Of course - being a random schmuck doesn't preclude you from being able to write letters to anyone you want.

Honestly.. the FBI is covering up everything UFO.. but the leave THIS in the archives? There is no proof that the writer of this letter was a member of any government body.

If it was a weather balloon why not show it. It would be extremely exiting to see it, whatever it was. Unless it was something related to Russia.

It is a fake.

"According to Mr. ______ informant, the saucers were found..."

Look at that sentence. It does not make any grammatical sense. If I were to write this letter professionally, this is how I would do it: "According to Mr. ______, the informant, the saucers were found..."

It is a fake.

After going back over the last paragraph, the entire section has serious grammar issues. If this was a memo from a professional environment, the language and grammar would look extremely different.

Try it like this:

According to Mr. Brown's informant, the saucers were found..."

Maybe because this is old news???? It was talked about here at ATS in 2009 and I have seen reference to it on the Web from 2004.

Even though that would fit grammatically, I do not see why the informant would not be mentioned by name. It would be like saying, "I know a person who knows a person." It does not make any sense.

It does. Naming informants on government memos happens rarely, naming the handler is how it is done.

Bruce Maccabee says it's a fraud:

This document has been available since I got it from the FBI in 1977.
It was contained in a package of government documents made available
by the Fund for UFO Research way back in the '80's.

I wrote about it in my book, The UFO-FBI Connection published in 2000.

Apparently this was a result of a story told by Silas Newton during a lecture
at the University of DEnver on March 8, 1950. Newton was making this up
in order to con some oil investors (claiming he had secret technology
developed from an "alien" source or something like that). Apparently
some listener told someone else and so on until the FBI
heard about it from "an air force investigator" ](name unknown).
The story told by Newton was picked up by Scully and published
some time later.

The only reason that I can fathom for all the interest now is that
most people are not aware of the history of the subject combined
with the FBI decision to highliglht some of their documents.

Oh well. If there's a memo it must be true!

This document just goes in the pile of other documents that have either been released or found, that imply that UFOs and/or aliens might exist, but unless the government releases a statement read by the President stating so, then its not disclosure. Seems like its always this way, no official government statement, by the CURRENT administration. Always an older document that can be either ignored or denied. It has been alleged that sources within the government do it this way on purpose, so it can't be traced to a specific individual, and that the information is slowly leaked out with NO official confirmation, keeping the subject ambiguous and ridiculed by the media and most scientists.

Perhaps the reality is much different from what people expect. Within the early years of the 1990s, the internet became commercialized. Between its conception and now, only 25% of the world has plugged into the internet. Why haven't we found evidence of aliens during the internet's sixteen year existence? We have people in the UK, US, Asia, Canada, Mexico, etc... With that type of coverage, why has there not been evidence of aliens?

Maybe the truth is a lot harder to swallow? Maybe they haven't visited modern man for a reason?

*shrugs*

Let us put ourselves in their shoes... Even though I do not believe we were ever visited, I am willing to use Roswell in a theoretical scenario. Imagine if you crash landed on foreign soil, and found out the primitives have harnessed the Atomic Bomb? How would you deal with that? You are stranded on an unknown planet filled with life, and your first encounter disrupted society. Not only that. It occurred right after a World War, and their society is extremely paranoid. Would you come back?

Keep digging... What if your people were stranded on a hostile alien world, and you found out they were dissected and tested? Do you abandon them? You might not have a choice.

Theoretically, if they have been visiting Earth prior to 1947, they would have noticed how fast we were able to harness nuclear and atomic power. Within a small fraction of our history, mankind was able to develop weapons in which could devastate an entire planet. Would you want to visit that species, or would you want to wait until they matured?

When you think about this on a galactic scale, mankind's greatest achievements deal with the destruction of its species. Why would anyone want to waste their time visiting Earth? We are too dumb to grasp the grand-scale of our potential.

Look at what happened in 2008. After our first African-American president was seated, those who voted for him called his opponents bigots and racists. Why would I want to visit such a primitive species? If they cannot handle another group's opinions by displaying any level of tolerance, there is a very-very high chance they will attempt to kill an alien species.

Why the hell would I want my species to visit humanity?

*shrugs*

I would not waste my time.

*shrugs*

We kill our own kind. We do not tolerate each other's opinions. We waste resources. We build global destroying weapons. We take each other's freedoms away.

Why should any foreign species give a damn? Why would another species care?

*shrugs*

They wouldn't.

I'm not convinced.

Assuming this document is genuine, it and all the others posted about in recent weeks seem to be memorandums or assessments of witness reports, or informant reports. If the FBI, CIA, or any other official branch of government acknowledges an extraterrestrial (or interdimensional, or what have you) presence or visitation of Earth, then why are there no official analysis indicating that they've reached that conclusion? There's a lot of reports showing that they're interested in these phenomena and that they're collating data, but never anything suggesting any sort of final analysis or conclusion.

One might say, "That's because they're covering it up." That's possible. But if that's the case, then why are these documents made public? If they're covering up proof of contact, and they make these documents public, then these documents cannot be proof of contact.

As I've said elsewhere, nobody wants proof that this is happening or has happened than I do. However intently anyone reading this sits by their window at night and looks up at the stars longing for proof that we aren't alone, I'm right there with you. Believe me. But all I can see in these documents (and any others I've seen over the years) is proof of official interest - to varying degrees over the years - in these phenomena. Not disclosure, and not proof of contact.

Now I'm even more curious on the boom of songs that have come out about Aliens and the end of the world, lets take a look...

Katy Perry **E.T.** (has an alien and destruction)
youtu.be...

Lady Ga Ga **born this way** (disgusting video about aliens, in my opinion its the most disgusting video I have ever seen it should be banned.)
youtu.be...

Brittney Spears **End of the world** (shows meteors hitting the earth and living under ground)
youtu.be...

Kesha **blow** (a stupid video where she makes out with unicorns, BUT its interesting the point its trying to make)
youtu.be...

I kinda think its weird that these songs are coming out and now this, it could be the hype about 2012, a marketing ploy but I think its interesting to say the least.

The document wasn't just released and it doesn't prove that aliens landed at Roswell. It has also been discussed on ATS several times before. Please change the title of the thread to something more appropriate.
