Well wouldn't it make sense if we gave the Earth a break and took our resource grab and mass production Off Planet?

You know what Slayer ? Fine, you sold me. It's not like were doing anything worth a crap anyway are we?
Like seeing to it that not one child under the sun goes to bed with an empty stomach ? I'm sorry Slayer I just
have nothing but contempt for us right now. I'm so sick of us, and the injustice and debauchery to our own home
and it's inhabitants including us. I see all the needs instead of the wants and think that if the planet unleashed
it's inner core and swallowed humanity up in it's lava. That would be justice.

Man can achieve the speed of light,
but what good is he to himself,

I do agree SLAYER69,, but I guess my issue is,, those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it . And until we collectively sort out our Human history,, with Intervention Events in the past, such as Tower of Babel,, and where the '''gods and goddess'' really came from,,, we will just repeat in our ignorance.
The FEAR CONTROL button is being pushed so hard down humanity's throat right now, and obviously we are in the last moments of this Birth to a New Understanding of our Humanity,, or the Death Bell is ringing because we could not leave out childish ways behind and regroup as a collective of humans who wish to succeed and Get off this planet to explore the Vast UnKnown out there.
Sadly,, most still fear the unknown and will fight to the death to stop those of us who wish to move forward, because of the blinders they have put on themselves. They still expect some Big Daddy to save them from their foolishness, when in reality Big Daddy was no better than James T Kirk,, and they Worship him as a God.
Even if I am wrong, and this is not what happened,,, we here on ATS Know SOMETHING has been hidden from Humanity,, and that is our true Genesis. Where we really came from,,,
If we don't know this,, we will never GO ANYWHERE,, because our Fears will rule us into oblivion.
I don't fear the Truth, but obviously those who do wish to control the masses, fear the Truth being common knowledge for reasons we all discuss here day to day.
Yes, Humanity needs to realize it is wake up time, we have been in our self created Nightmare long enough.
I just tend to be pessimistic because I am a history buff,, and history tends to repeat itself over and over,,
unfortunately this time,,, If we are Repeating the TOWER OF BABEL incident when the ''Lord" confounded our languages so we do not understand each other,,, well the "Lord" the "Let US,, go down and confound them" did an excellent job.
We still do not understand each other
and obviously that is the way the Lord,,, wants it. Be he screwed with his own throne.
Prometheus the Titan was our only friend and we see what that has gotten him
a self generating Liver to be chewed upon by the Vulture of the ""LORD""
They don't want us off this planet for many reasons,,, and we need to regroup,,, come together to find out the real reasons so we Can succeed and break the chains that bind us to servitude to the King Rats of the 1% Elite,, and the the fictions that parade as GODS.

If Only Humans could wake up NOW.

NASA has been successfully used for the propaganda purposes for the US domination of the space technology in the 20th century. I think that hegemony is over.

NASA hasn't come with any exciting discovery for the last 30 something years. I would say that it marks the end of the old physics governed by Newtonian mechanics and the energy conservation law.

Both of the laws have been proven inadequate.

You just don't hear it from the main stream media.

The old paradigm of physics has died 15 years ago. The NASA and the scientific community is scrambling to accomodate this earth shattering changes coming in their way.

But then you may have to throw away the American pride of the "Moon landing" achievement as well as the Anglo Saxon dominance of the modern science jinx altogether.

The truth is not always pleasant.

Well why not use what the West [and now Asia] are good at? Exploitation of resources.

Only this time it would be in dead space instead of exploiting each other. Give the Earth a break.

I can appreciate your view. Seriously I do. I've posted several replies and wrote a thread on the topic. Earth's Human infestation [WRAP]. If you haven't read it yet don't let the thread title fool you. It's related.

The same can be said about traversing the worlds Oceans or flying from continent to continent. Both have positive attributes with their ability to disperse food and needed supplies during hardships here on Earth. Here is a video I made earlier this year.

Ahh don't give in Randy.... though I think you can't anyway. The engine for human development is exploitation. Doesn't have to be but it is. Exploitation and dominance. We learned how to exploit the resources of the planet and we learned how to exploit each other.

Ages ago tribes would assimilate the vanquished foe. Killem and take in the survivors. Then we learned that we could progress (progress??) if we made em slaves and then worked em to death. Yeah that's the ticket to growth.

We can find any number of racks to hang our hats on about how to really get into space, but it just isn't going to happen until we straighten out our rock first. Feed the children.

Everything you just depicted in those heartbreaking videos and photos, has nothing to do with humankind, natives and how they lived, though with wars and imperfections, but still it took a village to raise a child, and they were wonderful eras as well. This would be somewhat more natural but even then they had interference, and some negative interference ie. the Mayans.

The species conducting this slave planet, the Empire with its slave pens, do NOT represent humanity.

Now this is the nutshell for you. Your points here kinda make most others moot.

If we get off of this ball under that old paradigm it won't be like all the families and friends down at the docks seeing off the ocean liners, everyone waving and cheering with excitement. It will be will be like peasants on their knees, digging in the dirt for tubers, looking up for a moment to see a high flying 747 and then going back to digging for food.

Now THAT'S unpleasant.

I say we multitask. I mean, just because we'd have the private sector in space doesn't mean everything on this planet will be focused on said goal. We could still focus on the problems we're having here while still expanding into space. Heck, it would be a prime opportunity to grab some resources off-world to feed our insatiable appetites.

Heck, it would be a prime opportunity to grab some resources off-world to feed our insatiable appetites.

I have wondered for decades why this has not happened. What resources are there "off world" that could do this? I don't see any. Energy from the sun? Then why hasn't public or private sector enterprises established energy systems to collect and disperse this solar energy down here for "clean" use decades ago. Don't answer that, the answer(s) would be to long.

And our insatiable appetites?????? Not all of us have these. As a matter of point, I venture that many of us do not. The insatiable appetites are a relatively new development in humans brought on by a system of production based on over production. I'ts not an appetite, it's an addiction.

As a species we seem to have an insatiable appetite to bleed resources dry in one place and move onto the next. You are a part of this cycle as well, I mean look at the electricity powering the computer you're using to post your responses, the resources used to generate the electricity at a power plant are part of this "appetite." We are all guilty of it, so why not move on to someplace new (Moon anyone?) and start using the resources there? We're getting close to bleeding the Earth dry, so why not move off-world and take the energy burden off our home?

Slayer Check my post above i edited it i think we should focus more on ending the Military Industrial Complex than NASA check the Data i posted. The Military is much more a problem for world poverty than NASA is.

But Commercializing Space doesn't sound like such a bad Idea. I Agree with your main plee altogether!

Just NASA isn't really to blame here!

I agree, NASA has done a lot towards space exploration already. So rather than shut them down, let's just let some other companies try their hand at it. They could use NASA as a launching point (no pun intended) for a much broader space exploration industry.

That would be a great idea, it's just a matter of coming up with means of protecting them properly from cosmic radiation and other hazards. Although I suppose if we'd be capable of creating such structures, then I'm sure we'd have already figured out that problem.

I like the pic you embedded too.
