Contrary to previous posters, Muslims and Catholics indeed
have a lot in common.
Muslims see Catholics as people of the book and are
part of the Abraham belief.
I'm surprised that so much ignorance
still exists in that some posters didn't know this.

amazing
op is about the prayer room facilities.
The flaming is about Muslims not wanting to face a idol
statue of Mary when praying. I'm sure that there are
plenty of other empty rooms to facilitate prayer, but then
media wouldn't have their flamed story.

btw
Only if you are actually paying tuition and are a member
of this college, or one of their parents should your opinion count.

They don't have much in common at all.
Abrahamic faiths include Judaism and all the Christian faiths as well.
Catholics don't pray to statues, and are not required to face statues either. Statues are simply decorations.

Muslims on the other hand are required to worship a ROCK! A fallen meteorite to be specific. It's their Kabbah in Mecca. Their prayers insist they face Mecca and that Kabbah as well as make a pilgrimage to kiss the thing once in their lifetime.

So no, their prayer room requirements (outdoors without shoes) are not the same.

You folks need to wake up.

This has nothing to do with prayer or space of making a Muslim group. It's part of their plan to infiltrate every part of our society so they can take over our country.

Study the tactics of how Muslims have for CENTURIES taken over other countries - this is the exact way they do it.

They use deception that they believe is granted the O.K. for in their holy books. They get the common man on their side then they infiltrate slowly, for many years building till they can take over without a hitch or bullet being fired.

Muslims have been in this country for many years, and you see just now these types of things when you did not see them in years past - it's an escalation as part of their plan.

If you don't believe me study the military tactics of Muslims. The proof is right there all throughout history. Undeniable.

I attend a Catholic College, and we have a multi-faith prayer room on campus for Muslims to pray in. We also sponsor a Muslim Student Association, as well as a Jewish Student Association, a Latter Day Saints Association, Protestant worship services, and Zen Buddhist meditation.

True Catholics try to provide a space for people of all faiths to practice their belief b/c true Catholics follow Jesus' rule to 'love thy neighbor' and to treat the foreigner (anyone heard of the Good Samaritan?) with kindness. We are all on a different road to the same God. I am wholeheartedly in support of the Muslims wanting a worship space on campus, even as a Christian, and I see no reason why the campus cannot support them for the sake of unity among people of faith, especially in an increasingly secular world.

Jeez, get a grip. Muslims comprise .8 percent of the US population. They are not going to infiltrate and take over, I am sorry but you have been brainwashed by a xenophobic media that wants you to believe it's okay for us to infiltrate MUSLIM COUNTRIES for their oil... erm, I mean, democracy...

Yes, SUPPOSEDLY it was built by Abraham.

And, no, I do not personally believe the Ark of the Covenant is inside it.

Did you know the Islamic people were making pilgrimages there before Mohammed was born?

The point is, they don't need to be demanding some Catholic University, nor any other secular or private university convert to their religion. They can go outside, face their Mecca and bash their foreheads on the ground anywhere. They don't need a special place for that. But; when they insist on OTHER religions conforming their interior construction, customs, or decorations to their own religion ... that's religious intolerance.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Otherwise, don't go to Rome.

Catholic schools traditionally have much better educations than public schools. They are at the school because it is a good school and will give them a good education. But just because it's a Catholic run school doesn't mean that Muslims shouldn't be given a place to pray.

I repeat: at my Catholic school, there is a Multi Faith prayer room and associations for all different types of religions. It is pure dogmatic bigotry that makes the administration of this school not allow for Muslims to have a space of prayer. Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves, which means, if we have a prayer space, then our neighboring Muslims should also be allowed to have a prayer space.

Do you think they should build a wing for Them and while they are at it build an altar to Satan as well for all those who worship the devil?

Do you think Christ would actually agree to allowing others to follow a false prophets teachings?

Do not bother telling me you are even a Catholic if you believe he would. He is God and his commandments state very clearly his position on worship...

Politics have no place in my religious views so you can go kiss butt and play nice all you want, but do not bother to attempt to lead me while you are blind...

Why is it that you think you have a say in this schools
programs or regulations; are you paying tuition at this school ?
In other words, your input is mute.
Haven't you heard of non-denominational prayer rms ?
Don't they have such in hospitals, military etc.?

I guess none of you making the comments about it being a catholic university read the actual article. The university stated: “Catholic University is committed to the religious freedom and dignity of all members of its community.” If this is true, than the muslim students have a right to ask that some things around the university change to make it more comfortable for muslim students. They have a mission statement they need to back it up. Im totally behind those students.

They are so intolerant that should a Muslim convert to any other faith, it's a death sentence if they do not recant and return to Islam.

Should the college make a concession to these students by providing them with a special Muslim space, the answer is NO. Reason for the no answer is due to the fact it is a CATHOLIC COLLEGE not a Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu or any other faiths college. Am I a Catholic, no and I wouldn't complain about there symbols nor demand a special space either.

Well-said. And to dig a bit deeper into these facts, if this takeover is to be done covertly, as in without weapons and battles to attract attention in countries which aren't Islamic, it would need to move slowly, methodically, and would require a great deal of patience as our society is slowly chipped away. The degree to which reproduction is emphasized and practiced will speed this process. Their sense of entitlement is astonishing. One only has to examine the social tides influencing French politics:

A slice of how it affects French citizens: link

And although France is a secular country, Sarkozy proposed opening a dialogue on how the now second-largest religion in France is, quite simply, undermining their culture:
multiculturalism isn't working

i say good on them! for too long christianity has had a stranglehold on our society and its time something was done about it

Your spelling and obsession for Mel Gibson make me uncomfortable. If you are saying these things of Christian then you are saying them about Muslims. This is a Christian based country, why wouldn't Christianity play a major role in our everyday lives. To me it is another agitation to instigate the two religions against one another. People from both religions need to unite as one voice to God and refuse to go at each other the ways it seems we are being led to. I have no problem with Muslims, we both pray to god.

First let me say i'm not fond of organized religion, ALL OF THEM!

The rights of Muslim is getting annoying...

Some schools in Canada have washrooms only for Muslim so they can bath/pray idk what. But this is not fair, they get special treatments and what not, also there was a dispute which the Muslim community lost because they tried to convert the ENTIRE cafeteria into a prayer area. Canada especially Toronto have high multicultural population and Muslims getting special rights over so many other culture and religion is unfair.
