I think you're overestimating the effects of population, Israel has better military equipment than Iran. Also, Iran isn't that popular with most of the Arab states, so they wouldn't necessarily get involved either

They invade and never leave. Google "how many overseas bases doe the USA have?" It's in the hundreds, maybe even a thousand, so the west ain't going anywhere.
