That's mainly the part I focused on. She may still have been appalled at Dr. Laura

Is that supposed to be your attempt at humor...by using what you think is how all black people talk?

I love the assumptions that I am black though.

lol. only white guilters would respond like that.

no, that's what george jefferson says. ask him if he was black.

never ever thought you were black, hence the white guilter comment.

No...not white guilt...just anti-bigots and racists.

As I said, you don't get it. You are clueless.
There is nothing to explain to you.
And I am not at all interested in you responding to me.

I think Palin got involved because she saw it as a popular point of view. Perhaps also one that she agreed with. Whte people are tired of treating certain minorities with such deference, walking on eggshells, giving them affirmative action and all that stuff.

Dr. Laura? Really, I should be thankful I can hear her hateful voice everyday? The woman openly spits animosity at her mother and her sister. She needs to worry about her own damn self.

You are just shouting in the wind to try and convince people something you cannot possibly believe themselves. Starting things has nothing to do with it. See if you can get off on a murder charge just because you did not start it. Dr. Laura is a mean and hateful person who does nothing but tell people why they are wrong when she herself has quite the sordid past that got her where she is today. She said something that did not play well to the sponsors but it does not matter. She quit on her own because she decided to. You cannot cry for her. No one censored her. She quit.

Yes...whites are so discriminated against.

Sorry bud...but this whole comment is just ignorant.

As a white person working in an urban, minority based environment, I can 100% testity that I have received racist remarks almost on a daily basis, but never given one out.

Where's my support group? Where's my sympathy?

If the situation were reversed, it would be headline news.

THAT my friends, is why America is fatally flawed.

You display true ignorance by not recognizing that racism does and can work both ways. In fact, I dare say most politicians are blissfuly unaware that racism is not relegated to being perpetrated by a white individual towards a minority.

But that's totally fine, it's only bad if the one being racist is white. That's the real eye-roll.

How can we evolve as a country if we can't elimintate simple and totally immoral double standards?

In fact, I dare any caucasian individual here that thinks it's "ignorant" to believe that white people can be the recipients of discrimination:

Come work with me for a week. Endure the nonsense I have to endure on a daily basis.

See how it makes you feel.

Then come back and call me ignorant.

I can't stand this crap. It's nonsense.

I am really tired of this issue. I was watching the Cleveland Show on Sunday night, and Cleveland was beating up another character on the show. (Cleveland is black and the other character was white). Cleveland called the other character: WHITE TRASH, HONKY, AND CRACKER. I do not think anyone should be using racial epitaphs, but I don't understand the double standard.

Honestly, all these race threads follow the same pattern:

· OP make a thread about an issue
· The issue is discussed for 5-30 posts
· An argument about racism starts
· Continue for another 300+ posts with the main issue rarely being noticed as the main race argument takes over

As far as Dr. Laura goes, I don't even know who she is (I don't listen to the radio that much anymore), but after listening to her for a couple of minutes, I already want her out of my ear.

If 2013 comes with no Doomsday event and Palin as President, I think the global elite's plan of depopulation won't need to be implemented by an outside force -- we'll be doing it ourselves.

That's because it's comedy. Have you ever seen All in the Family? Sexist, racist and funny. It made these issues look as stupid as they are. Dr. Laura isn't a comedy as far as I know.

One of my best friends is Dominican, with African ancestry, and even he complains about how much of a double standard actually exists when it comes to racism.

If a product is out of stock, I'm a racist.

If I can't give a customer a refund because they don't have a receipt, I'm a racist.

If I have to fire someone because they brought a knife to work and attempted to injure someone, I'm a racist.

Add that to the customers that call me the "c" word daily.

The level of nonsense is off the charts. And you know what? It's because people are so ignorant of this that it gets perpetuated.

Yeah, we're really progressing as a society.

I don't judge anyone based off anything other than character. Too bad some people still feel the need to judge others based off skin color, and the majority of people I've dealt with that fit that criteria have not been caucasian. So please, spare me.

I don't care what it is. It is a demonstration of racism. It makes the statement that it is okay for blacks to call whites this, and whites can't retaliate.

This is sending the wrong message to our children. If we are going to tip toe around the n-word, we need to tip toe around all of the other racial language.

I don't hear people on that same show calling Cleveland a N-word. It is a double standard.

And by the way, all in the family was attempting to show show the ignorance of racism, and sexism. I am sorry if you didn't get that.

It is her First Admendment right to drop the N Bomb. Americans have become to big babies, all he called me a name, I think Ill run to Jesse Jackson and try to get a paycheck. Stop Crying whatever happen to Sticks and Stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me?

If someone wants to be an Idiot and Use Racial Slurs, gay slurs, or any other Slur they can think of... Its there RIGHT to use said words. Cry all you want it was Dr Lauras Right to use it. It is after all just a word...

Now if she said to go kill All Blacks or N-word then that where it gets to be a problem.

Sure, she has the right to freedom of speech which is guaranteed by the first amendment. She hasn't been arrested and nobody is filing charges. That doesn't stop the public backlash that comes along with speaking out of line. That doesn't mean that her producers shouldn't influence her to end the show.

There are certain words that are taboo within our society. I have the right use obscenities in a public restaurant; however, that might offend the people around me. If the table next to me has kids present, then I would really be out of line by using the obscenities. Using your argument I could say that they are just words and I have a right to use them. In reality, we all know that it would be in bad taste to speak that way.

Has anyone here ever head overweight comedians joking about themselves, or overweight people joking about being overweight amongst each other? If you throw a skinny athlete into the mix, one that is making fun of overweight people then the humor gets uncomfortable. Most of us have a good situational awareness and know when a comment is in bad taste. The comments Dr. Laura made were obviously in bad taste.

"she's a partisan hack"

...Hell, she's not a partisan hack, she's just a hack. A total, 100% opportunist. She hates free speech, she hates a free press, she hates anything she believes threatens her. She is a national embarassment and the absolute reason why McCain was unqualified for president -- his horrendously bad and cynical choice for VP. He chose putting the entire world at very serious risk by selecting this freak.

Make no mistake, Palin is genuinely dumb, you can see it hers eyes just like you can see dumbness or intelligence in the eyes of dogs. She also is bred into that bizarre radical pentacostal sect that believes in some serious weird sh*t and is doing all it can to elect pols who will usher in the End of Times.

Just for anybody who doesn't know, the Cleveland Show is a spin off of The Family Guy. Both shows are comedic animations which use a fair amount of irony.

The show has three creators and none of them are African American.

Actually, that is not true and there is no such thing as a "public restaurant" (maybe a school cafeteria?). Restaurants are private establishments, private businesses and you can be thrown out for most anything the proprietor deems justifiable (and they have the right to refuse service to you too for various reasons). I've no doubt you'd not speak obscenities in such place, but know that if you do, you can scream 1st Amendment all you want and it will just get you tossed out and maybe arrested for disturbing the peace.
