It could be I have read nothing on injury, but ya breaking a rib in a fight will suck the life out of you. If you seen some of the older fights were it happens you could tell right away....The only one I can rememberer of the top of my head is the shogun vs rampage fight in pride fc. From what I remember is that shogun broke rampages rib with a knee in the clinch early in the fight, then after that it was all down hill. You could even see rampage covering up and going in defensive mode...It was one of the worst one sided beat downs fights I'v seen, at the end rampage was against the rope on his ass, while shogun was soccer kicking him straight up in the face, and rampage was just taking it, before the ref steeped in and stopped it.

Silva is a master and I hope he has not moved below his peak. Vitor will surely bring either the best or worst out of Silva though.

I do not think it will go past round 2, you have two strikers both dangerous and the first one to make a mistake could get knocked out or beat up. But I think Silva has the edge, and if vitor is smart he will test the waters, and if silva is on his game, he would be smart to take it to the ground.

A good wrestler has always been Silvas weakness. Henderson proved it in thier match when in the first round he did the same thing Chael did, but Henderson's wild striking got him caught with one of those deadly knees and opened the door to his defeat.

Ya wrestling is his kryptonite, and chael is an annoying always on you type of wrestler, it's more his ability to just get on your nerves and control you on the ground that wins him fights, he said it himself in one of his fights I watched he breaks people down and makes them give in. But whatever was silvas problem in that fight, chael has the type of style that will always give a dude like anderson problems, but given that he was unable to defeat silva even when it looked that silva was at his worst, if there is a rematch I think silva will handle chael's style and take the win.

Looks like we won't be seeing Chael vs Anderson for a while now since UFC suspended him.

I think Vitor takes Anderson myself but we will see. I would also like to see Anderson vs Shogun. I think Shogun takes that one too. But I don't know if we will ever see that one.

GSP vs Anderson does not excite me. It will probably be a bore fest. GSP's last fight proved he just wants to play it safe. I don't care if I ever see him or Koscheck fight again.

Ya Anderson vs shogun has the potential to be very exiting. Shogun is a more sloppy fighter then Anderson, well if you don't judge him by his last fight. And anderson is a more picky with his shots, but the important thing it sounds like and exiting matchmaking between those two, and it cold go either way. But shogun has proven with his win over machida that he can learn, and learn fast to adapt to styles. Because in that fight shogun shut machida down basically, so he should be able to do the same thing to anderson. But this is mma and you never really know what will happen, plus there old team mates, and even though that should not be a problem. I think they will both look for other fights if they can, before fighting each-other.

And what you said about gsp is right on, it's one of the less attractive things about this sport. The controlling wrestling, superiority part, you know lay and pray. But even that I don't think gsp has got to that point, I really cant fault the guy for doing what it takes to win. If anything its the rules that are the problem, there not going to install vale tudo rules, soccer kicks and face stomps to downed opponents. But I think they should let knees to the head of downed opponents, just so it becomes less of a wresting match. Because a lot of that lay and pray and wrestling, is a direct result of not being able but to use your knees or feet on the guy. Imagine if they let in soccer kicks, to downed opponents or opponents who are trying to take you down. It will be more bloody, but it would stop a lot of wrestlers from attempting sloppy take downs, were they grab your toe and pull you down....because they would always have to be worrying about the shin in the face every time they think of shooting in.

All in all I think the ref's should be a little more critical of to much looking up and not doing much but fighting for position. Basically they should stand them up or break them up, faster if it looks like its going no were.

Hey fans, just wanted to comment on a good fight, Nick Diaz vs Cyborg last night. Diaz imo is one of the best all around fighters ever. His strange style and long reach, coupled with his tough chin and much experience, make him a force to reckon with. I hope to see him back at UFC one day. Man Cyborg destroys Nick's leg, but Diaz just eats it up!

Some good action coming up over the next few weeks, and I will return for comments. Looking forward to the SF heavyweight tournament, go Fedor!

Ya watched those fights on showtime last night, cyborg did a pretty good job, and he could of won if he conserved his energy and clinched with nick when in trouble, so as to avoid those pot shot jabs that nick does all the time, even boxers clinch and tie the other boxer up in those situation, and definitely don't go to the ground with the guy, what was he thinking.

All in all it was a good fight, I thought it would be a easier fight for nick, since cyborg is a tough guy but pretty sloppy in his shots, if he tried to go punch for punch with nick, he would of picked him apart like he does with all his opponents.

And yes I'm looking forward to the heavy weight tournament, I missed the elimination tournaments they used to have in the past, 8 go in, one comes out, so this will have to do. And yes it's hard to bet against Fedor, he should be focused and ready for action, now that he lost to Werdum in the manner that he lost. It's got all the makings of a great fight show.

