Can people PLEASE do a little research before taking a sound byte from Fox and repeating it as fact (something they are notorious for doing). This is patently FALSE. This number came from some anonymous source in India. Just because you read it on the Internet (or heard it on Fox), doesn't make it true!

What constitutes "proof"?

As far as I can tell the source is a foreign news agency and this is certainly not the first time news has been reported quoted unnamed sources. There is no doubt that such extravagant trips have been made by past presidents, that is outside the scope of this thread. Perhaps someone should make one.

You do realize that the right wing media does the same thing right? It's not a left or right thing, it's a product of our 24 hour news cycle. If you have a show, how can you not talk about the top stories of the day? And they all tend to use similar if not identical language.

Now let's see if the mods "deny ignorance" and place this in the hoax forum.

waiting..........

Still waiting.........

I would think that at the very least, this thread would be locked until the Government Accountability Office releases the actual expenditures.

I suppose we now know what the ATS puppet-masters political leanings are.

Say, you don't deny ignorance as much as you advertise, huh?

From wikipedia...

A hoax is a deliberately fabricated falsehood made to masquerade as truth.[1] It is distinguishable from errors in observation or judgment,[1] or rumors and urban legends that are passed along in good faith by believers or as jokes.[2]

There is nothing to indicate the the news agency that ran this story was involved in a hoax. If unnamed sources are deemed not credible because they are simply "unnamed" sources, then quite a lot of news reports are hoaxes by your definition. Prove it is a hoax.

I say the one I quoted will do. Fabricated falsehood made to masquerade as truth.

I will prove it once the GAO releases the expenditures.

In the mean time, let's lock the thread. Nothing more to discuss on the issue until the GAO releases the information.

CNN does nothing to refute the actual numbers because they can't. Cooper goes out of his way to say how CNN is nonpartisan, what a hoot! Cooper uses a Clinton trip and says something to the affect that this is how much presidential trips typically cost. No such thing... different era, different part of the globe, different president.
The Republicans have run with this story, no surprise.
I don't know how accurate the number is, but that was the number reported. For them to act like they have never had news from unnamed sources is a joke. They ALL have sources that remain anonymous. '
The Pentagon claims the 34 warships is false, probably true. But our federal government can spend whatever amount of money on whatever they want to spend it on regardless of how bad our fiscal health is, that is the story here.

Ok. The MSM picked up on this now and they are refuting the numbers that have been floating around, laughing at how absurd it is, but GIVE NO actual numbers.

It's like a kid hearing from his buddy that Santa is not real and the parents saying "Oh, Tommy, *laughs* why on earth would you believe that? Go along and play now."

If the numbers we've gotten are not true, give us the actual numbers dammit. The fact that they let the numbers fly around for any amount of time before they said anything about it stinks to high heaven.

Let me try this again. Do you honestly believe that this trip is costing more than the war in Afghanistan?
Is that really what people are accepting here?

You do realize that anything he can do there, can be done via a secure teleconference? Are you saying you like government waste? Why?

He's checkin' out his new palace digs as leader of the world govt.
Hey cut him some slack; he's a nobel peace prize winner!

Why should they even have to respond to such absurd nonsense?

If you took the $200mm USD / day seriously in the first place you have other problems and should seek out a course in mathematics.

Well, if you can give me an accurate count of how many troops we have in Afghanistan, and how many "troops" we have protecting Obama,
and some numbers on the military hardware in action in the two theaters in question,
I will give you an answer.

Thats The same thing i thought too. does anybody know how much it costs to rent a room out of the taj mahal? you multiply that by 500 and there is only but a fraction of the cost. also obama will be doing minute by minute updates on the white houses website from his trip if we follow his updates and do the math we could get a somewhat estimate of the costs. The Navy can say whatever they want but there are already Warships sailing outside of india, they do it regularly. this could be the biggest arms sales in History

Indian Waiter: One bottle. Yes Sir.

Sir Obama: No, one Bottle for each of our party, fool.

Indian Waiter: Um, okay, 3000 bottles. Got it. How will you be paying?

Sir Obama: The good credit of the American people, of course.

(Laughs all around)

Well Obama Also Has The Secret Nuclear Launch Codes With Him On This Trip. It Sounds To Me Like This IS AN ARMS DEAL he Has All The Equipment Going With Him to Show Off to India. This IS only gonna further the russian hostility for our country And may even provoke a war between india and iran to get us into iran. I dont know but i will follow this story. Also Supposedly the webbot prediction has started on today. i would like to see how that plays out...

I have asked where anyone in authority has said how much this trip is really going to cost, that's all.

Doesn't anyone wonder why they don't just tell us some figure?

For some reason it is classified information, they well not tell us how much it actually cost, for security reasons?

I dunno the reasons,

So maybe it is only 199,000,000 a day.

Honestly does it seem like that much?
