Lonesome - if I wasn't attached you'd be the kind of guy who'd melt my cold, Scottish heart!

However, a prostitution thread isn't the best place on the net to flirt!

You see guys, those of you who think women are just out to be bought are wrong. You'd be faster into the bedroom if you were moral and sensitive. And with gsoh.

Works every time.

Indeed
, I am married too. My wife and i started out going to the movies and hanging out together and going on road trips. Ofcourse were both christians too and that had a significant impact on the way we thought about it. Yeah, Yeah someone is going to dog me for saying the C-word so be it.

Theres more to life than getting sex. I could be perfectly happy being celibate if i had to, i've learned alot over the years and quite frankly there are many many days where i wish i had never opened the door to sex. For me theres just so much more i'd rather be doing with my time, places to go and people to see, adventures in far off places, or just fishing at the lake near my house with a beer in hand trying to catch that damned 3 inch sunfish that keeps eating my bait! One of these days i am going to catch that little booger and when i do i'm going to get him mounted, he is my nemesis.

I don't ever see myself buying a hooker but legalizing it would be fine by me. Have them get VD checks like they do in the porn industry. Get these prostitutes off the streets and put them in clean and safe bordello's. I could think of far worse things people can buy.

I just see more dangers to prostitution than benefits. I mean, how long do you think it will take for people to start abusing it? Anytime there is something like this that becomes a hotbed of controversy that gets legalized, there are always some rather nasty ramifications that people end up paying for in more ways than one. Say prostitution gets legalized, it could lead to an increase in these ladies of the night getting pregnant and having abortions, or putting these kids up for adoption who never did anything wrong beyond being concieved. It breaks my heart anytime i think of a baby being killed or a child being abandoned and put up for adoption or ending up in foster care.

Maybe said prostitute gets pregnant and then while servicing one customer that has HIV, she forgets to use protection and then the baby gets cursed with HIV. The baby is innocent, and because dear mom made a poor choice an innocent pays the price. Thats the kinds of things i don't like and it will happen because it happens right now with it being illegal. This is one time we do not want to open pandora's box, this is one genie you don't want to let out of the bottle.

We should make it legal but above all we should be working on ways to make prostitution a rare practice.
I'm sure the majority of women in that business do NOT want that lifestyle.

But for those that do, it should absolutely be legal and they should be regularly tested for STDs.

The one time i acquired the services of a prostitute was when i was in my early 20's, me and a friend were out drinking and he suggested we go to a local brothel.

He was a long time customer there and cut a deal.

I ended up with 40 - something year old chinese woman.

It was the worst sex i'd ever had (no offence to the woman) and i left feeling like i'd done something very wrong

Lots of kids die in car crashed every year, should cars be illegal? Kids die from misdiagnosed illnesses all the time, should doctors be illegal? Kids die every year because they choke on toys.....lets outlaw toys too. You can always find a "what if a kid got hurt" argument about lots of things if you just look for it.

So you can honestly tell me that you have had sex with someone and no money was involved on his part in any way at any time? You probably have unless you only had sex with broke homeless guys right there on the street corner for no reason at all. I am not calling anyone a whore, a parasite, or anything else. I wouldn't do that, it's just rude. That's just how things go is all, I don't know why, I didn't make the world. It's just the truth, if a guy is having sex, money is involved most of the time.

Thats a rather cheauvenistic way to look at things. When i was dating and i offered to pay for something or i bought my date a drink, i didn't attach the price tag of sex onto what i offered. I was making the offer to be a gentleman and to show respect to my date. Sometimes a date would go dutch if she didn't feel comfortable with my paying for anything. I didn't care either way and it has nothing to do with how old i am because i am 32. It has to do with how my mother raised me and my mother didn't raise me to be a cheauvenistic pig (even if i am a Razorback). Youre supposed to be from the South, whatever happened to that "Southern Hospitality"? Do you never do anything for free because it makes you feel good to do for others for the sake of being nice?

Well you are apparently a woman living in Scotland. I am not surprised that you don't understand this type of sexual encounter or have some moral objections, I think you are in the majority. I will admit that the things I have done and the way I think is outside of the norm, I am used to that. I only wanted to illustrate that it is not the evil act of degradation that you have been told it is. Its really not that big of a deal, although its not my intention to convince you. Just sharing my experience and opinion.

