I have four words for them: GO TO ANOTHER SCHOOL..... Geez, it isn't hard.

It's a Catholic school, and it's private. As long as there is no blatant discrimination like there was at, say, Bob Jones, they have no legs to stand on.

Furthermore, it's a Christian school. This is like an Atheist going to Bob Jones; it doesn't make any sense at all. Did they expect a Catholic school to not have Christian symbols?

My point exactly. It would be a like a fundamentalist Christian walking into a New age tabernacle and wanting them to take down their yin-yang symbol and pentagram. It doesn't make sense. If you do not want to be exposed to something, then damn it to hell, don't expose yourself to it!!! It's that simple.

Why is it that you think you have a say in this schools
programs or regulations; are you paying tuition at this school ?
In other words, your input is mute.
Haven't you heard of non-denominational prayer rms ?
Don't they have such in hospitals, military etc.?

Do you go to this school? I'm going to go ahead and assume that you don't, yet you keep on adding your opinion to this thread. Hypocrisy much? No one is claiming that they "have a say" in the school's programs - they are just offering their opinions on the subject - sheesh.
So are you saying that if you are not a member of something you have no right to have an opinion about it? Sorry comrade, but ATS is filled with opinions about everything...WTF are you doing here if you don't think we are allowed to have an opinion about some group/organization/club/etc. if we don't belong to it?

Interesting that a Muslem would want to go to a private Catholic school? Take your money and go elsewhere if you are that offended. All I see here is a feeble attempt to rid our free society of our Christian values.

It's like a Muslem joining a Christian church and complaining that they are offended.

Says who? All it takes is one person to influence the minds of many. Haven't you ever seen the movie 12 angry men? If you haven't it's about 12 people that are part of a jury. Everyone wants to call the man guilty and make it a day but 1 person holds their ground and eventually convinces the others to change their vote. Another, more recent is The Runaway Jury.

The best weapon is the silent one and William Cooper's Pale Horse talks a ton about just how easy it is to do if you have patience.

Basically people are stupid and can be controlled with ease by implanting small changes on a grand scale...

They are at Catholic /catholic institutions. They cannot expect them to catered to non-catholic practices.
If they chose to study at one of these, then they should be prepared to accept the inconveniences placed on them. No, not placed on them by the institution, that their own customs place on them.

I attend a Catholic university and the Muslims I interact with understand this fact.

ShortMemory, remember this, ok!
Even if you are not a fan of us Christians, you should not take the other side just because. Try to place yourself in both sets of shoes in the future. Try to understand the logic you are arguing against before you place your foot in your mouth. Just some friendly advice is all.

Catholic schools traditionally have much better educations than public schools. They are at the school because it is a good school and will give them a good education. But just because it's a Catholic run school doesn't mean that Muslims shouldn't be given a place to pray.

I repeat: at my Catholic school, there is a Multi Faith prayer room and associations for all different types of religions. It is pure dogmatic bigotry that makes the administration of this school not allow for Muslims to have a space of prayer. Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves, which means, if we have a prayer space, then our neighboring Muslims should also be allowed to have a prayer space.

So ask them to come to your school and you can deal with them...

Make sure to come back and give quarterly updates. Who knows in a few months you might be engaged to one... then will your faith lie with Allah or Jesus?

If you add a bit of oil to water the water becomes tainted... Just sayin...

How exactly is this discrimination? College is elective schooling. The students can choose any college they wish to attend.

In my opinion, its not discrimination. I agree with you that they can choose to go to school anywhere they want to go, but chose to go to a catholic school, which to me, shows that they knew exactly what they were doing and perhaps the intentions were not to gain an education, but more than likely to stir up trouble. Thats why I had the term discrimination in quotations.

It's interesting you mention that because my initial reaction to reading the story is that these Muslims deliberately chose a Catholic school to cause a big stir.

Yeah I guess both religions could have kisses and made up a long time ago with simply : Acceptance.

Catholics don't pray to statues, and are not required to face statues either. Statues are simply decorations.

Maybe not required, but I see catholics praying to statues all the time. It's the symbolism that's important.

Muslims on the other hand are required to worship a ROCK! A fallen meteorite to be specific. It's their Kabbah in Mecca.

It's not only a rock, it's place of spiritual meaning. I haven't been, but I bet it might feel special to go to a place where so much energy is being moved constantly.

The rights of Muslim is getting annoying...

Canada especially Toronto have high multicultural population and Muslims getting special rights over so many other culture and religion is unfair.

Yes, yes and yes

Even if I do believe that faith shouldn't be tainted by religion...
I respect all religions and people, they should too. Not hard to understand.

i say good on them! for too long christianity has had a stranglehold on our society and its time something was done about it

You are as bad as the "brainwashers" and I say that as an atheist (humanist variety) who despairs at the religious beliefs of others sometimes BUT it was a catholic college. Any student knows this beforehand and it is their choice to attend and in doing so they accept whatever rules, regulations, environment, wallpaper, uniform etc etc the college imposes.

This is a case of narrow minded muslims complaining hoping a PC person will jump and down and defend them to get things changed for their benefit and theirs alone.

