which is why the "islamic burial" is separated from the "buried at sea" part. if it's mentioned as a part of the islamic burial elsewhere, it's most likely a flub on the article and/or reporters part.

the explanation is he was buried at sea because his corpse would be exhumed and desecrated, as sooooo many people prove with the "drag him through the streets" thing.

i was saying that whatever was killed, be it him, his double, his triple, or his sister, is completely irrelevant in my point. desecration of the corpse isn't appropriate, nor is it a good idea on america's part.

what you mean to say it's not a good idea on your part, you don't speak for everyone

From what i read, its Islamic practice to bury someone 24 hours after death, in the event that the body might be stolen, etc, it is then dropped into the sea.

Apparently this was done so that they couldn't find his body and turn it into a shrine. as well as scoring PC points with the Islamic world.

Either way this is suddenly way to convenient for B.O considering the poll numbers. but if true, this would not have happened had B.O made cuts and what not to the military.

I want to see DNA, photographic, and dental records. but we never will because it'll be coming from the government.

I already stated that in an early post that bin laden was killed in 2002, that's old news dude, I told you guys to do some research and youll find out that hes already dead.

I notice that article was from 2001 - NOT 2002. So how many times are you suggesting he's been killed? Then there's the DNA match, which apparently doesn't mean anything - sort of like it doesn't exist - right? I also find it interesting that his "double" gets to live and sleep with Osama's youngest wife as a part of "the cover". Pretty tolerant religion right there...

BTW - that Fox article quotes Paki media quoting a senior Taliban official who said he attended the funeral. Let's see...We all know the Taliban would never lie - so that's GOT to be true. Also, the Paki media...coming out of a country that says "We don't know where Osama is - unless he's living in Pakistan, in a town that houses 3 army regiments maybe?"

Sorry Research Freak - this is not aimed at you personally - just frustrated and you happened to be in the way. I understand that this is a "Conspiracy Site", but it's mantra is to "Deny Ignorance"

So when does the denying part begin?

Who ever they killed they sure wanted to get rid of them in a hurry and did not care at all how much they offended Muslim's by doing this which is all the Obama admin seems to worry about these days.

I would have preferred to have watched a good hanging. The proper way to have buried him would have been to turn him over to his relatives. If this didn't happen then who's to say he is dead? They would be able to confirm it.

Apparently, others are having suspicions about this burial at sea development for the most wanted man on the face of the earth? Not from the your usual tin-foil hat wearers or alternative news junkies, but the 9-11 victim's family members.

Osama bin Laden's burial at sea upsets relatives of Sept. 11 victims

"I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say I was a little dismayed — a lot dismayed," Tallon said as her 20-month-old son, Paddy, nestled in her arms while savoring a red lollipop. "I think that was too hasty. I would've liked the American people to say without a shadow of a doubt, 'Yes, that's him.' "

Its seems the revelers from the night before are beginning to sober up to the whole myriad of questions that remain surrounding the abrupt announcement made by the President last night? Where is the body of this man who had been sought after for over a decade, was alleged gunned down, and whose remains were recovered in the recent special forces operation in Pakistan? Why has the MSM remained so mute about the apparent holes in the official story, and have not done any real follow-up on this story? Is it not a job requirement for journalists to remain objective, and to hold elected officials' and government bureaucrats' feet to fire? This story has more holes in it than a piece of swiss cheese, yet many are clamoring to it hook line and sinker? I am sorry but something is awry here? Just another conspiracy to add to the rest of them.

I wasnt a member of this site till 5 minutes ago. I was reading this thread after a web search on the dumping of "Osama's" body in to the ocean and it brought me here. Ive been greatly amused by a lot of the posts on this thread (thank God there are some people still capable of asking questions and using logic) but I wanted to correct one thing. I read a few posts stating that one of the reasons the US Gov decided to dump "Osama" at sea was to prevent anyone building a shrine to him and making pilgrimages to that site. Problem with this line is that Islam explicitely forbids any form of idolatry. Its why there are no images of prophet Mohammed. And to top it off, Osama was a Wahhabist which is the most fundementalist form of Islam (or abheration since a lot of people dont consider them real Muslims) the same type of nutcases who used to go around blowing up Shia shrines and who blew up those thousand year old Buddhas in Afghanistan. Why would they build a shrine to him? Doesnt make one ounce of sense. Neither would digging up his body and desecrating it. The American government has hundreds of military bases all over the world. They couldnt have found a patch of land somewhere and put him in an unmarked grave? They had to take him off the mainland and dump him at sea, shortly after killing him??

Im sorry but that sounds very, very suspect. I dont believe this story one bit.

So does the U.S. military bury every Muslim they kill within 24 hours?

Yeah but that is a really piss poor excuse for immediately dumping the body into the ocean without showing the world any evidence after all crap the world has gone through because of the WarOnTerror etc.

The so called "luxury mansion" and the place of his death can not serve as a shrine to his fanatic and insane followers then?

I think the government knew/confirmed that OBL had been dead long ago; but just couldn't find the body. So what can they do? I mean, they can't just come out and proudly announce that they can't find the body; then terminate the 10 year search. I think this whole incident, was done to put a full-stop to everything.

I think the concern was the prevention a "New Medina," so to speak. Medina is believed to be the burial place of Mohammad and, as a result, is one of the most important sites in Islam. A land burial creates a gathering place for people with similar terroristic beliefs. He's already a martyr to many. You probably don't want to encourage it any more than you have to.
