Maybe that picture of the jumper was a not so fortunate pick.

There are no pleasant images or memories of that day, how is that one image so much more unfortunate than others?

Is it because a human being just like you, was forced to choose between choking smoke and heat so intense that flesh would burn, and jumping to his death, head first?

We all have many choices in life, imagine having to make a choice in those particular circumstances.

He wasn't alone... There was a woman who jumped, and tried her best to hold her dress down from the wind blast as she fell, there was a couple witnesses said that held hands as they fell, there were others who tried to make parachutes from items inside of the buildings... None of them worked, apparently.

Yeah, it was a really bad day, for a hell of a lot of people.

what do you mean wtf?

Is it wrong of ATS to remember the fallen?

Hey, dude. This is where three thousand people died. How does changing to the background to the ruins where they had their final most horrifying moments of their lives respect their lives? This is a grave site. Not a monument. Not then.

It's also the site of the most horrific attack on our own people that this country has ever had, do you complain about videos and photos of Peal Harbor all over the web? Do you complain about the pictures of the millions of people we've killed in Iraq & Afghanistan permeating the web? No.

In-fact, I don't see you picketing or complaining about cemeteries, or every place that someone got hit by a car or killed by a handgun on the side of the street in the hood...

so stop looking for stupid things to argue about. kindergarten rooms are reserved for that, there's plenty of blocks and milk cartons to fight over.

Can we not attack each other, here, now? Please? Isn't this painful enough, without us sniping at each other.?

The images are horrific, and should be seen. It proves the frailty of life, how quickly everything we think we know, think we have, can be snatched away from us in an instant. And it reinforces our resolve,in every way. To not look at it,to turn away,is an insult to the memory of the fallen and the historic value of it all. That event changed the world, and everyone, not just America and Her people. It changed me in such a profound way that words fail me. I will never be the same as I was before it happened, and I have to tell you,for that,I am grateful. It shocked be awake, and showed me things that made me better than I was. I grew up,alot.

We Will NEVER Forget, any atrocity, anywhere. If only there was truly a way to exact justice.

Excellent thread. S$F Original Poster. Bless you.

So its not the whole picture.

"I am unsure of how many Iraqi people were killed. "

reply to post by gimme_some_truth

That's the problem though isn't it. There will be no big memorial to those woman children and men who were sitting and standing and living, helplessly their lives and loved ones ended with Shock and Awe.
(don't forget the nice gift of depleted uranium weapons that will kill for the future generations and deform)

meticulous count of body pieces at the trade towers but "you are unsure how many innocent Iraqis died"

You know there are a million wrongful deaths probably a day....If you take all the people who die from terror acts and lump them together and that could even include drunks killing people with cars and guns...but we consider it normal death.

We have made these buildings owned by the rich and well insured and these 3000 people special, their loved ones feel they have rights above and beyond the rights of others who lose people to murders all the time.

They get money and love and care and memorials, while others whose loved ones died by murder for hate crimes or any other act totally equal with terrorist acts get ignored, no money no memorials they bury their dead alone. How all the outpouring of strangers love to the trade tower victims must hurt them.

So for our families sake we should hope that if we die a violent death we need to die in one group, it makes us special, the kids will be educated free and everyone will give world wide and keep giving year after year. I simply believe in equal treatment for all humans and I don't see it. It reminds me of the blind rush toward war after 9/11 every person on our Sheeple street raised flags and started growing excited about killing someone in response. How easy it was and is to manipulate feelings in humans.

I do remember, every moment. I cancelled my cable tv service, because of it,and things like it. I am trying my best to remove myself from the influence of mainstream media, thought and spun opinion.

I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like for you, what it's still like. My god,the suffering agony and fear. And you're right, too,in your other post. Too much has been lost, too many lives. This is a painful subject, for most of us,for differing reasons,in differing ways. This is a difficult day.

It is very sad what happened but you know what's even worse? "war against terrorism" is that what they call it? I wonder how many innocents, americans and the like have killed since 9/11 but no, nothing is said or done about that because 3,000+ innocent died that day. Yes, they did not deserve it, yes the people that did it do deserve what they get but come on.

Was it really worth it? God bless our troops? No thanks, they did more damage than those planes ever did. Yeah, a lot of you might disagree with me but let's not forget the countless innocent people that died for that"revenge" many of you wanted.

I never wanted revenge, never, and how can justice ever be served..no.

I grant that there are too many Americans that cried out for revenge, felt like an eye for an eye would even things up. I am not among them.

This one has been more like an eye for an eye, and an arm, another arm, both legs, a liver, kidneys and feeding whatever is left to the dogs.

But... It was all completely justified, right?

Oh, I know it's no everyone but it was the majority. It just upsets me how everyone is giving respects for the people that died on 9/11 but forget those innocent people that have died since 9/11 - it looks that way anyway.

Don't get me wrong, the people are right for giving their respect to the family and to those that died on 9/11 but what of the countless others that have died by our so called"peace loving hands"

I know someone through association that died in this? We don't remember the day or anything.

Besides I think we're all forgetting the biggest conspiracy in the US on a conspiracy site: The 911 Conspiracy.

You're asking me,if I feel it was/is justified? Hell no I don't. What I see,ALL I see is an insidious agenda being played out at the expense of innocent, and not so innocent people all over the world. MY question is how could justice ever BE served. Surely not thru more killing.

I remember thinking,as I watched the second plane hit the second Tower,"My god, what have they done?" And not really understanding who I was thinking was behind it,but I tell you,I never felt for one instant that it was all done by a skinny robed man in the desert. Since then,I understand better now who the "they" I was feeling was responsible for and who's agenda was being pushed, are.

It all just makes me sick inside,on every level.

Yes,what of the others.

Last night,I lit a candle and sent up a prayer for them. I do this daily, for the world's people. I see a much bigger picture than most do,perhaps. I don't know.

Today,we remember those who lost their lives as a direct result of that day in 2001. Every day,I remember them, that day,and all that has come after. As an American,I mourn the tragic loss of that day,in my country. This is the anniversary of an event that changed my nation forever. I wasn't in Germany or Poland during WW2,I wasn't in Vietnam in the 60's. I'm not in the Middle East, dealing directly with the impact of what happens every moment there. But I remember,I grieve, and today,I grieve for my country,Her people, and everything that goes with it. I cannot be angry at anyone,no matter their thoughts, words or responses to this,or anything like it,anywhere. We are only human, and frail.

You attempted to backpedal afterwards, but this is what you said and what you meant. You are celebrating the death of the innocent people who simply went to work that day and defending the act and people that killed them.

I hope you don't expect hugs and kisses from people who are not filled with hatred, not sociopaths and who are disgusted that people who defend Terrorism and Terrorist attacks on innocent civilians even exist on the same planet.

My opinion is the same as yours,in this regard.
