Oh wow. Sorry Coolhanddan! I did a search too (but under the actual headline title). I certainly didn't mean to take this away from you.

Mod? Wanna close this thread?

Sorry again man!

So, I'm left wondering about dead birds, the dead D.O.D. guy and whether Sorcha Faal is really such a joke after all.

why does it seem like the defense has caused all of the mass die offs?

one could take this article anyway. either this is just a b.s. article to keep people from looking at the magnetic field and panic down. or they really did cause most if not all of the mass die offs. sickos!

I'll do one better: Why does it feel there's a humongous plan/secret underway and we're not privy to the details?

I find the Tampa airport/magnetic pole shift situation and this (which encompasses the SAME area) a little too coincidental to ignore.

But let's relax because we'll have the 'it's no big deal' ATS-crowd chiming in to put our worries to rest soon enough!

I've seen the mods say this before in cases like this " one thread in BAN and one in a general forum are allowed"

So this should be okay.

Yeah, weirdness going on to be sure.... I thought about buying another GPS just to see if the ones I had were somehow defective. There is nothing like having them get lost in a major city area like Seattle.

Who? John Wheeler? if not, what DOD guy (because he didn't work for them)

And what did Sorcha say about all of this? Can you make a brief outline?

Thanks

That is exactly what it is a jamming test. I remember hearing about the north korean having gps jamming technology a few months ago. I think Japan reported it that the GPS signals were getting turned off and on in those time frames as described. I''d put money on it.

I have two on-board GPS systems in the vehicle I drive, and for the last few weeks I've encountered several periods where they both got lost and were endlessly calculating new routes to get me back on the road. Not lost signal, the signal bars remained strong, my actual GPS position was changing, on both devices. At one point I actually had to do something I hand't done in a long time... I looked at my road maps to find a route.

But this was in the west and northwest. The worst was in northern California, southern Oregon, and in and around the greater Seattle Washington area.

Is that common? I don't own one (never will) but do they reboot or whatever it is they do, often?

I think this has to do with the pole shift. We can call it the magnetic pole shift for now but.....I think there's more to come.

The FAA notice does not say that, your link is wrongly assuming it.

READ THE FAA NOTICE!

During testing, GPS will be unreliable and may be unavailable with in a circle with a radius of 370NM and centered at 304906N/0802811W or the location known as 105.25 degrees and 52.1 NM from the SSI VOR at FL400; decreasing in area with a decrease in altitude to a circle with a radius of 325NM at FL250; a circle with a
radius of 260NM at 10,000FT MSL and a circle with a radius of 215NM at 4,000FT
AGL

Probably because my 'link' is familiar with the lies and cover-ups currently underway and is JUST suggesting a possibility of effecting other GPS's too. I don't think that's such a far stretch.

You read the official lines?
I read in between them so......this works for me.

This sounds like exactly whats going on. I'd bet money that whatever they just launched on the west coast is a new reconnaissance satellite that has anti-jamming technology on board and they're testing it by jamming the signal from the SE coast.

What does that mean or imply?
What's jamming technology?

Please explain to us techno-tards. Thanks!

Well how about reading the Flight advisory directly?

It will only effect planes equipped with GPS for navigtion, nothing else.

www.faasafety.gov...

Pilot : "this is A-1759...erm..could you kindly check my position since i can see another airbus heading my way..over"

Control Tower : "Emmm..i can see you are in the right spot..over"

Control Tower : "damn GPS...ok guys these were the last two left..everybody home"

Magnetic pole position has nothing to do with GPS, on mine you can actually select a screen and see the GPS satellites, their positions and signal from each... Among a load of other data.

GPS or Global Positioning System is entirely dependent on satellites in orbit. I have been wondering why mine have been malfunctioning, and now I am even more curious.

More baseless fear mongering?

"Don't panic..."

That's an unusual way to start off a so called: non-issue alert!

I see, already, that other read your OP, and then thought that the FAA had actually included that phrase in the official advisory! Not your fault, it was the way your source wrote it....and they seemed to just be having a bit of fun with it.

Still.....you mentioned yet again, and emphasized it. In fact, you disingenuously tied it in to the official announcement...even though it obvioulsy was NOT in that release from the FAA. Did you do that for some ulterior motive? Did it achieve the desired effect? Apparently, it did.

Just looking for any "dots" you can? Making "connections" out of disparate events, engaging in completely wild, unwarranted rampant speculation again....rather than taking a moment to investigate, learn and establish some sanity into the actual reasons, and the actual facts of the event.....?

It is a NOTAM. The sort of thing that is published all over the country, for many many reasons, such as this....in this case, something that affects only ONE aspect of air navigation technology....and, likely, will be very minor, or not at all. BUT, the rule is, when there is any chance, then go with an abundance of caution, and alert the savvy pilots to that possiblity.

THAT is about the size of this "non-issue"!!

And, any other pilot will understand this, upon seeing it. Mountain out of a molehill....again.....

Jamming technology is this really super duper future guitar,

that can turn a countries GPS tracking satellites on and off with the hit of a chord.

Who benefits (or is affected) by jamming?
I have no idea what you guys are referring to.

Yes I agree though. The launch of that secret satellite and this GPS test is interestingly link-able.

But.....allowing for a magnetic pole shift too isn't out of the contenders' corner either.

Why do we keep launching secret satellites? Who is the enemy here? Who do they need to keep such a close eye on?
Oh never mind. That list is endless and I don't have that much time to read it

Jamming by interrupting the satellite signal so that your GPS would not work.

From a pilot's perspective, what's the worst that could happen here, say if a pilot was not aware that this was happening? For some reason or another didn't see the NOTAM?? I've read where you've said before that a pilot not reading this would be highly unusual, but for the sake of speculation...,

Good analogy (for us less savvy ones) but..................

do you mean to tell me, our DEFENSE would be to create total disorder, chaos (and possibly deaths to innocent people) by turning off their GPS?
If not, what's the purpose of having that 'control'?

Please don't tell me that's what this is for?

This world is soooooooooooooooo SCREWED up !!!!!!!!

I don't mind so called expert opinions but did they even have GPS when you were a pilot??
It's quite new technology...

It's not simply this one event that makes people question what's going on..
It's all the other events that seem to be converging in such a short time span...