Sorry but you are wrong. Now if christian imagery is being forced upon you in public place then that is a different matter altogether.

He is also there to split the school, it has happened in Italy and it is going on in hospitals but they want their prayer rooms or else. He is just another pawn made to infiltrate that culture.

It is obvious why they hate the cross or can not stand because apparently their version of Jesus is going to come and smash the cross and he see's it as offensive along with the Jews and Christians. Explan that version to Jesus to a Christian or a person with some religious knowledge and we get...

Secondly it makes people want to sort this argument out lets says athiests who say both religions should make up and and join forces, do you know what that sounds like to a Catholic or Christian since scripture warns about this?

This is what the Koran says

Qur'an 4:157 "'We [Jews] killed the Messiah, Jesus,' but they killed him not, nor crucified him. It appeared so to them (as the resemblance of Jesus was put over another man and they killed that man). Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself. Those who differ with this version are full of doubts. They have no knowledge and follow nothing but conjecture. For surely they killed him not."

Did anyone in Arabia in the year 600AD witness this?

Qur'an 5:33 "The punishment for those who wage war against Allah and His Prophet and make mischief in the land, is to murder them, crucify them, or cut off a hand and foot on opposite sides...their doom is dreadful. They will not escape the fire, suffering constantly."

They hate the cross and they would hang or put you on one for believing in it so if Jesus was on earth what would the Islamic prophet have done? I say he would have crucified him.

Even if these quotes are wrong because they translate in English does that mean they hang and imprison Christian families in the Middle East is just coincidence?

It is not only that they want crosses moved from your graves, they will make up a big story about how time has moved on and how their dead should be put above yours. Not blaming all Muslims but some just want conquest and who is going to stop it?

Nevermind asking them to go to one of the many Muslim colleges out there, if they want to feel comfortable... How about asking them to go live in a Muslim COUNTRY if they wanna feel comfortable... oh, you mean they enjoy all of our freedoms that make them so comfortable, like the freedoms of speech that even ALLOWS them to complain? but its just not good enough? What's wrong with praying outside? If it rains, or snows, oh well... They are supposed to be so dedicated to God, right? How long does prayer take? There should be some kind of enjoyment in suffering for your God, is there not? I know I enjoy going without when I hand all my money and possessions to the poor, knowing that I made some of Gods children have a little bit better of a day. Where's their dedication? Endure the catholic symbols or endure the weather, you choose. Your god will appreciate your dedication...

I should enroll In a Muslim collage then complain about their head/face wraps, see how well that goes. probably not so well considering their laws...

According to Muslim jurists, the following legal ordinances must be enforced on Zimmis
(Christians and Jews alike) who reside among Muslims:
1)
Zimmis are not allowed to build new churches, temples, or synagogues. They are
allowed to renovate old churches or houses of worship provided they do not allow to
add any new construction. "Old churches" are those which existed prior to Islamic
conquests and are included in a peace accord by Muslims. Construction of any church,
temple, or synagogue in the Arab Peninsula (Saudi Arabia) is prohibited. It is the land
of the Prophet and only Islam should prevail there. Yet, Muslims, if they wish, are
permitted to demolish all non-Muslim houses of worship in any land they conquer.
2)
Zimmis are not allowed to pray or read their sacred books out loud at home or in
churches, lest Muslims hear their prayers.
3)
Zimmis are not allowed to print their religious books or sell them in public places and
markets. They are allowed to publish and sell them among their own people, in their
churches and temples.
4)
Zimmis are not allowed to install the cross on their houses or churches since it is a
symbol of infidelity.
5)
Zimmis are not permitted to broadcast or display their ceremonial religious rituals on
radio or television or to use the media or to publish any picture of their religious
ceremonies in newspaper and magazines.
6)
Zimmis are not allowed to congregate in the streets during their religious festivals;
rather, each must quietly make his way to his church or temple.
7)
Zimmis are not allowed to join the army unless there is indispensable need for them in
which case they are not allowed to assume leadership positions but are considered
mercenaries.

Muslims specialise in complaining. Their ignorance and arrogance make them think they are special and their needs transcend those of any others in their eyes.

They do this crap all over the planet. infest other countries and once there is enough of them they start trying to force their outdated backward idiotic religion on other cultures. As I said, they are so bloody arrogant they feel a kind of entitlement to do this, as they look down their noses at all non-muslims.

These people have no right to dictate to the rest of us. Most of us feel uncomfortable around God crap I think. In this day and age it denotes ignorance and stupidty, although a lot of us play along with this nonsense because it is still slightly unpopular to not buy into the childish superstition. We certainly dont whinge and whine and have all the stupid crosses taken down. That's the difference between us and Muslims. Live and let live. Muslims dont seem to have any respect for others whatsoever. Selfish and arrogant.

As someone pointed out, try going to some Muslim country and try to force Christianity or complain about muslim stuff and see what happens. You'd be murdered in 5 minutes.

They are attending a Catholic University. Did they not see the crucifix's, paintings of Jesus, and statues of The Virgin Mother before enrolling?

It's like going to a strip club and being offended by nudity
