i like how the government is broke for somethings and have unlimited wealth for other things. 200 million dollars for lets say 7 days can open superstate of the art hospitals in 5 major cities and treat people for free and pay staff for atleast a year. provided you use a normal building contractor, and not one of washingtons inhouse corporations.

you can take two things to bank from the government: when money is needed to help americans they're broke.
when money is needed for their pet projects, repay their corporate campaign contributors or pay to further their personal agendas money is no object.

no wonder they directly take your taxes from your paycheck. no sane person would willingly give their hardworking money for politicians to live the high life while giving not even the bare minimum back. like guaranteeing your health.

They just create it with a signature.

33rd parallel anyone?

He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier witch will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.

I think the bottom line of this story is that 34 warships including a carrier is an awfully big stick to carry on a social visit, unless you're expecting trouble.... or intend to start some?

I wonder what's really going down.

First post; longtime lurker and thought I'd finally make an account.

Anyways, from what I can see there's been a real vibe of uncertainty these past few days, mostly about the false flag nuclear attack and this trip, and it's obvious both are related, even if by pure coincidence.

I can see why Obama would want full military protection when going to what still is a dangerous place like Mumbai, but isn't this a tad overkill? I mean it's obvious that a lot of these warships were already stationed near India anyway, but from the reports it seems they're now on constant alert, and possibly regrouping up nearer to India... Just incase?

The warships clearly aren't on alert to stop anything happening to Obama, that's not the point of a warship. They're there to monitor the ships coming in and out of India, and of course to retaliate if anything did happen to Obama. Or perhaps, did Obama visit India simply to make all of the ships regroup up, incase anything happened to happen to the US during his trip?

Or they could simply be there as a show of power, and to further strengthen relations with India and surrounding countrys by showing the firepower the US has. I mean if you had a friend, and if every time he visited your house he would have 34 armed troops waiting outside, bring in 40 trained police dogs and would have several loaded guns himself, you wouldn't want to piss him off, would you? That seems to be the main effect this would have on India and more importantly Pakistan and Iran if this trip is successful.

Despite that, everything still seems very fishy, and this elaborate visit seems quite uncalled for at a time of such economic strain.

I don't understand. Are you saying that the NDTV report is false? They are a reputable news source.

This one makes the most sense to me. We get attacked, and they just happen to already have ships close to the country that "attacked us".

The India Times where this story orginated is akin to The Globe Batboy story. Security detail and costs are similar to Bush and Clinton's trips to the region. Just as the whole 'False Flag' aspect of this trip will prove to be false, so is the 34 warships and $200 million a day aspect have no basis in fact.

To answer your question.. 200 Million a day!
2nd line!

Can we get a source for this $200 million a day? I saw Michelle Bachman mention this number on Anderson Cooper last night and after the interview, Cooper said that the $200 million/day claim was from a blog and not factual. He said CNN contacted the WH and while they couldnt give exact figures they said that it was comparable to the trip that Clinton took in the 90s(previous record trip). That trip cost $50 million for the entire thing, not per day.

So again, anyone claiming $200 million/day, please cite a source for this number.

Thank you.

Yes I'm saying it's false. Some people think FOX News is reputable, and they make # up every day. 34 warships is hard to hide. If the pentagon is lying, everyone will know it. I don't think they're lying(this time).

The 34 warships have been stationed in and around the Gulf for years, Obamas visit has put them on alert and possibly made them regroup. The term "sent from US" is whats wrong, these ships haven't been sent from the US as a group in years, but they are right near India right now regardless.

India is one of our closest allies. Their news agencies don't usually fabricate facts. They are actually more accurate than our news agencies. I tend to trust NDTV on this one. I'm sure there will be proof of the 34 warships...Let see if any pictures emerge of this event.

I'm still not convinced that something bad will happen this weekend, but I doubt that NDTV would be so bold to deliberately report a wild story regarding 34 warships if it was not true. I mean, that's really something hard to lie about, especially in a country of 1 Billion.

WOW! That's allot of firepower for just a simple visit! I don't even know what to think about this whole thing,no President has ever had a visit with this much resources. It almost seems like they expect something bad to happen,I gotta admit it has me a bit concerned.I know a thread already exists on the visit, but I didn't see anything about 34 warships, that's why I posted this.

I wrote about this on Godlikeproductions, and this is unheard off truly. 34 warships to protect against an attack? The terrorists who attacked Mumbai came in on ships but it was a small group of 20 not a division of troops. It almost looks like if DC is attacked while obama is away then he will have the ability to continue govt. from where he is at and have essentially a very large taskforce of military and their ships to protect him out of country while he commands from afar. That is the only reason, 34 ships and one is a carrier I believe.

That doesn't mean they are lying now. 34 warships IS comical imho... seriously. Nothing like this is being "sent" from the US to India, it's ridiculous

OK, not that anyone will read this, but this story is completely out of control.

A reporter in India wrote a story which is where the 200 million per day came from. He was a person who had no way of knowing the number but he wrote it anyway.

Blogs and Internet News sites picked it up and spread it all over the Internet, including here. Then a few MSM sites ran with it based on the flood of Internet News stories and it was wrong. Only the one source who has no way of knowing what the costs are and he wildly exaggerated it.

As too the ships, that is also another Internet generated myth and untrue.

From ABC.

He acknowledged that a Presidential trip requiring security needs “should not come as a surprise to anyone” and that the Defense Department “does play a role in support of Presidential missions.” He said it was customary to not discuss such security requests, but “I made an exception in batting down this absurd notion of there being 34 ships, or more than 10 percent of the Navy, deployed in support of this trip. That is most certainly not the case.”

Don't know why I'm bothering as most won't read but the 34 ships is not true and in fact almost insane.

Now all that remains is to sit back and watch the associated threads continue their discussions of stories that were never true. Carry on.

34 war ships sent from the US is BS.
The ships were already in the area and just moved off the area for the visit.

When you find the names of the ships you will find them already deployed to the area we keep a number of ships in the Indian ocean for afghanistan or off Africa for the pirate problem.
They just moved them closer to India for his visit.
