I don't know about Sharia law, but it sounds right up the Right Wingers alley, I don't know why y'all aren't endorsing it. I mean it really is exactly what you all want anyway right? The Right cares about freedom about as much as a sociopath cares about anyone else.

Personally I don't see the connection between freedom of religion and sharia law. Frankly I would think that our constitutional laws would trump sharia law. I think a judge would agree with me.

Why are you assume that this kind of thing would infrect or be tolerated in America? Will it happen randomly? Maybe But things just as horrible happen in America every day and they are dealt with. If someone were to be stoned to death in Times Square, don't you think the police would stop it? I mean what are you envisioning here? Do you not believe the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and our other laws are strong enough to withstand the invasion of Sharia law? Do you know that these acts you speak of are not even all that common among Muslims? Never mind Westernized or American Muslims. They are the exceptions and not the rules.

im still trying to figure that out myself

constitution does give freedom of religion and since sharia law is a major part of any muslim the constitution guarantees the freedom to practice sharia law

stoning and hanging and cutting off womens noses etc is legal under sharia law since it trumps us constitutional rights they can not be prosecuted.

now see how they can twist that?

Sorry I wouldn't believe the NYT if it came gold embossed on silk. Not with their record of bias.

From somebody who lives in an area with many copperheads, they won't kill you. You may wish you were dead but usually doesn't happen. Cotton- mouths on the other hand, which live in the same area as copperheads will kill you very fast. Even better radical muslims won't only kill you instantly but hundred's of others. Those are the ones to look out for..

Lies. Those are just outright lies.

If any of those things happened here, the person who did it would be brought up on criminal charges. Period, end of story. Their religious freedoms wouldn't be a viable defense.

This fear rhetoric you all have is wearing thin, this hate rhetoric that you all have is wearing thin.

This bigotry has to be stopped. It's a bunch of crap and it should have no place in America. This is supposed to be the land of freedom and tolerance not fear mongering ass hats purveying hate.

Purveying Hate?

You talk in a hateful derogatory manner towards a female, the wife of a fellow poster on this thread, by using hateful lewd comments in regards to your fntasy of their sex life.

Then you flat out tell the same member, gunzcoty, he hates his own wife.

Your comments are purveyors of hate, what makes anyone else's comments more loathesome than yours?

I know they won't kill you....most of the time. As I said, I've been bitten twice.

And, again, I'm not afraid of terrorists. It's a sad fact of life that terrorism can strike us at anytime, anywhere, from any direction or extremist organization. That's always been a fact of life. And I'll be damned if I condemn and entire religion or people for the acts of a few criminals OR change my way of life or living or let that fear compromise my beliefs, values, morals, or principles. But that's just me.

Look simple thing we we should be asking: "Do any of you back Shariah law"? If so explain why. This goes out to every Muslim and Non Muslim, specifically in the U.S. Why would you ever support Shariah law?

Exactly. What they fail to admit is that to a muslim, the religion is the law. A mosque is much more than a simple place to worship.

You're right about sharia trumping American law.

Look at Britain. I had a Brit tell me recently that the US is only a few years away from what has happened to the UK.

Fine you know what, you xenophobe bigoted people win, just remember this thread when you are complaining about your rights being violated. Just remember that you didn't support the constitutional rights of others and so you won't get any support from me.

I am sick and tired of the circular logic and flawed fallacies shown by you bigoted, moronic, hateful, idiots!

Man, this thread is just exploding so fast it's incredible. And as usual, most people are just repeating themselves at this point.

Those who are being logical are losing an uphill battle. Those who are being judgmental and irrational about this simple, harmless mosque will know who they are, because they DEMAND that they are actually the logical ones. In other words,

"I believe I am being logical and here's why" = logical one

"I am without a doubt being logical and I don't care what you say" = not a logical one, and probably one of the idiots trying to say this mosque should be dismantled.

Classic case of self-exposing bigotry. You can't argue with them so I have nothing more to say. Have fun with your forehead-smacking thread.

This is really a stupid manufactured controversy. I would love the day when people would actually spend 30 seconds researching things instead of whipping their throbbing outrage out and chasing people around.

Facts:

1: Manhattan is only 33 square miles in size. You know, 13 miles long and less than 3 miles wide. This means EVERYTHING will be close to the 9/11 site.

2: The United States has a certain thing called the constitution: This restricts the government from interfering in reasonable exercising of religion. In my opinion one death cult is no different from another.

3: Why aren't Christian churches banned in Oklahoma City? Because that would be stupid. So is the outrage over this. The mosque itself would be in a small building that used to be a Burlington Coat Factory storefront. It is not some staging ground to flaunt or stage attacks or whatever else opportunistic politicians would have you believe for their own gain.

Please research crap. Please PLEASE research things... The issues are too important to keep broadcasting propaganda without any degree of thought.

It doesn't appear to me that they actually want to hear any facts or do any research. If you notice in any of the numerous threads about this, most facts posted are summarily ignored and never discussed. Direct questions never get an answer. Big clues right there as to what we're dealing with here. And oh, by the way? They come in teams and star each other too. That's so cute.

Way to avoid questions, Communist or not? I like to know the mindset I'm debating with. Satire, or not? Come on simple yes or no. PLEASE. Shouldn't be that hard to admit your true beliefs. I honestly want to know.
Here, I'll make it easier for you. I'm a patriotic American, who not only believes in the constitution but am an acctive foe of all those who would tear down my country. Including those who would build a mosque on a gravesite. I'm not religeous in the slightest though I believe in a supreme being. I believe in a world run for the citizens by the citizens. I believe in complete information disclosure to all citizens of the world, and I believe in absolutely no government control, unless it helps somebody who could by no other means help themselves. Ok your turn. Please?
