I have a great deal of respect and sympathy for my local LEO's.

I show it to them on cold winter days by providing Timmy's.

Our department just receive a statistics page last month, I think somewhere around 1200+ people died as a result from oc/cs/cn in the past 5 years compared to 350+ deaths in the past 10 years caused by a taser....I am more worried about the spray. The various sprays can cause terrible allergic reactions, asthma attacks, heart attacks and other reactions...

You mean the rights of these police criminals

The only Police that can be trusted are the ones who are associated with the oath-keepers (Police that respect the constitution and wont follow unjust orders).

If you've noticed over the past 2 decade's, they have become storm trooper's in mentality. The police ENFORCE codes. The serve and protect has slipped away. TPTB have been working overtime to make life hell. And as you know first hand or through video clip's they are doing a damned fine job at that,

I don't worry about the rights of cops, after all -- they hold the monopoly on the use of force, keep guns, and are more then capable of taking care of themselves. I just try to stay the hell out of their way, as nothing good can ever come from interacting with them.

The right of the police? Police are people. The rights of the people also are the rights to the police...

It used to be that the motto of EVERY police force in america was TO PROTECT AND SERVE...

key word in that motto is SERVE! With the great power they are invested with (namely the right to hurt or even kill you in the name of keeping order in society) Used to be GREAT RESPONSIBILITY!!

These days while the motto is still on the car, it is now just one more twist of the knife and reminder of how far things have decayed! The true PURPOSE of police in the modern era is to GENERATE REVENUE and A high arrest and CONVICTION RATE.... And while some may say there is nothing wrong with a high arrest and conviction rate. There is something wrong with it though when TIME AND AGAIN we are shown that these conviction rates are being obtained BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY whether the person they choose to prosecute is guilty or not has become immaterial. We have stopped caring about punishing the RIGHT person as long as SOMEONE gets punished!

You can attack that statement all you like, or be made so uncomfortable by it that you choose to lash out at my post. But the REALITY is we see PROOF of this EVERY DAY on the news and channels like investigation discovery! How many Forensic lab workers have been CAUGHT falsifying HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS of DNA tests to "help get a conviction"?

I'll give you a hint, the number is high enough to be frightening. (any number other than zero is high enough to be frightening but the numbers we are seeing are high enough that if you are considered a suspect in a crime ANYWHERE in the US, GUILTY OR NOT, the statistical chances of you being convicted because of a DNA test that was "helped in the right direction" to insure a conviction is actually measurable maybe as high as one or two percent.

With all of this being said... I will just leave you with this statement.

Well yes of course the Police have rights... They have the right and RESPONSIBILITY to SAY NO to their superiors when they get PRESSURED to make an arrest on a big case even with weak evidence!

They have the right to SAY NO to laws that put people in jail when they shouldn't be!

They have the right to TURN IN THEIR BADGE and WALK AWAY from the amoral and increasingly THUGGISH LAW ENFORCEMENT INDUSTRY!!!

Law Enforcement is one of those things that Should NOT be a FOR PROFIT affair!

Thanks

Hatred of the Police today is just reaping what has been sown.

This spiritual law is real. You do reap what you sow, or in other words what goes around, comes around. It is just Karma at work, and you are a witness.

The Militarization of the Police Department in the US is at the root of the problem.

Rookie Policeman are brainwashed during training that every citizen is a criminal ready to do them bodily harm…A LIE

Policing for Profit is another cause of poor relations today as well.

Violation of the citizen’s Constitutional Rights for profit :

Article [IV]
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Article [V]
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Article [VIII]
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Today Police ARE the lap dog of the powers that want to be.

Today if the Police want to have respect they must re-earn it.

They had the respect of the citizen 30 years ago but through their own actions lost it.

Respect is earned NOT given freely.

Rights for the POLICE?

I don't know too well about the rest of the world but here in The UK they have plenty. They are allowed to assault a citizen (sure, officially it should be what they deem reasonable force but very rare do they get repremanded when they breach that or go well above it and commit a full blown assault)

Of course, a member of the puiblic simply making any kind of contact with an officer can be deemed as an assault an bear the full consequences.

