Very good point my friend. Though both of them had the balls to ware uniforms while at war. and not send women and children in as human fodder and shields.

But I fail to see how a mosque would be an insult to the muslim victims.

Isn't is quite possible that some muslims denounced their faith in the aftermath of 9/11? So there might possibly be cases where they could be offended.

Another thing that is commonly being claimed is that "they" are taking over "our" country. I am forced to assume that "our" refers to Americans, as America is surely owned by Americans. Therefore to refer to Muslims as "they" implies that they are not Americans, for how can an American take over America??

First, maybe they get a little concerned when they look across the pond at the UK...

Next, how can an American take over America? Easily. Coups and revolutions are commonplace in history. And we know who carries them out, don't we?

Good night Lucidity. The main difference is you seek answers and acceptance for those who took yours. I simply seek vengeance for those who took mine. and will NEVER, EVER FORGET.

And thus why you will always and forever be filled with hate.

Can you claim that you are better than those that have wronged you with an attitude of vengeance?

The most ironic thing to me is how this "movement" against the "Ground Zero Mosque" is made up of people who are "against" it for 100 different reasons. For some it's sheer bigotry or maybe even racism. For others pure ignorance of the facts. Some simply think it's insensitive. In others we see fear or maybe anger or outrage. For some it's religious. Still others are opposed on sheer emotion. Some do it for political reasons. Some are doing it to sell books or make money on speaking fees. And they all have this nice convenient rallying point, maybe not even realizing what others who are on the same "side" are doing here.

For example, someone "against" the building of the center may be against it out of pure sadness for the 9/11 families, maybe not even realizing that not all the 9/11 families are opposed. Good-hearted, well-intentioned people are finding themselves on the same side of the argument with those who truly hate or are doing this for religious reasons, without even realizing what's going on. That's one of the thing that really sucks about this.

[Edit to change "hilarious" to "ironic" because that's what I really meant and because it's not funny at all.]

there are established mosques around the vicinity of ground zero.
there is no need for a new mosque.

use the ones already available!!

do not tell me i am interfering without your constitutional right because i am not!!

i want a new goddam nuclear power plant built in nyc but you know what, i will live with those already providing me power somewhere else!!

Talk about hate...remember this?

I don't know about Sharia law, but it sounds right up the Right Wingers alley, I don't know why y'all aren't endorsing it. I mean it really is exactly what you all want anyway right? The Right cares about freedom about as much as a sociopath cares about anyone else.

Am I wrong? Look at the above poster child for vengeance. Hell, look at all the right wingers constantly screaming for blood on all sorts of issues, from Immigration, dealing with our OWN government, Politicians, to the Middle East. I am surprised that the lot of you aren't lining up at Al Quada camps to find out sharia law best practices.

I think those who want to equate 9 11 as a declaration of war by the entire Muslim population of the planet are in for a hard reality check. That card was played to take physical control of the third largest source of oil in the world and scare the second largest into line, its purpose is served. The United States is powerful and relevant because of trade--and despite the flawed logic that America is rich because America is blessed by God being the prevailing myth of the nation, the french, Spanish, Russian, Austrian British etc felt the same way as their empires collapsed. Do you honestly believe alienating over a billion people will make America stronger if those same people ally with the Chinese or the Indians or despite White American views--the British, who are going out of their way to show contrasts between themselves and Americans in future trade wars.
The crusades are over, but the mentality might not be. America has played her cards very well during the last seventy years and the elaborate method of using currency valuations to do the job of physical occupation is a profound leap over the European economic models but it would be wasted if the perception that America is just another Europe persists and reminds non white peoples of a common enemy.

Actually, they are protesting mosques all over the country now so that tosses that excuse right out the window. Thanks Tea Party!

I AM talking specifically about the one in NEW YORK aka GROUND ZERO!!

So am I.

THEY can protest whatever they want. And WHAT excuse?

Sure they can. If you claim it is not about the mosque but the location and yet Tennessee is not far enough away from ground zero, then what location is ok for it? See, if it was just about location, then they would not be protesting a mosque in Tennessee. How is that one insensitive to 9/11 victims? Obviously it is not about location, it is about Islam. THAT EXCUSE.

I am TELLING YOU there will NOT BE BUILDING A MOSQUE at the vicinity of GROUND ZERO!!

Super. You have no idea how much stock I put into words written on a UFO forum by complete strangers that demonstrate trouble following a conversation from point A to point B. Tell me other stuff too if you like.

That is NOT DENYing them their right to freely practice their religion.

Just the right to build their house of worship in a place legally defined as such a place where they have said right.

AND.

If there are Already SEVERAL MOSQUES in the VICINITY, WHY build another one??!!

When a man and woman love each other very very much, they give each other a special hug. 9 months later a stork brings a whole new person by the house and gives it to the man and the woman. When this happens, the two people become 3 people. This happens all the time in nature and it may surprise you to find out Muslims are human too. They also multiply.

Did I mention the Catholic church being built nearby? Yeah, it is down the street from another Christian church.

Hmmm........

Suspicious that they already have one Christian church and they are building another. Now either it is because they are running out of room because the congregation is growing or they are secretly planning terrorist attacks and thought a shiny new, expensive, media saturated building would be the best place to do it in. You tell me.

to sh*t on the graves and memories of those who were mercilessly KILLED in 9/11?

Like the American Muslims that were killed in the towers and Pentagon that day?

I mean seriously, A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS, comes out of nowhere, at least nowhere they are willing to disclose, to build a Mosque on top of the graves of 3,000 Americans, and Americans are willing to support this?

Please define "on top of"

Muslims would never let the west build a Haliburton office in Central baghdad... so why should we let them build a mosque at ground zero.

there' needs to be some cultural sensitivity .

When you make unfounded accusations against a person or a group, be prepared to defend yourself. Like with a linky thing to proof that the TPM "are protesting mosques all over the country now".

Sure. How about this one?

Tea Party Movement Protests Mosques Across USA

Maybe this one?

California Tea Party will bring dogs to anti-mosque protest

Funny, all I really meant was thanks tea party for fomenting this anti-American hate-filled, protest anything not White, Christian, and Republican for giving us the atmosphere the welcomes groups of angry morons to protest angry moron ideals but hey I found the links anyway.

Interesting aside: one of NY's candidates for governor vows to use eminent domain to stop the mosque.

Paladino vows 'eminent domain' for ground zero-area mosque

Republican gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino is upping the ante in the debate over the planned ground zero-area mosque, saying in a new statewide radio ad that he would use the governmental power of eminent domain to prevent the project from happening.

www.politico.com...

Gosh, too bad Paladino is clocking in at about half the support of his opponent in NY. I am sure he would fair better in Tennessee though. Maybe time to go back to making pizza and stroking his gun.

I forgot... what is the Sharia equivalent of Freedom of Speech and Religion again? You want us to celebrate the stoning of women and hanging of homoseshuals because....???

Let's compare apples with apples, i.e., law with law, Constitution with Sharia. Not religion vs law, or islam vs Constitution.

How about American law Vs. American law?

Why do you need to stretch so far to try and make it out to be something else? This is only about American law- under which they have the right to build that mosque but not the right to stone anyone to death. There are over 100 mosques in NYC now. Is stoning legal there now?
