OCEAN PINES, Md.- WBOC on Friday morning received numerous phone calls and Facebook comments from viewers in Worcester County asking, "What was that loud boom?" The Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office says it was a sonic boom, according to county spokesperson Kim Moses.

At around 9:30 a.m., people from Ocean Pines and Berlin in Worcester County, as well as some people all the way up to Rehoboth Beach, Del., reported that they heard a loud sound similar to an explosion. Some said their homes and businesses shook and windows rattled. Residents in Ocean Pines also reported that the community's fire department's siren went off.

Moses said the agency responsible for the sonic boom has not been determined yet.

Honestly, this one is almost too scary to believe and i am a little skeptical. I have no doubt that the phenomenon exists (because many people reported them already and recorded them) - but i am getting more and more suspicious since i simply cant believe that there are such crazy loud sounds and the media and news are not reporting them BIG STYLE?? Also..i think its odd how the sound starts the second she opens the trunk. Just saying, while i believe this i also think that some people start hoaxing just for youtube attention.

The sound in this video is very clear and scary, VERY much like from a SF movie..and it wont get into my head that beside some "youtube people" no one is aware of this or talks about it. It's just odd.

I have heard these several times...no one knows what causes them....there can't be that many sonic booms can there?

I agree that there are people starting to fake these videos, which pis*** me off immensely! Because of them it will be harder than ever to find out what it is.....and now we have to find a way to prove which are fake.....which I have no idea how to accomplish. I wonder if anyone here knows how to analyse these to tell which are fake?

A couple people to the north of the area reported a rumbling sound that lasted approximately 10 seconds before the boom .

There were also power outages to the North after the "boom" that lasted for a while and have not been explained.

Makes you wanna go hmmm there is more here than a "sonic boom "

OP ..... are you in Mississippi by any chance ? , if so , i can explain exactly what that sound is ....... i`ve heard it before when visiting and found out exactly what it was after snooping around.

Just read your mini profile *DOH*
, ok then maybe not, but still, i think i know what it is....... check and see if NASA is anywhere near your area, you can hear the machine for miles and miles , so it wouldnt have to be on your doorstep so to speak.

It sure does....to be honest in the area where they heard a boom, then had power outages....it could have been a transformer blowing.....however, it doesn't explain the other areas. About 2 years ago, we had a sudden boom so loud, pictures fell off the walls, and some houses had shattered windows (this was in north central Louisiana where my Mother lives)....later that night there was an eerie blue light that people saw all the way to Alabama....I'll post the article and pic of the light if I can find it. The news said that it's unknown what it was, but suspect it was a meteor. It scared me so bad I thought we were having an earthquake because the ground shook so hard it almost knocked us off our feet.

Yes I am in New Orleans....right now in North Central Louisiana....I know what you are talking about though. In some cases it could be that, but the thing is, it's being heard everywhere.....other states, other countries. If you go back through this thread, you'll see many videos from all over with this same sound.....that's what has my interest. It has to be something that can either travel around the world (some type of aircraft we don't know about) or some kind of known or unknown atmospheric phenomenon....I'm also thinking it could have something to do with the magnetosphere or something of that nature (but I'm no scientist let me just say:lol
Also, several pages back, I have some sound clips of the magnetosphere sounds....check those out, it's very similar!

As an isolated event it sounds harmless , but when you add up all the events that have been going on along the East Coast it is eerie.

News reports indicate that the reason for the power outages is not known. I would think if it was loud enough to be heard and felt in such a large area that they would have found a damaged transformer and report it as that.

I posted in the Arkansas topic that the squirrels I have feed every morning for years disappeared the day of the earthquake in Virginia and to date have not returned .

The birds I have fed for over 30yrs have developed different behaviors that even my husband has noticed.

Something is going on , just wish I could figure it out.

Take a look at this map....we haven't finished it yet, but there is certainly a big concentration of the sound reports along the West Coast, Gulf Coast, and the East Coast especially....imageshack.us...

Even with that map not updated it is clear there is something going on.

I do believe all that is happening is connected to earth movement in someway.

Thanks for the map !

You're welcome....Doodle is supposed to back today and she is going to update the map...she did a graet job. It shows there seems to be concentrations in some areas, which could mean something....especially since the earthquakes on the East Coast. There have even been some earthquakes in Texas recently, which is a little unusual....

What still intrigues me is the reports coming from almost dead-center in a lot of states. Weird.
My Google Earth is crashing every time I go to open it to get a look at some of these locations.

Yes, that is interesting....it's got to be a clue. We will really see once the whole map is complete. Doodle (who is the one making the map with me) is supposed to be back today, so maybe we can get going on it again...let me know if you find anything!

I AM BACK! Whew what a trip to Dallas. Anyhow, I will start to finish up the maps soon. With a broken finger it may go a little slow but we will get it done. Thanks guys for your patience and remember to report any noises you hear to StealthyKat so that we can get them on the maps.
