I've long since heard enough platitudes regarding BP, their obligations, and the total lack of leadership we are seeing from our reps. The attitude is *no more gushing, no more ROVs*. Nothing to see here folks, move on. Keep in mind 'they' expect, & are counting on, us forgetting all about this. Lets disappoint them, shall we?

The Gulf has not been made right. Maybe 5 decades from now, some things will have returned to normal. I won't be alive 50 yrs from now.

Last week I heard the mariner reporting on the Gulf to C2CAM. I've sent an email asking for the date and a brief summary of that report. But do not have the info at hand at this moment. Still, I think it's note worthy. According to that report the gov't has ordered all non-producing wells in the Gulf be plugged. There are approx. 27,000 wells in the GOM. Apparently a drilling site is leased much as it is on land. The operating company has one year after the end of that contract to close it out. Perhaps they should be required to shut them down by the day the contract ends. What happens to us if we are in a contract when that contract has run it's course?

I'm wondering why this mandate? To stop some of the leaks, leaving only that naturally occuring leaking from the seabed? This makes me think there is still so much leaking the only way to keep it from the public is to stop what they do have some control over. Maybe to clean house? An attempt to make it look like something is being done? Or maybe some weird combination of all those possibilities?

Like many here I suspect BP found more then they bargained for at that site. BP has already said they 'might' drill back into that monster. Can we trust them to do that without causing more chaos? I've already made my feelings about that known.

I'm certainly no expert but I don't think it's common for the GOM region to make sounds like explosions. I am unaware of any natural causes for anything showing red down there.

No one would be more happy then I for this whole mess being fully resolved. Not holding my breath on that one.

You aren't the only one confused. The "successful" kill has been reported more times then I can count. This one makes me think some one is saying 'back away slowly & quietly' as if the insanity is barely being held at bay.

but for the third time here in holland they said on the news the well is cpped
the first time was a mont ago
the second time three days ago
and again yesterday

so its closed now ?
excuse me for being confused

They say it is dead....however, when you watch the feeds it tells a different story. Today I saw they had the instrument that they used to measure the lean on the old BOP....using it on the NEW BOP......the little bead should be in the center, but it was not....it was to the side.....does that mean this one is leaning now? I have a pic and I'll post it as soon as I have time to resize it. So the answer is.....we don't know.....most of us think they are lying or that the well they are showing is not even the actual well, but a different one. Hope I didn't confuse you LOL!

I've not seen one word about the old BOP since the feds took custody. They are saying it was taken to NASA because it has facilities big enough to hold the BOP. There are lots of places as big that could be used, but OK. I suppose we might not hear anything if there is nothing to report yet. Or maybe they are just hoping we will all move on to another point of interest. Eventually there will be a little news blurp, as we used to say, on page 13A of the local newspaper.

A couple of days ago I posted a comment regarding the person who is overseeing the BP claims, but couldn't remember his name. I posted Ken Stein..but his name is Ken Feinburg. Another thread here on ATS under the Deepwater threads has provided the name, and lots of stuff I wish I had not remembered. The title is listed below. It's another thread we need to keep active.

Ken Feinburg and his Gulf Coast Claims Facility, Promises and Lies from the Disaster Czar

They say it is a dead well now,but which one are they actually talking about A or B? Now that is the question. If you remember they did drill 2 wells and one was supposed to be abandon yet for some reason I just don't buy into that.I cannot say they have it under control which they may have, but seriously I doubt it. There are still to many questions that need to be answered here, but I wouldn't count on getting any answers from BP or this administration. So it is really frustrating when you can see there is still a problem yet everybody denies there being a problem.

Was anyone watching DD2 @ 2:30am CST this morning? The feed was showing the wellhead. The ROV (#1) was cleaning out a pipe on the wellhead when things got crazy. It was one of the turbulent scenes that Kat has been describing. I hope pictures or videos turn up somewhere. Oh yeah after the incident both ROVs on DD2 went out for a couple of hours.

no....I haven't seen oil gushing....but I just took a pic of the well head and it looks like there is oil around it....or it could be the crevice. I'll post it and you can see for yourself and what it look slike to you ok?

Here is a shot I got yesterday of the well head....notice the cracks at the base and the deep crevice to the left. This is the one I and several other people watched open up live on the feeds. Be sure to check the next picture to see how it looks today...

Here is the well as of 6:00 this evening....it looks lopsided (there is a gauge to the right to measure lean....the bead should be in the center....it is all the way to the side....and a lot of people think that black stuff is oil all around the base. Since freebirdgirl says she saw something happen around the well head, I am really starting to wonder....here's the pic

What exactly happened?I am trying to find a video or pic.....but the pic I just posted shows the well looking kind of funky....did anything come out of the well itself? Or was it like something exploding? Or just things flying around violently?

I agree 100%....it's like we are looking at something and they are telling us we aren't seeing what we CLEARLY see.....even IF that well is done....what about the explosions or what ever they are....thank God someone else has finally seen what I have been talking about! (freebirdgirl)......I felt like no one believed me LOL!

I am SO glad I got that shot of the well just now because by the time I posted that pic, they shut the feed off...and they have not shown a shot of the entire BOP at all...wonder why? I am really starting to wonder if they are having problems with the "dead" well....why not show it in all it's glory?

BP says they are showing only "limited feeds" from now on.....most of the time it has been 2 or 3.....I think they will all be gone very soon.....they (BP) are about to "abandon the site" (thier words)

Lots of "smoke" and things flying around violently. Especially ROV 1.

aGreed.

If someone doesnt show the the finished work, how can anyone expect to believe its done?

The media should be asking A LOT more questions than they are.

Surly they cant have taken it to the vehicle assembly building at KSC, Discovery just got rolled from there this morning
I've actually seen them roll space shuttles from just 20 feet away on a tourist bus
theres no way a 500 ton BOP can go unnoticed through there.
unless they shipped it and keep it hidden on launchpad then load it in discoverys cargo bay.

"Houston we just opened the cargo bay and theres a wierd giant yellow rust box inside"
