X marks the spot!

It will show the Nephilim -exactly- where to steer a big E.L.E. type of comet.

This guy is not a Muslim; all that money could have been shared with the poor, open up a few schools. I am ok with having a big house, but do you really need your name carved into the earth? You know god will strike down this individual.

I do not hate people being wealthy; I only hate it if they got their wealth unfairly, with murder rape, using interest (banking on interest) etc. Who does this oil belong to? A few people, or the citizens of dubai?

i would get my name carved like that solely so i could get into a land dispute, and provoke the other person into saying "yeah, well i don't see your name written anywhere." i'd be like "ORLY!" and pull up google earth.

on a serious note:

he has a lot of money.

So I could go and kill the dubai oil barons and take over the oil; seems fair and square to me. You don't know my ideals or positions; do not assume.

Are you saying it's not possible to be wealthy AND still share some of your wealth WILLINGLY?

It sounds like The Professional (who by the way is ultra cool), just wants to see more good in the world, and less waste and greed? Whats' wrong with that?

'm not saying that at all. I was just noting the decidedly anti-wealthy theme running in this thread.

And I can't help but wonder if this was an AMERICAN who built large memorials to his ego and the liberals criticized it, wouldnt these same people defend his 'right' to such wealth?

Just the other day I was saying, it is a shame we, modern man, have not made a monument to the scale of the ancients. It is too bad that when it is finally done it is out of the ego of one man.

That is really no different than the Egyptian Pyramids though. Same thing done for the same reason.

That, my friend, is dependent upon whether the true purpose for the Pyramids was actually as a tomb OR if the original purpose was a power source and spiritual and astrological Temple.

They were from powerful men creating monuments to themselves. No different.

lets all try to remember this the next time the oil industry tries to justify the high price of oil to us.

Wait and eventually someone will one up him and draw their name in the sand twice as big as his.

"Oh yea buddy?!"

I find it funny that ancient cultures can spend untold amounts of resources and time to feed their ego, and people praise them for being such an amazing people, etc etc etc.

Someone does, basically, the same exact thing nowadays, and people make fun of it and bash the guy.

Quite the double standard. Oh I know, it's OK that ancient cultures did it because you think it "looks cool" even though it served the same purpose, and undoubtedly cost a lot more in labor and lives than a guy simply carving his name in the sand did.

People need to get over themselves. although I guess the guy who writes his name is mile long letters does too.

Wow. it's a real-life Chairface.

Downside is... does he really think he's the only guy in Dubai named "Hamad" That's like the Arabic version of "John" or something.
