You're right when you say evil begets evil. But there is a simple fact here. Regardless of how Qadhafi responds, goes about his business, 'our side' is going to make attempt after attempt on his life until we have what we want: 1) Him dead, his regime disposed, thus those 'rebels/freedom fighters', who are comprised, in part, of the same movement we've been fighting in Iraq post-Saddam (or at least, the US has accused of these actions), are holding the reigns; 2) He gives up, much to the same conclusion as 1. Oh, and the oil is relatively secure then, as well.

Not to mention that all of these foreign debacles we keep entering brings us that much closer to bankruptcy, devalues our currency, and , probably worst of all, takes more and more jobs away from citizens here in the US - those we, according to our propaganda for the perpetuation of these wars, are supposed to be protecting. Sad.

I noticed that Gaddafi has a nice welfare system running in Lybia. I don't know why people would want to revolt under such a system. One peculiar thing that has been mentioned in the alternative media was that Lybia has large amount of gold reserve in their state banks. Too dangerous for TPTB I guess. Seems like italy, France and Britain are reluctant participants in the Lybian war including the US. You have to take the money lent by IMF to remain safe. Because that's how you are being eaten and swallowed as a country by TPTB.

In the mean time, the EU is breaking up. What is going on in the world?

Yep your right..they have quite a bit of gold and had plans to start their own african currency backed by a gold dinar. The people in libya get rewarded by the government for having a baby or getting married. Honestly the people of libya are very well taken care of, thats why I knew this wasn't anything like egypt or tunisia. That water system was just completed in september 2010. Libya has a vast amount of water and water will be the new oil.

or the victims of IRA bombs (IRA got money and arms from Libya)

I think you'll find that the Scottish and European victims of the PanAm flight disaster will have a problem with it (as they know or suspect that Libya was not actually responsible for it).

Not one person brought up who were flying the jets that bombed the complex.

Norway.

Not the US, the UK, or France.

Norway, one of the most progressive and highest developed nations on earth.

Completely bizarre.

Hahahahahaha

Who needs to worry about disinfo when you get these kind of threads for free?

Praying for the return of the good old days yet again.

There is a significant difference between opinion and fact. And just like one of my fav old sayings, 'opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and they all stink'.

I'd like to point a couple things out. While this has turned into President bashing contest, while we're fighting amongst ourselves, we're not watching them. I think it's clear than neither political party is looking out for our interests and the wars we are engaged in wars we have no business being in.

One thing I think is important is that there is a clear line between our government and the people. I love the U.S. I love what we are supposed to stand for. I love the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and the freedoms we have (even though they are disappearing at a frightening speed), but I do not love our government. I no longer respect the office of the Presidency and I have no respect for congress or the senate. I have no faith in the Supreme Court.

Like it or not, they are there to serve their own interests. Our military utilizes nearly half of our annual budget. That means there is BIG money in war. These so-called wars we are fighting are political wars, not "freedom" or "security" wars. I don't like Obama. He's like the doofus next door who won by default, for a number of reasons, but I won't go into that now. Once I saw GW's true colors, I didn't like him either.

I have completely and totally lost all faith in our government insofar as their motives and desire to serve the interests of the citizens of the U.S.

To be honest if it really was an assasination attempt they wouldn't have just fired a handfull of rockets... they'd have flattened the whole compound.

Have you seen pictures of the complex? It was pretty much flattened.

Those Norwegians rained some pretty heavy ordnance on it. Much more than a simple 500lb JDAM.

Sometimes the USA reminds me of an abusive husband, and treats every other country like a scared woman.
When a woman threatens to leave an abusive husband, the husband "invades her personal space" and harms her well being.

Just like the "countries" threaten to change currencies, and the USA/West isn't having it.

US? This is NATO. The EU and the US. Most of the aircraft involved in Libya are European.

I mention again for those who have tunnel vision: Norwegian, as in Norway, jets bombed this compound.

Do you honestly believe they would have done it without American orders/permission?
It was weeks ago, I heard on the NZ news, an American official calling for "regime change"... (Although a week earlier he'd been reminding himself - speaking aloud at a press conference, saying that regime change would be illegal.)
Of course I blame America! What do you think Obama meant on TV last night night, by saying that his priority was Merkins struggling under 'high "gas" prices"?

Sarkozy was pushing for the Libyan operation. There were insider reports on the news at the time that SecDef Gates and the POTUS did not want to get involved with Libya, but Hillary Clinton and the National Security Advisor pushed Obama on it.

Now Obama is replacing the SecDef. I wonder why?

SO you want an attack on americn soil? You want martial law? You want our president killed?

What a sad, sick statement

The facts are that Kadafhi was taking on a CIA-backed armed insurgency. Every single nation attacking Libya right now would copy his actions if they were fighting an CIA insurgency in their own land.

All the governments participating in this illegal aggressive war on Libya are setting themselves up for counter-attack. This is -- after all -- an overt act of war. If they get hit with NBC or conventional weapons, they will have earned it. If a counterattack does occur, I hope the victim nations go after the perps pulling the strings. After all., the common man (woman) in these attacking countries did not make this illegal war happen.

This is not about civilian deaths ...... this is about resources and/or power projection of the US. Just another set of US, UN and/or NATO crimes.

Again with the US.

We are in the backseat here. Sarkozy pushed for this.

Europe has had a severe illegal immigration problem, with millions of people coming from North Africa and the Middle East. Europe depends on Russia for oil and natural gas.

Bringing republican governments to the region kills two birds with one stone. One it stops the flow of immigrants and two it ensures energy security.

Europe tagged along with us for ten years in the War on Terror, now we are the tag alongs in their Crusade for Civilization. Its the same thing they were doing for centuries before we emerged on the world stage, they use to call it the "White Man's Burden".

French intelligence and UK intelligence are far more entrenched than the CIA is there. Its their agents, their special operators like the UK's SAS.

The worst thing anyone could possibly do is attack the US over their mess. We are barely involved now, but if Gaddafi tries to pull off a 9-11 in the US. It will be on and his rag tag excuse for a military won't last 72 hours. It would lead to invasion, occupation, and his execution. Then we'll leave and Libya will become a member of the EU/NATO.