Hey galadof, yea man when they went to the ground I knew it was over. If Cyborg had decent conditioning it could have made a difference. Man you know Diaz's leg is black and sore after that onslaught! I do think it was one of Nick's toughest fights in a while, but it only shows he is still in the game!
Thanks for chiming in and we shall chat later as this MMA stuff heats up!

ETA: Do ya think the cyborg house ever has any domestic violence issues? Let's hope not, that would be a spectacle for sure, and the female cyborg is not someone I'd wanna piss off!

Oh yes thats for sure, she is quite capable of knocking him out cold, if there was any "domestic" dispute. Now that is a woman who can fight. I heard her say in a vid somewhere that she only trains against men now, because women just don't cut it for her no more, and she can't progress any farther training with the female fighters.

And yes other then the heavy weight tournament in a couple of weeks, there is that silva vs belfort ufc fight card coming up. So there are some fights I'm interested in watching, and have a possibility of being, some really good match ups in the coming weeks.

Hey hey fight fans, today's a good day! Ufc 126, Vitor vs Silva, and man what a stacked card too!
Vitor vs Anderson
Griffin vs Franklin
Jones vs Bader
Torres vs Banuelos
Looks like there may be some other good match ups too but these are the money makers.

Vitor vs Silva - This could be an explosive fight once they get beyond the feeling out process, and I am leaning towards Vitor on this, with his juggernaut fists and superb athleticism. I feel that he is in the best shape and head space he has ever been. Anderson? He always could win and surprise too, and is just as athletic and perhaps even more skilled or well rounded as a fighter. They both have good chins, so they should be able to endure a punch or two, but of course if Vitor delivers those 20 punches per 5 seconds, it could be a different story. I think Silva has an advantage on the ground, but me thinks this one will remain standing, for the most part.
I'm calling KO in 2nd round by Vitor

Jones vs Bader - I am really looking forward to this one too, Jones is so skilled and unorthodox, and young too, that I think he will become one of the great ones! His spinning elbow is friggin awesome! Bader is a B Ass too though, but he better take Jones to the ground for any hope of winning, but Jones is has excellent take-down defense too.
I'm calling Jones in a 2nd round KO

Griffin vs Franklin - Well, not super excited but feel that these 2 can always put on a good show. I'm indifferent to who wins, but I would call Franklin by submission in the 3rd.

Torres vs Banuelos - I am really glad the UFC brought the feather weights onboard. We should see some good action from this division, not only because of their weight but because of the competition too!
Torres to me is a perfect fighter. Even though he has lost a few, he seems to be a complete master of his craft and I hope he get's the win.
I'm calling Torres by submission in the 2nd.

I have to watch the fight on a free stream so I will not comment until after I see it, which will be late tonight.

Yep stacked card!

I got Vitor 2nd round

Bones Jones 1st round devastation

Torres easy 1st round KO

Franklin by KO

Kid Yamamoto v Johnson should be an interesting fight. I believe it is going to be on UFC facebook.

Cowboy Cerrone v Paul Kelly should be a good fight also on Spike.

Should be a fun one. Vitor looks to have gotten into AS head, never seen AS so animated and angry at a weigh in. While Vitor was as cool as a spring breeze.

Cant afford to spend my pennies on things like that anymore, especially since no one here watches mma but me, but the preliminaries are starting on spike TV, so ill put up my predictions on the fights that should be intresting before I go check out the preliminaries.

Vitor vs Anderson: Anderson by KO in second round.

Griffin vs Franklin: This is a tough one it could go either way, just depends on who make the most mistakes. But I'll go with griffin, just because I think his size should give him an advantage if he utilizes it and doesn't go forward like in a brawl which he usually does, the dude is over 240 pounds and cuts to 205, so he should be about 215 come fight time. Griffin takes it by split decision.

Jones vs Bader: This fight should either be a barn burner, a knock down brawl, and has the potential to be fight of the night, or a quick KO type of thing, but Johnny "bones" has the advantage in my opinion, and if he keeps bader off him and out of the ground, and a wrestling match, then he should KO him in the third round.

Man did you guys see the weigh ins? Check out Silva and Vitor, crazy!
Look at Dana's face too, he looks genuinely concerned, like "oh shiat!"
Silva must be using some psychowarfare. I was wondering if the white mask could be some Brazilian curse or something. i don't know but I hope he didn't get inside Vitor's head too bad. it looks like he did a little.
Makes me just that much more excited about watching the dynamite explode!

Well some good fights, all my 3 picks won for there fight just not in the exactly the way I assumed.

Silva KO'd Vitor in the first with a strait kick, right to the chin. Which was a smooth move, and he even tried to annoy vitor with his antics, that he does in some fights to get guys to not think clearly, but over all it was a good fight. But please for the love of god whats with Steven Seagal in his corner I mean I have nothing against the guy but wtf is that all about. Hopefully he is not listening to Steven Seagal and is trying to take some acting lessons or something, because the last time I saw seagal in his corner it was in that Chael Sonnen fight, in which he must of took some advice from Seagal because he looked like he forgot how to punch in that fight.

