I don't know who I'm planning to vote for, so it's a little early to say that I WILL vote for anyone in particular.

I would say if anyone has their mind made up either way at this point, then they are partisan/predetermined voters who do not vote logically, but vote based on party or feeling.

We'll have to see what Obama does in the next year, and what other candidates end up on the ballot.

Given the GOP's penchant for picking terrible candidates, Obama has a decent chance of getting my vote. He hasn't done anything that terrible (despite all the spin), and I truly feel that typical Neo-Con Republican leadership would be disastrous for our country given the state it's in.

However, if Ron Paul is on the ticket he's got my vote. I might even write his name in again like I did in '08.

Time will tell. Nobody should have their mind made up yet, if they have, they're only proving their own ignorance/partisanship.

This is hysterical. There are 2 types of people in this thread, in this world:

A: Those aware of the growing incompetence of Obama and notice his lack to do anything he promised, and even commit crimes. Basically those who would never vote for him again.

B: Those who basically have been conditioned to say "well they're all bad so Ill stick with Obama", which is just the pathetic and ignorant ideology that will win him his second term.

Basically, 2 pages in, and nobody is yet to provide a sensible reason to vote for this man, yet the mass numbers will come out to check his box in 2012 for the most pathetic of reasons.

Fact: People who didnt care to research + People who are misinformed + People who are indifferent completely + Ignorance of not realizing the complex decisions involving presidency + NAACP = Obama Elected in 2008.

Dont you all get it? He knows that the majority lies in those who can be deceived easily or just dont care! For the sake of America, throw away the political spoon that has fed you, do your civil duty to research and formulate an educated opinion on your candidate, and maybe, just MAYBE, we can climb out of this hole we are in.

Republican or Democrat: Real Hope 2012.

I will tell you why I will vote for Obama.
I will punch RON PAUL, but the machine will register BARACK OBAMA.
The media will talk about how RON PAUL lost his following just days before the election because he was soft on terrorism.
Or some other nonsense.

(I really hate it when people put "fact" next to something that is clearly an opinion.)

The truth is, Obama won the last election because he was more popular, and more people voted for him. You can come up with all the excuses you want to, but at the end of the day every single person votes for their own independent reasons.

Americans have been incredibly stupid regarding their votes in the past...and I hope (but don't count on) a change of habits at the polls.

25%-30% or some pathetic number of the citizenry even bothers to turn out. Many of those vote like automaton robots, pulling the lever for the usual red or blue lineup de juer. Many people decide their vote on one or two issues, which are typically social/religious based issues:
"Abortion~BAD! Imma vote for the Christian!"
"Guns~BAD! Imma vote for the liberal anti-gunner!"
and on and on and on.

Sadly very, very few people have bothered to educate themselves at all on the real issues of the economy, foreign policy, energy policy etc etc. Pretty much what I am saying is we are all _______ in the _______.

AS FOR ME, I am voting Obama in 2012 because I think the quickest way to fix our government is for it to completely collapse, crashing to the ground in flames of revolution. IMO Obama is the man to make that happen!

Good answers everyone, though this thread is severely lacking one important thing: anyone that will vote for Obama because they think he will do a good job! I'd really like to see people posting here who truly believe in him and why they do!

Seeing you're avatar is "The Creature from Jekyll Island", and considering how many Goldman Sachs(Gold in Sacks)
people he's appointed/surrounded himself with, as well as CFR, TLC, etc., how can you possibly believe that he brings "hopenchange" to any group/groups(?) but TPTB.
Sincerely, i do want to know why you expect anything different in his next possible term?

Same here. If Ron Paul doesn't get the GOP ticket, I don't see a better option. In fact, even if Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination, I might still vote for him just out of principle. As far as everybody saying he hasn't done anything, here's a little reminder.

What the heck has Obama done so far?

Really, though... I loved 2008 Obama. 2011 Obama is a sad shell of his former self.

My dream line-up would be for Ron Paul as POTUS, Kucinich as VP, and Obama as my Governor. Then I could live in my socialist dreamland and you guys can live out your wild west fantasies. Win-win!

Good post, sir! And a good link. I clicked through there and I'll have to say I'm surprised at some of the things in there. Although some of it was unneeded (nation's first Chief Technology Officer?). I wouldn't mind that lineup (well...except for Obama in a position of authority
), though Kucinich is a bit sketchy to me.

Why?
Honestly I'm interested in your point of view.
If RP is your man, how can O' be your 2nd.
I really don't get it. Big disconnect for me.
Please elaborate - I'd like to know.

I am going to vote for whoever is the least determined to hand over America to the corporations.
IF some one makes overtures on how they are going to assist in corporate dominance thru policy,
they are not going to get my vote, not even a secong thought.

But there are those on ATS that seem to still have some hope for a bit of that Change We Can Believe In™, and I, and I'm sure many, here on ATS would like to hear some cogent arguments for him to be reelected.

Please keep it nice and respectful because I think we have a chance here to see an honest, thought provoking thread that doesn't have to degenerate into name-calling

Is this a confession

Hope
Change - Same "persons" were left in place - not "People", they would not do that to U.S.

I respect your choice, however bad it was or was not

Change = Love

Change + "People" - TPTB = Utopia

There is your Christmas Present

Love - ALL of YOU

I freely confess that I voted for him in '08. And I still maintain that, even with his current record (in regards to my values) he was the better choice over John "bomb, bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb Iran" McCain. You just THINK we're in too many wars now. It'd be WWIII right now with McCain in office.

So you know the final conversion inks out JEB BUSH

Ron Paul has to convince on a couple gapping holes I have detected in his proposed philosophy, we
shall see, I do hope he is the nominee, I really do.

The only reason I would disagree here is because of Ron Paul (my current pick). His stance and platform has changed so little over the years so that a person can make an informed opinion about him. His voting record is there for everyone to see, whether you like him or not.

That is the reason I voted for McCain in 2008. I now know that it doesn't matter who I vote for, whomever is supposed to win will win. So for 2012, I will vote for whoever actually best represents my values, despite however a long shot they may be.

I doesn't really matter anyway.

This is quite telling. S+F for you OP.

I see why people "wouldn't vote" for the other person, but no real reason FOR Obama.

Early into Obamas' reign of terror (
) I asked people to convince me why he was the right choice. And even then, it was because "he wasn't Bush", or platitudes like "hope" and "change".

This speaks volumes about such a vacuous individual. Obama! because he isn't "________" !!!

I am a bit disappointed. I really wanted to see more people in here that will vote for him and to give us good, solid reasons.

While I'll admit I didn't do a ton of research on him, I did plenty on McCain and I was dead set against him. Since I believe in voting every election, I did have to choose the lesser of two evils back then
.

Either you misread my OP, or I was not clear. I voted for Obama in '08, but I won't be voting for him in '12. I just want to know who will vote for him and what their reasons are.

Thanks for the reply.

I'd vote for Obama in 2012 if he did even half of the stuff he claimed he would do back in '08, like bringing home the troops, closing Guantanamo and other illegal facilities like it, and actually taking care of the health care issue without bending over backwards for his detractors (public option!). Also, it would help if he would stop taking these stupid little vacations every time there's a crisis here at home. I never thought another president could be as heartless as Bush was during Katrina, but Obama keeps proving me wrong...
