As long as the ships are there or enroute in the 'Region', they might as well do the right thing and retrieve the gold from the vaults that was illegally confiscated/stolen from the US, Canada, England, etc. That would be something worth 'fighting' for. Otherwise.....what will be will be.....unless those Act on 'doing the right thing' when they have the opportunity to do so.

In just a few years time, folks will becoming much, much more intelligent with modern medicine/genetic/stem cell/neutroceutical/natural hoistic medicine/herbs advances etc. A computerized holographic educational system will absolutely revolutionize the educational system as young folk will be learning much more, much more efficiently, in much less time and with much less 'expense'. This will give 'hope' to the incurring generations. Currently, the open source internet is assisting the 'folk' with education they had not received in there State 'curriculums', by design, unfortunately.

Even if 34 warships were just adding another duty, the point is Obama doesn't need to spend 200 million a day to go too india... It is not HIS money... If he needs so much security because so many people want to assisinate him maybe he could of thought of another way to hold the meeting... This man is going to PARTYYYYYYY and in India we know it..

Not an obama fan, but the president NEEDS protection. 34 ships might sound like a lot but a 300 mile radius in the see IS a lot. It is like in star trek, when the romulans were trying to sneak in suplies during the Klingon civil war. to make the techion net large enough the ships needed to be spread out to cover the space. sorry that was the best example that most people would know. the american economy is a mess, having india as a major trading partner would really help our economy. you have to spend money to make money

Has anyone considered how vulnerable the rest of the American forces will be with 34 warships gathered in one place? Seriously, this is a really bad move. I smell something funny.

OK..I've read this entire thread and frankly something smells to high heaven.

I've been following the runup to this "visit" for a while and the coincidences just seem to pile up day by day. First the reversal of the earlier decision to leave the Obama children in Washington, then the announcement that 40 aircraft (besides Air Force One) would be making the trip carrying most of the White House Staff plus thousands of "top business leaders" from this country and now the announcement that the Navy would be assigning 34 ships to patrol off the Indian coast to guard against sea launched missiles. It just doesn't add up. If there was sufficient danger to warrent this level of protection, the visit would have simply been cancelled. If, for some reason as yet unknown, the meeting was of such earth shaking importance as to require the presidents personal attendance no matter what the risks, would he take his children?

As the "what ifs" began to accumulate I started thinking about the constitutional succession of the presidency. My first thought was that if Joe Biden was going along for the trip that would leave us with Nancy Pelosi as next in line. Now THERES a scary thought! But it would seem that Joe will be back home during the visit to India - but then things start getting scary again when it was announced that Bibi Netanyahu was going to leave home during yet another military action against Gaza (just announced today) in order to fly into New Orleans to spend some quality time with Biden and Hilary Clinton while Obama cavorts in India.

As if that weren't enough to make one wonder, the second leg of Obamas trip will take him and the family to Indonesia. Indonesia is also in the news this week but not because of the Obama visit, it seems that they have at least 8 currently erupting or "rumbling" volcanos, daily earthquakes and other geophysical anomalies occuring at the present time. Seems like an odd time for anyone who has ever heard of Krakatoa to visit Indonesia.

Something is up. I have no idea what, but something is in the wind and I get the distinct impression that we're not going to like the smell of it when it hits us.

With all media hype surrounding the Iranian president, the simpsons nuclear attack prediction and this ridiculous overkill for 1 man common sense tells me some shizzle is about to hit the fan i mean it is the same thing what happend before 9/11 send the protection planes away, this time send the 34 warships away from America what for? to make it vunerable?, I smell a fish if America gets another 9/11 type attack done on it say by nuclear bombs and the blame is pointed to Iran the 34 warships and 40 planes are only a hop and skip away from Iran take a look at google map and see how close India is from Iran. Modern US war strategy has been nonsensical. We would televise our intent to start bombing. The enemy would need only turn on a TV to find out what we would do next and when. If I was going to attack Iran, which is a completely stupid thing to do, I would at the very least make it a surprise. Take out their anti-air defense quickly. Perhaps the expensive trip to India with billion dollar spending spree and 26 warships is just a cover story.