Johnny "bones" Jones, total domination on his part, and he even took bader to the ground. Which is what bader should of done to stay competitive in that fight, that or just swung for the fences, and turn it into a brawl. And now "bones" he gets to fight shogun for the title. Which is gonna be an awesome fight. And even though johnny is good I got to go with shogun on that match up, but we will see.

And forest won, mostly because of his size advantage, that he utilized. To push franklin around and keep franklin tired and guessing what he will do next strike or just grapple with him. I thought franklin would be more aggressive then that, and if he got close to forest and fought it out there he would of had a chance to catch forest in a brawl exchange and would of won. But anyways was a good fight also, and a pretty good card.

I agree all the fights were pretty good and engaging, ....

However I do have one thing which bothers me, .... I know MMA is a sport, and it is a fighters job to Win, .... at the same time I'm getting tired of these fighters being overly cautious and subdued, ....

In competition, .. a fighters job is not only to win, ... but to express himself freely and to his fullest capabilties, ... in MMA we are losing the ART .... in martial arts.

Some of the best fighters out right now are the most creative and unique, .... Anderson Silva and now Jon Jones. ..... now that would be a fight.

Well it was good to Anderson in top forum, and I am again reminded about just how good he is. A front kick KO, WOW! After watching the replay, you can see how much Vitor is sticking his chin out way out. I was glad to se Vitor get 1 hit at least, but man you can not let Silva get settled and in a rhythm. What is left for Silva? Gsp and Jones I guess, and those would be good fights, but I'd still bet on Silva. I'd really like to see last nights AS against Sonnen too!
Jones is going to be a dominant fighter too! 84.5" reach
And the most devastating elbows in the game. He is so young also. He made Bader look amateurish.
I was surprised at Johnson's speed over Yamamoto, impressive!
Bueno, the guy who fought Torres, doesn't belong in ufc, imo. I bet Dana is regretting posting that fight on FB.
@ Hawkiye - good picks, thanks for chiming in
@ galaldof - I guess Segal is more martial artist than actor. I know he has skills, but I'm not too sure how much Aikido can be used in MMA, since there are no joint locks allowed. Perhaps some of the footwork could be used.
Yes, Shogun/Jones will be a good one I think. You are right too that Forest's size gave him a little advantage in the ground n pound. I recently saw somw movie and Forest had a small part as a mafia thug, BUT, they overdubbed someone else's voice for his parts, and it was hilarious watching someone else's voice come out of his mouth!
Guess the director did not like Forest's twang.
Thanks for the comments...
@ Intastella - Hey man, I hear ya on the over caution bit. That's another thing I liked about Pride, no fighting and they start taking your money away! I can understand a first round "feeling out " process, but after that, let's get it on guys!! Jones vs Silva, Bring it!!!!!

Well I just looked at the future ufc cards this year and I am not very excited. They need to start bringing in more talent. But I am looking forward to the SF heavy weight tournament, go FEDOR!!

Peace guys,
spec

That was a one in a million shot with that front kick. Anderson throws it on occasion he hit Henderson with it. However I have never seen a front kick knock someone out. That is the one in a million part, that it hit Vitor right on the button. To bad, Vitor was doing well and landed a couple shots before that.

Seagal is a fraud Anderson is just trying to get in the movies. That kick is a standard TKD kick also in dozens of martial arts styles. Anderson is a TKD black belt also I believe or some style of karate. The Idea that Segal helped him perfect it is absurd and makes me loose respect for Anderson for pandering to this guy.

Jones is a beast he made Bader look like a little girl. I personally think the shogun fight is too soon for him but we will see. I say Shogun chops him down with leg kicks takes away his explosiveness and beats him up. Although Jones ability to take credentialed wrestlers down at will like Bader is other wordly so he may get Shogun on his back, however Shogun will be much more dangerous off his back as a BJJ black belt and I doubt Jones can submit him, also Jones will need to worry about being submitted by Shogun unlike with Bader. We'll see though this kid is great and never ceases to amaze.

Glad Torres won however he still do not look himself. Forrest had a good game plan and pulled it out.

Wow, what can I say, my man Vitor got his face kicked in. Anderson Silva proved just how good he is! Although Vitor was doing pretty good up until that point.
I was really impressed by Jon Jones too, and I think his title fight with Shogun is gonna be a good one.

Peace 2 all

I agree my friend.

I actually have UFC 1 on VHS, recorded from the live event as a kid. Been a fan since day one and I keep getting disappointed with the PPV's

I agree...the prelims are usually more exciting than the PPV fights.

Strikeforce is also a lot more entertaining lately than UFC PPV fights.
