I have to agree. I am not a fan of violence in any way, but having a gun for protection and being trained when and how to use it is a priceless commodity!

Ignorant I am not, and fear will kill you the same way stress kills. Your mentality is "me against the world" and that's the problem. Odds of a crazy man attacking your family are slim (I guess it depends on where you live, but violent crime is way down)...your part of the problems and so is every other American who's got this "my gun will save me crap"... your gun is to protect you from the government not your fellow theoretical crazy dude. Violence begets violence - you own a gun, so does everyone now, and that drugged out fool gets his gun from his nice family and tries to rob you, sees your gun and actually shoots you and your family, and you shoot him and all are dead.

Media focus on the worst, don't believe it, once case of murder and the sky is falling - your gun will cause more problems then it creates. Fact. Then again, if you're part of the problem, dealing drugs or whatever, you will be victim at some point. (not saying you are, just saying it).

Off topic: Lack of interest in firearms, if this board wasn't anonymous I'd prove to you I can out shoot just about every human being alive - yeah, I got awards, plenty of them. And I'll never own a firearm in my house. Scared much?


ETA: And I did something I hate to do - say something of which I have no intention of proving and asking anonymous people to take my word for it. If you think I have a lack of interest in firearms, ask me some tough questions I can't Google. I can think of a few right off the top of my head...

Gun porn? Murder porn? What did you quit smoking? Maybe you should share so I can understand what you are talking about. I have 4 firearms. Not a "sizable collection" by any means, especially since one is a .22 AR7 survival rifle in my BOB. My guns for two legged varmints include 1 .45 colt 1911; 1 remington 870 12ga pump; and 1 Romanian Ak-47. I live in central Florida and have a carry permit for my .45. I carry it every single day and go to the range at least once a week. I don't like video games at least not the FPS types I believe you are referring to. I play strategy games like the Hearts of Iron series. FPS video games are nowhere near as fun as paint ball. I had to LOL at the shaking like a leaf part. The first time I was in a firefight I admit I pissed myself. I thought I was going to crap my pants. You know what though? I still was able to follow orders and return fire. I didn't join the military to do combat. It just came upon me. I was a CE2(Construction Election Second Class E-5). I joined the Seabees because I wanted to learn how to build things. I learned that even when you are scared, you can keep your wits and do what you have to do.

so what is my alternitive? this guy is druged out as you stated, most likely desperate, crazy, and most likely has a decrese in moter skills, due to the drugs. So your alternitive is for me not to have a gun? Let this guy rob me, tie me up, rape my wife, and most likely kill us just because there "might" be a chance of a shoot out?