1200 people died from O.C.? i want to see this "report" you claim to have seen... its statistically impossible... how can 1200 people die in police custody in 5 years without it making international news? unless you live in iraq...

HellstormRising: Police are to me like many other government organizations a necessary evil. "Law and order" is something every nation needs. Having seen nations without it, I know. But I also know what happens when men are given authority over their fellow man. What erks me is police are set on some kind of higher level than other citizens which is not necessary for them to carry out their job. I say job and not duty because it is just that a job, not something they have to do or must do. I personally have no need for the police, and when I have, they were not around. No problem though, they would have arrested the wrong guy I'm sure. And I would not appreciate being handcuffed for their safety and "mine" control purposes. Why? Whats wrong with that if your not guilty? Because I don't trust you thats why and because I'm not wrong. How about I hog tie you and put you in the bed of my truck... untill I get this figured out?.... LOL! See my point? Who makes you my master? What you people do not get is that there are still real men out here that do not fear authority, but still have a love of country, morals, a sense of duty, Etc..... I do understand police need for control of a "situation" and why and how they do what they do. Yes, I do. But if you can not talk man to man without fear for your safety. I think you should be looking for another line of work.

2 weeks ago i got choked unconcious and they crushed my throat, and broke my right forearm by forcing the cuffs on as hard as they could, just to be dicks. and, i didnt even do a single thing.

it was both the cops.

Its my opinion that 3 out of 4 officers deserve to rot in hell, and i would love to send them there myself.

the other 1 in 4 are good people. but you can be sure that when i see a cop i am scared, even though i have no criminal record and im almost 30.

The system is screwed up. Last year a cop killed a girl while driving home drunk near my house, and he got off scott free. the St charles police station even covered it up and threw away evidence, and did not administer a breathalizer to the officer on the scene.

i have not read responses so for all i know this could be an april fools joke.

Cops rights? LOL . where are MY rights.

btw when i woke up from getting choked out the cops were in my apartment. illegally.

Though I agree police officers are human and last time I checked "to be human is to err", the fact still remains "a few bad apples spoil the bunch".

Do I view all officers in bad light? No not really. But whenever I see videos like the ones that has been posted above I can't help but reconsider ....

Police should have the same rights as anyone else. If a police officer is not allowed to hit me for no reason, I can't hit him for no reason. HOWEVER, if a police officer assaults me for no reason, I should be able to defend myself. That's equality, face it or try and become a communist dictator because that's what you really want: power over others.

To sum up, there shouldn't be distinctions between civilian and soldier, citizen and police officer, all rights should be equal under the law, otherwise you have a corrupt system.

Military members have less rights than citizens. And it is understood at the beginning of your service, thats why it's called service. This is necessary to maintain order in the ranks. And though hard to swallow is a must for the military. Unlike cops and other civilians a soldier can not just quit their job. Military members lose many "rights" when they join that is why most of us value our freedom when we are discharged or "get out".

I put out an honest challenge for all you police haters:

put on the uniform for 1 SHIFT, come work with me, and after that you'll have the right to tell me I'm a brain washed, violent, gun toting, steroid pumped, death deserving punk...

but I know that after being assaulted, yelled at, chasing idiots drinking and driving and not stopping, then picking up the body pieces from the resulting accident, you won't have the same outlook on my profession...

This is a serious invite. I DARE anyone to do it. But I know none of you police haters will take up the challenge... Some of you can't because you are criminals (so you hate us because we always end up stopping you from doing what you know best), and the others, well you just won't because you are damn scared little pussies...

Jeez: time for this thread to come around again already? Citizens are rightfully pissed; citizens have been tased and dragged from our cars "for fumbling with a license too long".a situation that would hardly justify escalation to an "impact "weapon.much less a taser."Pain compliance" seems to have become a new sport...
"Life and death" in the big city huh; and this outta line cop is no wet behind the ears rookie:
