Everyone needs to calm down - nothing big will happen as a result of this. When the Israelis go it will be big and spectacular and whoever pushes them over the line will come off worse, but i don't think this will be the case here. It is sabre rattling by both sides in what has now become the longest running and most boring pissing contest in the last hundred years.

In my opinion the USA would not allow Israel to fire any nuclear weapon at anybody.

Thats the trouble with nuclear weapons, you can't actually use them without incurring the wrath of USA and the rest of the planet.

I said it in another thread a while back ..... if the stupid zionists put their greedy finger anywhere near the nuclear fire button .... they will be evaporated before they touch it.

I tend to agree with you, as it is a well known fact that, if Israel were to begin losing the would invoke the "Sampson option"

This a plan for attacking even their friends. Europe USA and Russia.
It sorts of means if we're going down so are you.
Nasty way of thinking.

these regime's being threatened of their power need someone to blame so bad right now. Ahem, Israel, the west. Kauf, Kauf.

Just saying I can imagine these dictators being so pissed at the west and Israel with all this democracy talk. Ahem, Iran, Libya..

Just saying the middle east is a powder keg.

Its an interesting site to watch. I am pretty calm about it just watching is all, and coming on the board giving my opinions. Usually I am way wrong, but not being paranoid and screaming about the sky falling.

It will be interesting how things settle in the middle east. With the guy talking about the crude prices I know it did not effect usa, it effected London, markets or whatever.

I just thought it was strange how the MSM, was saying how the oil prices were going up because Iranian war ships were headed to Suez..

Meh

Saudi is running out of oil, how far will they go to sell their last drops?

Since the US has developed a way to extract oil from the shale, we just found a way to decrease our independance on mideast oil by almost 50 percent over the next few decades.

incase your wondering about the nwo's blatant lie about being dependent on foreign middle east oil, the u.s. imports more oil from canada that all the middle east gulf nations combined.

I was wondering if anyone has noticed that this story was updated recently?

I just found this on a site about the price of oil..

Later, the ships were identified by an Israeli newspaper as a frigate and a supply vessel, which would not present a significant danger to the Jewish state. Israel's state-funded television said Lieberman, a far-right partner in the conservative coalition, had spoken out of turn as the Defence Ministry "had preferred to ignore" the ships' approach.

A few ships passing by is not provoking anything. Building army bases all over the world is.

According to the Canadian mainstream news Egypt will not even confirm these ships are expected. In fact an Egyptian official kind of denies it...

ctv.ca

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said the ships would cross later Wednesday, en route to Syria. He did not say how he knew it. "This is a provocation that proves that Iranian audacity and insolence are increasing," he said in a statement. Ahmed el-Manakhli, head of Egypt's canal operations room, denied the claim, saying warships must get permission 48 hours before crossing, and "so far, we have not been notified." Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said in an emailed statement that "Israel is closely following the movements of the Iranian ships and has updated friendly states on the issue. Israel will continue to follow the ships movements." Security officials said they have known of Iranian ship movements for some time and expect them to arrive at the canal Thursday. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. In Washington, the Pentagon declined to comment.

Why in the world, is Iran, moving a supply ship escorted by a loan frigate? Thru the suez canal? Maybe a probe of some kind I dunno.

Something funky in the stories about this.

Never mind, if its headed for Syria, they are trading. More then likely, which makes very little sense. Oh of course Iran's relations with Iraq, suck and I guess Turkey wont be nice and let em drive thru or fly over their country so ya, it looks like some kinda trade thing..

The Iranian regime want to force Israel to throw the first blow, so they will have a degree of justification for what will follow... They will not relent until they have provoked Israel, Once that happens Iran will enact its plan to destroy Israel, along with their allies in the Middle East and Asia.

Fortunately for Iran, the US leadership is reluctant to get involved, they know this, and will exploit that fact.

It's simple... Israel started it!

That is how it will play out, if everything goes as planned.

Hopefully the Israelis will refrain, and not be provoked, for them Iran needs to initiate hostilities so they too can justify their own devastating retaliations on Iran.

In the end, it all comes down to who will throw the first punch... Either way, there will be a fight, and one side or the other will win, neither plan to lose.

You do realize that the US has warships that are doing the same thing right off China's coast eh?
Does that mean the US is trying to provoke China into a war?

No.

Ok... update... with ``inside info``.... it's not really ``new info``... more like obvious.

It's not two warships, it's one warship and one supply ship... this isn't new.... And on the supply ship, there's thousands of tons of weapons for Hizbullah.

Not a big surprise, but Iran doing this in front of Israel and the US is pretty much daring them...

Wouldn't surprise me if the US-Israel pulls some sort of ``UN inspection`` of that cargo ship... and then Iran will get caught and will cry like a little girl.

How on Earth, an Iranian, convoy headed for Syria, to sell some food, or whatever oil can raise the crude oil prices around the world baffles me.

I am not really sympathizing with Iran, but for cripes sake its just a convoy.

here is some reference I suppose. www.timesonline.co.uk...

might be why a lone convoy is getting so much attention.

anyhow I am done investigating it.

we'll just have to see what happens.

Vitch, just read what you wrote above this post.. That makes sense.

Frigates are not warships. They are defensive ships.

Frigates - FFG Description Frigates fulfill a Protection of Shipping (POS) mission as Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) combatants for amphibious expeditionary forces, underway replenishment groups and merchant convoys.

Source

Furthermore Lieberman's (by the way he is the Israeli version of Bush) comment of Israel Might Act on "Warships" is not implying that it is a cargo ship. I also scanned through CNN and FOX news and neither one of them mentioned the merchant ship. Neither did any of the other news articles out there.

Also Might Act on the ships as previously quoted does not really imply that we might make you let us search your ship. To me it is much more blatant as in we will attack these ships. I would love to see a UN inspection on the ships because it would be awesome to find out if they really are transporting anything. Anyone remember the supposed aid to Hezbollah from the relief workers who were brutally attacked by Israeli forces and surprise there was nothing on board.

Story

As mentioned earlier about the US you are partially right in the fact that Israel probably won't do anything if the US tells them not to, but they are there own sovereign nation and being a veteran who served shortly after the first Gulf War I can assure you that we (America) sold our souls to keep the Israeli's out of the war. Israel is the instigators of more then 60% of the hostilities in the Middle East. Sure the majority of the countries hate them, but let's review.

1. Israel has the Dome of the Rock which is a holy shrine to the Muslim faith and up until recently Muslims were not even allowed to visit.

2. Israel seized land from Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and Jordan at the conclusion of the six day war, and have never even thought of giving it back and in fact imposed there own settlements onto the territory.

3. Innocent Palestinians have been killed by the retaliation of Israeli forces on Palestine for the actions of a minority of Hezbollah. This is one reason the terrorism was on a rise for awhile due to the number of innocents killed. The whole fight between Palestine and Israel started because the Israeli's were taking more and more territory from the Palestinians to make more room for the Israeli's.

I am sure Israel is itching to fire on those ships. The funny thing to me is that right now it is 4am in Israel and I would think the ships have passed by now, but there is nothing new on the news which tells me that it was all a big show in the first place.

New info... it seems the Syrian navy is on alert since February 16 ``Syrian time``... and will send ships to escort the Iranian ships out of the Suez Canal once it crosses it.

Israel navy also in alert in response to the Syrian navy alert and the Iranian ships...

So... for now, the Iranian ships have not asked Egypt to go through... so they will not cross the suez canal in the next 48 hours AT LEAST...

The warship is not really a warship, it's a frigate of the Alvand class. It's only a 1100 ton ship. A small one. It has 4XC-802 anti-ship missiles, torpedos, mortars and crappy anti-air. Interesting enough, the US sank one in 1988. Delivered in 1971.

The supply ship is of the Kharg class, 33 000 tons at full load, basically no armament. Delivered in 1984.

So no real threat there. Ships from the 70s with almost no armament. The only threat they pose would be to give lots of weapons to Hezbollah.

US carrier transits Suez Canal: navy

WASHINGTON — The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise has transited the Suez Canal on its way to the Gulf, the US Navy said Wednesday, raising the US military presence in a region buffeted by political unrest.

Traveling with the Enterprise were the guided missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf and the USNS Arctic, a combat support ship.

The navy said the Enterprise would conduct "maritime security operations" and support US-led operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I think you might want to re-examine your figures? There are more Iranian Jews in Israel than Iran.

It is estimated that around 25,000 Jews are in Iran. The vast majority of Iranian Jews have left Iran since 1948.

2006 had the number at 25,000. Reports suggest that more have emigrated since then.

Question?

Where did the Israelis get the billions and billions of dollars to pay for the technology, the radioactive materials, the nuclear missiles, nuclear submarines and other expensive nuclear add ons and pay for their maintenance and upgrading since the 1960s?

Exporting olive oil?

Egypt: Will U.S. And NATO Launch Second Suez Intervention?
By Rick Rozoff
February 2, 2011 at 17:43:10

On February 1 General James Mattis, commander of United States Central Command whose area of responsibility includes Egypt on its western end, stated that Washington currently has no plans to reinforce naval presence off the coast of that country, but added that in the event of the closure of the Suez Canal:

"Were it to happen obviously we would have to deal with it diplomatically, economically, militarily...."

(snip)

The day before Mattis' statement the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and its carrier strike group - consisting of a guided missile cruiser, three guided missile destroyers, a fast combat support ship and Carrier Air Wing One (which had been deployed for the Suez Crisis in 1956-1957) with fighter and surveillance aircraft and Seahawk helicopters - crossed through the Strait of Gibraltar from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea on its way to the Suez Canal. The warships are scheduled for operations in the Gulf of Aden off the coasts of Somalia and Yemen and in the Arabian Sea to support the war in Afghanistan.

In the words of the commander of the carrier strike group, the deployment "sends a strong signal that the Enterprise Strike Group has arrived to operate and integrate with our partners in the region."

(snip)

President Barack Obama praised the U.S.-armed and -trained Egyptian armed forces for their "professionalism," stating:

"I urge the military to help ensure this time of change is peaceful."

Gunboat diplomacy? US sends warships to patrol Suez, threaten MubarakPosted by Israel Insider on February 10, 2011 at 1:14am

US naval, marine and air forces have reportedly arrived in the Suez Canal's Greater Bitter Lake, suggesting that the US either believes that events are veering out of control or, perhaps, that Barack Hussein Obama II believes --to paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt -- in speaking incoherently and wielding a big stick.

DEBKAfile's military sources report that the American force consists of the USS Kearsarge Expeditionary Strike Group of six warships. Helicopters on some of their decks are there to carry and drop the 2,200 marines of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit which has been bolstered by two special operations battalions.

The flotilla has a rapid strike stealth submarine, the USS Scranton, which is designed to support special forces' operations. That could mean that the US is preparing to evacuate its embassy, or perhaps even snatch Hosni Mubarak "to safety."

According to DEBKAfile, the US strike force has taken up position at a strategic point opposite Ismailia between the west bank of the Suez Canal and its eastern Sinai bank, "poised for rapid response in the event of the passage of about 40 percent of the world's marine freights through the Suez Canal being threatened or any other extreme occurrence warranting US military intervention."

This is not something that just "happened" today.

This is a move by Iran to detract attention from the growing unrest and uprising in Iran. You know, the same Iran that defended the right of the peoples in the Egypt uprising, but that murders their own citizens for doing the same?

Whats good for the goose is *not* good for the gander. Just a "manufactured crisis", this time by Iran.

Are you sure you people are paying attention?

Your exactly correct in your assessment. When Israel is faced with certain annihilation all the attacking armies and their home countries will get nuked back into the stone age. It is written in the good book and its the Gog-Magog war. Iran, Russia, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Libya, Ethiopia and Sudan all will be devastated by Israel for attacking Gods land. Israeli and U.S. ballistic missiles defense systems or divine intervention will protect Israel from Russia ICBMs.
