Yes, because as long as you find it in bad taste it is wrong
edit on 22-10-2011 by TsukiLunar because: (no reason given)

Let me ask you sir/madam do you own a home?
I doubt you do because from reading your posts you lack Empathy in my opinion, my opinion only.
I don't find it in bad taste ( the ad) it is just what the OP said it is.
The bad taste comes to me from reading posts stating that this is nothing to see, move along folks.

Did you even consider what Hawking said? Its probably a joke.

And no, hypnosis does not work unless you believe it. Look it up.

My good fellow. It's time for us to end an obviously fruitless exchange. How would you know if you believed hypnosis works or doesn't, when you don't even understand what it is. Five minutes clicking links on google won't make you an expert. The average person goes in and out of an altered state of consciousness several times a day. Anyone can be hypnotized intentionally and/or unintentionally unless they have a very low IQ, or mental problems.

I learned, and have used hypnosis since the 70's. The only place belief plays a role is in a conscious decision to accept or reject the suggestions being given to you by yourself or the practitioner while you are in an altered state. But if you aren't aware of what's being suggested... then you can't reject it. Hence, subliminal technology.

But I digress. We'll have to agree to disagree on this topic.

What if they use hypnosis in comercials. Hypnotize the world in comercials. Then one day they trip the switch that they inplanted in your brain and you go CRAZIES. Then they ship you off to fema camps and say that you caught some sort of infection that caused your brain to malfunction. Kind of like when hypnotists, hypnotize you to act like a chicken and then you start to cluck and act like one. Maybe one day people will just all of a sudden go crazy. So stop watching comercials now before it is to late.

Maybe this is how they turn us into walking zombies for thier apocalyptic depopulation plans. Stop watching comercials.

Those that are," weak minded" will become the ZOMBIES. Even video games have Zombies and you shoot at them, maybe there IS something to this after all.

I think that this could be possible to manipulate the masses into fighting among themselves. DEPOPULATION anyone. Did you catch that brain disease.

because you know, theyre protesting with a sign that says "stop protesting".

get it? theyre doing something, while holding a sign up that says to not do that exact thing?

thats supposed to make you chuckle. not supposed to turn you into a compliant sharpie zombie.

thats irony. they are doing the opposite of what you would expect them to.

they are using the protesters as a theme because thats whats in the news and what is relevant at this time. welcome to the world of advertising folks.

Millions of people loose their homes, they go and protest, the banks get all the money, please tell me here what is to "chuckle about"?
It seems to me if Sharpie is making a joke about all these homeless people it is in bad taste.
I see nothing to chuckle about here so that leaves the question why is this ad running?

I'm sure its already been addressed but I'll state it anyway:

This isn't subliminal messaging. In fact, the Stop Protesting banner is just irony and humorous since it's protesters expressing their...anger..towards..protesting? It's silly but gets the point across. Wait, what's that? People are looking into something that isn't there? Well I guess the producers didn't get their point across at all then

wow, really? you're actually serious? Come out of your little cave there, fella.

Prove me wrong why dont ya.

I don't need to "prove" anything to you.
The research has been done, time and time again.
Subliminal messaging does in fact "work".

As does "advertising".

Look at the effin world you live in.

Everyone *mostly* completely attached to and going ape$^*& over that which their TV's and magazines/ads tell them they want and need.

New iphone, GOT TO HAVE IT
new ipod, GOT TO HAVE IT
new this, new that, need it, want it, must have it!

and you say "advertising doesn't work"..

WHAT?

This entire society and its economy is built around advertising!
The "proof" is in the proverbial pudding.

if you can't see it, then "god help you"..

Sorry but Jones and Infowars weren't the first ones to catch it. The comments that are dating 3 months already called them (Sharpie) out on it.
Anyway, No surprise there. I'm just really disappointed at this terrible attempt. They should change their name from "Sharpie" to "F*cking Amateurs".

Why would they say stop protesting though?

It's obvious that they don't want people finding out the truth!

Some may say this is not a "subliminal message" because they are clearly holding up the sign, but I have to disagree. This message is embedded in the middle of a commercial where they are telling you to voice your opinions and speak your mind...but the message on the sign says the exact opposite. It's written on a sign that looks like it should be a hippie sign against war...and this, alone, makes people not read it because it's quick and they assume what it says...yet...on an unconscious level you see what it really says.

I've read most of the replies on your thread and had no luck in finding any references to Edward Bernays who was quoted about mid way through the video.

Edward Bernays had a famous relative.
His mothers brother was Sigmund Freud.
His fathers sister was married to Sigmund Freud.
Edward Bernays was a double nephew of Sigmund Freud.

He began learning at an early age the secrets of psychology
long before the general public had any idea about this science.

Here again is the quote from the video

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society.

He is not being a whistle blower here, explaining to the masses on what to look out for. Here he is promoting his book to those who wish to control society.

Here are a few more quotes of his ideas

In almost every act of our lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons [...] who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind, who harness old social forces and contrive new ways to bind and guide the world.

In theory, everybody buys the best and cheapest commodities offered to him on the market. In practice, if every one went around pricing, and chemically testing before purchasing, the dozens of soaps or fabrics or brands of bread which are for sale, economic life would become hopelessly jammed.

Propaganda is the executive arm of the invisible government.
p. 48

A single factory, potentially capable of supplying a whole continent with its particular product, cannot afford to wait until the public asks for its product; it must maintain constant touch, through advertising and propaganda, with the vast public in order to assure itself the continuous demand which alone will make its costly plant profitable.

If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without them knowing it.

and

The best defense against propaganda: more propaganda.

Makes you wonder why it consumes such a large chunk of revenue for most companies, then.

Advertising works decently for creating demand. if you can inundate a potential customers' perceptions with your advertising, then they may not necessarily think your product is awesome... but they at least won't know much about your competitors, or better, will think the competitors are "cheap knockoffs."

It's apparently less cost-intensive than producing a quality product, too.

So in the world of capitalism - that is, the world of stifling competition and making fast profit - advertising works magnificently.

Maybe we should hypnotize the elite into giving us all their money.
Then tell them that they live under some bridge somewhere in a cardbaord box.
