It seems the core has an anisotropic alignment 10degrees off the rotational. And is spinning faster than the planet. This would with out doubt incorporate new precession models for the axial wobble.

I've lived in my house for 10 years now, and my house faces north. Ever since I moved in, sometime in the 2nd week of May, the sunlight would cause havoc on my garage door sensors. This year, it happened the exact same as it has the past 10 years.

My conclusion: Everything is the same as it has been.
Sometime = The exact same?? ....interesting.

Obviously, if it seems the same as it seemed 10 years ago, then it must be exactly the same as it has been since the beginning of time itself.

Here is a gift, from me to you.

I have a question that hadn't been asked in the first three pages, so I'll give it a go.

Is there any way for the Sun to rise where it always had, yet set in a different spot than in previous years. This was the account of the first Inuit, but I'm too spatially-challenged atm to envision it.

I do not think that is a good answer.

Perhaps bedlam or phage can repeat to us something they have read somewhere.

Do you people honestly believe all scientists and engineers and students of sciencee and engineering would ALL be able to be silenced?

I remember reading somewhere that the earths' shape is changing. There is a bulging at the equator and the poles are getting flatter. This link mentions it, though it isn't where I originally read it.

news.nationalgeographic.com...

So, is it possible that because the land where the Inuits are viewing the stars from is getting flatter, that it would make the stars seem in a different place?

Very, very interesting. Just last night the wife and I were sitting outside at sundown and I noticed that the sun was setting at the very end of our road. That's a new phenomenon.

Of course earth axis is changing, that has happened thousands times before and its completely natural. Tiny force of other planets changes earth's orbit, but that is really minor change. Also, axle of earth changes, it has 25 725 year cycles. That makes star positions different, but not much. Moon also slows down earth every year by 1,6 milliseconds. 370 million years ago Earth's day was only 22,7 hours.

Of course.

Imagine yourself standing outside, waiting for the sunrise. Now imagine you have total control of planet Earth's rotation and axis of rotation. Each time, you'll choose to make the sun rise directly in front of your line of vision. The first time, the axis of rotation will be like your outstretched arms, to your left and right. Then spin the Earth "forward" such that the sun rises perfectly overhead of you and ends directly behind you, as can happen sometimes at the equator.

Now reset so the sun is back in front of you, but tilt the axis of rotation. This time when you rotate the Earth, the sun will not end directly behind you, due to the axial tilt.

So yes, by moving the axis of rotation (such as would happen or seem to happen if the Earth's crust slid slightly) you can create the described effect.

Yeah, we can clearly see how you've rejected technology. I'm sure you're posting on ATS solely through the power of your mind.

I take it you disagree with veg is saying and since you have no argument against his fact that the sun has not changed you are relying on being pedantic with language.

veg is saying that during the second week of may the sun causes havoc with his garage door (sometime during ie not a specific second of the week but sometime during the week....understand?). This has happened "exactly the same" ie the second week of may, for the last 10 years.

The sun has not changed. I understand perfectly what veg is saying and his explanation proves that the sun has not changed orientation with respect to his garage in the last 10 years. Now if his garage is fixed to the earth then this means the sun has not changed for all of us.

There are hundreds of thousands possibly millions of amateur astronomers out there in the world all of whom would be swearing at their computer tracking devices on their telescopes if the earth had shifted......IT HAS NOT.

Just because somebody is an innuit does not mean that they are exempt from delusion or prone to mistaken interpretation of events.

it would be nice to hear from some simple layman, not these retired politicians and actors..
at least that would add some credibility.
climate is changing alright, but only time will show us where we'r going..