Wow, I want to move to Arkansas where apparently ladies will have sex with you JUST because your just nice. Here, if your broke you don't get any. They actually expect men to take them out, show them a good time, and treat them right atleast once before you have sex with them. You could be the nicest guy in the world....ever, but if a woman has to drive to your cardboard box under a bridge, pick you up in her car, and take you out and pay for everything the last thing on her mind will be taking those stinky rags off of you so she can get laid. Like it or not, that's just how things are. Once again, honestly, we all pay for it anyway, so just legalize it already.

Well, I would pay when it is no longer called prostitution. I would pay when sexuality is considered a healthy natural healing and necessary element of our well being and is no longer used as control, for ego gratification, power, and can be viewed by the majority as a beautiful thing.
And by then I would not have to vote for it to be legalized. Because power, ego and control would no longer rule the hearts of men and women.

When there are places where women and men wanted to offer sexual healing just as there are massage spas...When you can walk in without guilt and shame.

I personally know people who buy prostitutes, while i find it tempting myself...that's all it is -a temptation. A temptation just like so many other things. My logical side tells me temptations are wrong because they lead no where(illicit sex, drugs, gambling) so making it legal will do nothing to solve the problem. Then another side of me says w/e..let people do what they want.

"Illicit sex".....that term always cracks me up.

There is no more ridiculous law that I can think of than the one prohibiting prostitution. Prostitution is an act between two consenting adults....period. The OP says these prostitutes are usually victims of abuse themselves. While this is probably true, the act of prostitution is STILL a consensual act. If a sexually abused person has chosen a path of prostitution because she/he suffered emotional/physical/sexual abuse as a child, arresting her/him for prostitution doesn't "save" them from anything.....and it certainly doesn't ease their pain.

As adults, we have to take responsibility for our own actions. It's not a good idea to pick up strange people and have sex with them when you know nothing about them. It's not a good idea to have unprotected sex with someone who has many partners. It's not a good idea to have sex with a stranger if you are in a committed relationship with someone you don't want to lose as a result of them finding out. These are well-known facts that should not require laws.

When we're talking about underage girls being exploited by pimps, that is a different story altogether because we're dealing with minors....but the charges obviously should be directed at the pimps and the Johns because in this case, the prostitute is a child and really IS a victim who is being sexually exploited and sexually abused.

If a man wants to pay for sex, whose business is that? I mean.....REALLY......why is it anyone's business at all? If a woman wants to offer sex for money, why should I care? It's a personal choice--often times it can be a dangerous choice--but many people make dangerous choices everyday that don't have laws attached to them.

Prostitution laws do nothing to stop the cycles of abuse that are many times occurring in the lives of the so-called "perpetrators." Those who engage in this activity have to deal with the pain of their past before they will stop patterns of self-abuse.

Then you are chasing the wrong kind of women bro. I'm going to step out onto a limb and say something some will consider religious but who cares. Damned if i do and damned if i don't. Get yourself into church, if youre not saved and don't know Jesus then change that. The type of women you are chasing after are the kind you don't want anyway. If all they want out of you is a stepping stone on their way up the ladder than you don't need them and youre better off alone, because those types of women will ditch you for something they think is better the first time he walks by. You are going to make yourself miserable chasing after whats between one pair of legs to another. You find what you want when you give up and stop looking for it. Women are naturally put off by a guy that is coming off hot and desperate. Women have this supernatural ability to detect bullsh*t and desperation, like they can smell the stink of it on you because their noses are more sensitive than ours are.

I found my wife when i stopped caring. I stopped dating and hadn't been on a date in a couple years and i just minded my own business, while staying friendly with people and not being standoffish. I just started being myself instead of trying to puff up my chest like a red breasted booby trying to attract a mate, and pretending to be something i was not. Didn't take too long and then my wife practically fell in my lap and 8 months later we were married and we just celebrated 2 year together this spring.

Legalise prostitution. As long as it is regulated and above board, no problem. Make pimping illegal though.

I would rather go to a 'legal' prostitute than take my chances with the local 'village bike'.

Once more I am proud of your intelligence ATS. It is good to see that at least a lot of people share the opinion that prostitution should be legalized. My opinion is that love is the most valuable (and prolly easiest producible as well) resource we have, and it sucks to make it illegal to trade in.
