No, opting out means they refuse to go through the scanners and submit to the groping. Then everyone will have to be groped, which takes a lot longer time and the flights will be late, and tie up all airport personnel. There is a movement to opt out of the scanners on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Oh, thanks for the clarification
No radiation but instead molestation

I don't like that one either
I like neither

What are the people endorsing this thinking?????

In any case they are now saying that the screenings may evolve to adapt to complaints
www.politico.com...

This right here shows you that the people still have power
They are scared that the slaves will stop working and contributing fuel to the engine

But remember, remember the threat of incrementalism
A little now, get you used to it, and next step doesn't seem like much anymore

The biggest threat that this country faces is the tactic of incrementalism

With security, you loose some liberty.

Without security, prepare to have ALL your liberties taken from you.

Pick one.

edit on 21-11-2010 by gift0fpr0phecy because: (no reason given)

Nice false dichotomy.

No one is arguing for no security, people are arguing for sensible non-invasive security. This can be accomplished through metal detectors, x-ray baggage detectors, chemical sniffers, bomb dogs, and trained intelligence personnel.

Benjamin Franklin once said "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." He's absolutely right. People who trade their dignity and rights for some mock-security (back-scatter imaging doesn't penetrate the skin, thus missing any ingested explosives) deserve neither, they aren't willing to stand up for themselves and they don't understand the ideals we Americans hold so dear.

You'd have to be blind to not see that Michael Chertoff (ex-TSA admin), who sells these back-scatter scanning machines, is making money off of security theater. That's corruption at its finest.

I've watched this video and read the article, and I'm sure theres going to be some who still think this is just the only bulky target areas, the head, that they're not asking for special rights. But the others being searched all over are often wearing slim fittting pants, and there is no bulk, yet they undergo the whole thing.

So if this is being conducted like the Fox reporter assumes it is, she assumes it is being done like I suggested, and as this group IS working with the TSA to reach an understanding, you can see that to most people this is special treatment nonetheless. And yet civil liberties started to disappear with 9/11, and we all what that bag of worms led to.

www.foxnews.com...

Full transcript here as well as the video:

Here to define that special treatment is Zahra Billoo, who is a spokeswoman for CAIR, and she joins us from San Francisco. Ms. Billoo, it's good to have you on. I was looking at some of the CAIR recommendations to travelers across the United States, and here is one of the things they say to the women there. They say, "Well, before you're patted down, if you are a Muslim woman and you are flying, you should remind TSA officers that they are only supposed to pat down the area in question," that means your head and neck. "They should not subject you to full body or partial body pat-down, and you can request to pat down your own scarf and your own head and neck area." That's kind of like a self-exam, right? How -- I mean, how does that work? I'm going to feel myself on my groin. I don't even want to go there but you know what I'm saying, a little odd.....

Thank you! I didn't realize it was such a widespread concern. Good. I hope the whole country opts out on Wednesday and opts out of FLYING until they ditch this whole nonsense!

Oh come on now... surely by now you know that Mainstream media is always a few days behind ATS... aterall where do you THINK they cue their news from?

At least this is real news they can latch on to and it effects the common viewer, unlike the stupid missile/contrail nonsense that went on for days

Now back to serious business..

I asked before about the screening of these people... then I did a search

From the TSA's own Blog

Orlando Officer Arrested

I was sickened to hear about a former TSA staffer in Orlando who was recently arrested for lewd and lascivious conduct.

blog.tsa.gov...

TSA agent arrested for molestation
www.myfoxorlando.com...

From a Pilot forum
Former airport employees arrested for drug trafficking

This morning, the DEA arested a 3-man organization that transported drugs via private ramp companies across various airlines at SJU.

There are 3 warrants out as well for 3 persons who transported coc aine as mail via commercial flights from Puerto Rico to the mainland US.

The three former employees are suspected of using their airport jobs to facilitate the transport of coc aine from Puerto Rico to the mainland US aboard commercial flights.

www.flyertalk.com...

TSA Agent Arrested at LAX

They are the first line of defense in airport security but two troubling incidents involving TSA agents at LAX are raising concerns.

A TSA agent was arrested on January 3rd in Terminal One at LAX, a source told NBCLA. He had just gotten off duty and was behaving erratically, saying, "I am god, I’m in charge."

