If someone really, truly believed that there was no point to life, then what do you think would be their reason to go on living?

My misunderstanding.

A person who sees no point to life goes on living simply because they are already alive. I see no purpose or point of life, and even if I had no family or close friends, I wouldn't conceive of ending my life.

As I have stated in posts here, having responsibilities or obligations does not equate to a point or purpose for life.

Life is fear.
Fear is the refusal to love to infinity.
There is a Death (Ego Death) declared in all the
great spiritual traditions.
Narcissus builds a hedge around his Ego to
avoid confronting his own death, and thus loves
only himself, in his fear.

I can see how a person would not say that having responsibilities and obligations is THE point to life (as in the whole raison d'etre). However, whatever keeps you going on living is giving you a purpose to your life. Even someone who has no friends, family members, pets, or anything else that would keep them tied to this world experiences some form of pleasure in simple things like eating or sleeping. These things at least give them some reason to keep going. They may not be THE purpose to life, but no matter what, everyone at least feels that there is some reason (no matter how small) for staying alive.

Then saying that, it would be more accurate to state that a person may find a purpose or point to their life, but there is no point to life itself, more specifically, human life.

Read my post again. That is exactly what I said. A person may find a purpose or point to their life that is not necessarily THE point to life. Life may indeed be pointless, but people can create their own reasons for living.

Op who said there has to be a point to life? We're just beings living our short lives on a planet, there's nothing to figure out, because life is what you make it, nothing more nothing less.

In other words the point of life is whatever you want it to be.

The purpose of life is to milk the feeling of connection with all that is (love, appreciation, joy, freedom) and to uplift others. There is no ultimate purpose. It is just a free flow of energy that is vibrating love, appreciation, joy, and freedom.

I am not sure if I am even remotely qualified to answer such a question. I have thought about the suffering and happiness. In short, tragedy and happiness walk hand in hand. I have experienced both the ups and downs and have come to despise such feelings.

I have tried to remain neutral to feel neither ill nor caring for people around me. I did not like it.

What is the point to life you ask? I don't know. All I 'know' is this, question everything around you. Question your beliefs. Are they your own or they of others?

Question, question, question. Then when you think you have found the answer, question that answer until you have found the 'purest' answer.

I am not a guru nor do I consider myself anything. I am who/what I am.

Life is doing nothing. Every act stops. Acting nothing. All you have done is nothing. Only knowledge can be saved. The physical is for when you want to kick something. The unseen is the purpose in life. The unseen can be anything. Do the unseen. Make the unseen physical. Be blind to the world and you will eventualy see it as what it is.

I agree. And to be at peace within ourselves/ with others and to learn what true happiness is/ where it comes from.
I also believe that we will keep coming back into mortal life until we get it right. (It takes a truly evil person to be condemned to hell and most of us can't even fathom that)

To evolve as a soul, as GOD which is everything there is, to make choices, to learn, to live, to enjoy, to feel emotions, to think, to do what you want to do, to be you.

Life is nothing but a journey .

The point of this journey is to provide pathways for creator .

These pathways are basically nervous systems or their equals in all living things .

the point of life is realizing what the point of life is.

no one knows cause no one knows unless the initiator of everything says something

Being at a position in life where one askes himself what the point in life is means you've got the point.
