I don't like the idea they're taking down the internet
they did say they won't do anything illegal
would crashing the whole internet be illegal?
is there a law for that?

I'm thinking it will be a federal offense, particularly due to the commerce aspect.

ETA: Remember, they said nothing would be illegal.

18,000 was mentioned numerous times as was the whole religious idea or movement that this 8/3/11 message could be entirely portraying. This is a Facebook page instructing for a yearly religious movement that happens to start 8/3/11 and calls for approximately 18,000 "revivalists":

I you look at those two pictures Astrobuzz posted, the bottom one in his post was on the site first. Then after a certain amount of people got the meaning they apparently added the one on top in that post. The one with the thing that looks like a sun/star. Hell I don't even remember where to find them at this point. I know that /x/ over on 4chan were the ones that initially claimed to have broken that code though. In the thread that I keep stealing from many people think this code is actually accurate.

If you research the date on google... its the same day that the new RESIDENT EVIL gets its official release.

On the "About Us" page ... there is just an UMBRELLA.

I'm certainly not an expert, but could that person shaped thing in the middle be a symbol for a "trojan" horse. Maybe they are not planning to release software for free, but rather they intend to disable something with a trojan?

I know, reaching here, but I'm having fun doing it.

Edit to add: What I meant was that the thing in the middle is obviously fake, controlled by wires like a giant puppet. (not that it looked like a horse....lol)

Who the heck said anything about the masks? Anynoymous is more than Fawke's masks and Vendetta logos.

Still, it COULD be Anon, or it COULD be another group, or it COULD be against anon and those groups or it COULD be a very misleading and difficult viral stuff.

This doesn't strike me as being tied to Anonymous, and if it were I think I would already know about it. Also, Anonymous is THE LAST group that would 'take down the internet'. Net freedoms are one of the tenets of their ideology.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, or YHF, could refer to a couple of things.

One, it's an airport designation in Canada.

Two, it's a virus. (Google)