Meanwhile, a TSA Internal Affairs investigation turned up evidence of LAX TSA agents using drugs at an after-hours party.

TSA officials say a videotape of the party was of poor quality and the employees were not in uniform, but 4 employees were tentatively identified.

All 4 were tested for drugs. One came back positive and that employee was fired.

Let me "pop my cherry on this site" to take the opportunity to say "Amen!" God I so despise the stupid argument that ignores the slippery slope that airport security is creating.

These procedures have as much to do about security as "No child left behind" has to do with educating children. Does tt really need to be pointed out that a professional terrorist could take anything they want on a plane? Like plastic weapons for example? Does it need to be pointed out how well the terrorists do.... creating the maximum disturbance with the minimum effort, when dupes like the clueless underwear bomber deliberately get caught? Hey whats next? how about a nigerian prince with an explosive found up their bunghole so we can all be put against the rail and given a proctology exam by a high school dropout with an attitude?

People who excuse this crap in the name of security are dupes. They will say so much as they are sodomized with a broomstick groped and otherwise indoctrinated so that handling this way seems a perfectly natural solution to a problem.

I suppose your thinking is along the lines of "Surely if you have nothing to hide some radiation and groping should be alright. It's for your own good after all."

For many people who are not frequent flyers what's going on at the airports these days comes as a shock and they want to turn around, only to find that they can't.

Because the vast majority of people travelling on aircraft are not terrorists, and do not have anything to hide!

How are they supposed to determine who is a terrorist or not? Telepathy?

How is x-ray machines (that has already been proven to not work) and groping supposed to help determine who is a terrorist or not?

I have a serious problem, and I am not and never will be a terrorist and I pose absolutely no danger to any flight.

...again, how are the supposed to determine who is a threat or not? How are they supposed to determine who poses a danger or not?

... again, surely humiliating people in public will help them determine who is a threat or not.

Who is checking the TSA people by the way?

While you're inside the radiation booth, you have no clear line of sight to your carry on luggage. Only the TSA people has. Who seriously thinks that they are all white as snow and that not a single one of them would have the conciousness to place something... like some explosives... inside your carry-on luggage while you're in the radiation chamber? Especially given that they are under-paid and surely would be interested in earning some extra money.

Just when I decided this week to to longer fly any airline.

Ok, everyone. That money you were going to spend on that plane trip this Thanksgiving or Christmas Don’t. I said to myself heck with this harassment at the airport stuff I don’t need it or the long line. So I took that money went out and purchased me one cool looking seven inch screen stereo with navigation, not only that but the shop through in a amplifier and new speakers for $75.00 more on some manufacture deal. Not to mention the free 3 months from Sirus satellite. So now I’m traveling to my destination in my suv with a new stereo with navigation I still had money left over; that I’m saving for gas. All from one plane ticket. This is how you do it people. If you want to see changes. Stop flying!

Put that cash to good use someplace else or just save it.

Nothing like a good road trip... see the country side. It's about a 4 hr drive to LA for me... by the time one gets to the airport, fights with the parking and the security and the baggage checks it takes just as long on a good day... and when I get there I still need a car or a cab

For short business trips check out the small private companies. They are not that expensive
So unless you HAVE to fly a long distance... stick it to them

Is it just me or has anyone else wondered if the government is making the experience so bad so that people will get fed up and force the airlines to stop using the TSA and go to private security companies? The cost then goes to the airlines and then on to us as higher ticket costs? U.S. saves a ton of money.....we as consumers get screwed as usual?

you do realize that terrorists try to blend in with us. Right?

They don't walk around in big white robes, veils and turbans because that makes them stand out. They dress and look like us, and there's plenty of American (white) people that have turned on their country and decided to fight against us.

I wonder if the guy that got the urine all over him also got his luggage lost by the airline......
that would about be all that would be needed to turn me into a terrorist!!!

have they done anything about that steady stream of people flowing over our southern borders yet?
because till they do, I consider all this just our gov't harassing us....
luckily, my son will be coming home on a bus!! he got sick of them losing his luggage years ago. I any of us need to go overseas...we'll be taking a boat thank you.
the airlines were sick because of their crappy service to begin with, add this crap to it, and there is no way you are getting me on a plane....

I believe it is the saudi king that is coming for some kind of medical treatment...
bet he and his buddies just glides through the security.....
