Looks like Mondays the day:

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) says it will conduct a live-fire drill in waters near Yeonpyeong Island south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the Yellow Sea on Monday.

The South Korean military has dispatched at least one KDX-Two destroyer, which is equipped with cruise missiles, to the area to respond to any potential North Korean provocation.

Well then the drill is set to start in 1h18. Better be ready for any contingencies.

And if WW3 comes out of it... well it's been an honor hosting this thread.

The South Korean government boldly announced it is willing to ignite a war on the Korean peninsula rather than cancel a live fire drill in the Yellow Sea nearby North Korean and Chinese territorial waters.

They don't care anymore. The only this thing stops is if NKorea blinks.

Sure do hope you are right, keeping fingers crossed.

Just seems very likely at the moment.

Well, I guess we can start the official countdown to potential WW 3 or nothing at all... the stakes in this game are the highest we've seen since the Cuban Missile crisis where Nukes could be used and this certainly could be the tipping point for ww3... or just another Korean drama.

Tic-toc... tic-toc.

Yeah well, if North Korea starts using chemical weapons, the chances of WW3 rise probably a thousand fold.

China Declines to Condemn North Korean Shelling as South Prepares Drill

This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.

Ruskies don't take a dump without a plan, son.

Nor do the North Koreans.

The reality of this conflict is one of all-or-nothing by North Korea. They know that they will get stomped, so their only real strategy if war breaks out is to launch everything they can at once at all targets and try to volley as many missiles and artillery as it can until these are bombed to bits.

They really have a choice to do it all, or nothing at all. This could include the chemical and even nuclear options as you say V.

We'll have to see, but if I was Kim I'd be doing a synchronous attack firing everything we had armed and ready and then get it out fast as possible before the storm hits... or if they slip it could be to late and they get a lowered strike capacity. NK really should first strike imo if they are serious about going out in a blaze of glory.

That's what I would do, get it all out now and let the smoke clear.

Less than an hour.

Then you add 20-30 minutes if China/Russia launch their nukes.

I really don't think NK is crazy enough to start anything.

They obviously don't have Nukes, only tested two low yield ones and another test planned next Spring.

TBH, I think NK needs a good, how shall we say it, bum slapping to make them realise we have heard enough of their cr*p and whinging.

english.yonhapnews.co.kr...

Sources said the drills are likely to be held between 11 a.m. and noon.

Officials said they were broadcasting warnings that those staying on the island take refuge. About 280 people, including residents, reporters and government officials, are staying on the island near the Yellow Sea border between the two sides, officials said.

South Korea is watching the North's military moves closely while maintaining full preparedness to respond to possible North Korean provocations, the official said, pledging to give an "immediate and strong" response in case of provocations.

That's 2-3 hours from now.

Just saying. If North Korea starts using chemical weapons, especially at civilians, the US is likely to nuke the North.

And according to the Chinese MSM, the US and ROK are provoking the North and will be responsible for war... this ain't good.

N.Korea Deploys Rocket Launchers Along West Coast
They really gonna bomb the island to smithereens.

And forget diplomacy :

innercitypress At #UN on #Korea, both #ROK & #DPRK spoke in private meeting & blamed each other, dip tells Press. #ROK said will do exercise b/t Dec 18-21 7 minutes ago via web

This is typical asian ``we must save face`` BS.
