPPED child, clearly you're biased. I don't care if this is a logically fallible argument), it's no stretch to surmise he also wouldn't be in regards to matters of physical abuse and assault. He can't be trusted to render impartial sentences when he's not exactly a pillar of objectivity and rationality with his own d*mn family.

Courtroom judges SHOULD be held to a higher standard than average citizens anyway - and this crosses every line by a mile. He needs to be criminally prosecuted and immediately removed from his position. Thank goodness for technology, otherwise this SOB probably wouldn't have been caught.

That's all I wanted to know, you're all for government intervention in protecting child abusers. But government intervention in protecting the victim of the abuse is government intervention and shouldn't be allowed.
