BP are releasing their report on the deepwater horizon in 1 hour.

All thats known so far is theyre expected to blame thermselves and other other companies, is a couple of hundred pages long, compiled by more than 70 people and is expected to be very technical so we should all learn a fair amount.

Ill take it with a pinch of salt myself.

EDIT - its just been published, heres the link

Thanks Niblo

Just started reading the press report here but the needle broke on my BS-o-meter.

'...decisions made by “multiple companies and work teams” contributed to the accident which it says arose from “a complex and interlinked series of mechanical failures, human judgments, engineering design, operational implementation and team interfaces".'

wow really only 3 feeds? This is just ridiculous.

I know. Ive not had a chance to download the full report yet, Ive only just had the executive summary and straight away its exactly what was expected - trying to put blame elsewhere.

I even heard someone (apparently not involved with BP) say on the BBC news earlier that the whole thing cant even be classed as a catastrophe! Then a few sentences later BBCs correspondent quotes Obama calling it the worst environmental catastrophie in the history of the states. I mean come on....

They will all be gone soon because as far as BP is concerned, it's all over and things are fine....

Nice shots from last night! Is that ALL we have?
Makes me very suspicious...must be having problems or they would
show it just to shut people up (maybe?)

There is very little interest in this now.....even from an ATS standpoint......

Everyone is turning the page as many continue to become ill........

We will have breaking news "hopefully" if we can get all of our ducks in a row......

for everyone who monitored the truth with the BOP

Well I've got 3 feeds to look at now, WOW! The real catastrophy will be the long term health problems that will arise and already are as a result of the large amounts of Benzine, Corexant, Natural Gas that has saturated in the GOM and will leech into all the Gulf Coast water tables. It will be in the food supply and probably already has contaminated a large part of the Gulf seafood.

I have a feeling that birth defects, cancers and other diseases will skyrocket in the years to come. Bear in mind that most of the Valdez cleanup workers are dead or dying and they only used a fraction of the dispersent that BP used in the GOM. This is sad.

There's still a considerable risk that the relief wells could do even more damage, they stopped 1 a few weeks ago because of a "Cave-in" on the bit but you didn't hear much about that after it initially broke. There are still "Eruptions" on the few feeds you do get to see.

This is far from over IMO, but the media is more focused on the Mid-term elections now so anything to do with that will dominate the airwaves. BP as is often the case will get off SCOTT-FREE because big oil is never really held accountable for the damage they do.

Im no sure about the contents of that Europe blog. I can see what he means but I dont see any ice lining up on the altlantic side of my country, in fact the weathers been pretty much normal. Its when he claims it could cause the next ice age and it cold happen very quickly like in the film the day after tomorrow. He seems more interested in scaring the # out of people than warning or informing.

DD2 is doing a 'seafloor biological survey' it was looking at a pretty weird bubbly bit on the floor (not rising bubbles but like the bubbles you get in wallpaper that hasnt been pasted properly) but after zooming in the feed cut off. Naturally.

This was from Thad Allen's briefing this morning...

DATE: September 8, 2010 3:39:11 PM CDT
Transcript – Press Briefing by National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen

Snippets
[The early window is around the 18th of September to start the two-phase process. The later window starts on the 28th of September, and the difference in those two timelines is the amount of time they want to allow for diagnostics and fishing in the well.]

[Development Driller II has landed the BOP, as you know, over the weekend. They changed out the riser that was used to install it. They have a new riser latched on, and they are displacing the seawater in that riser with drilling mud at this point.]

[the DDII was drilling the second relief well. They came off of that wellhead and took the Blow Out Preventer, and that is the Blow Out Preventer that is now on the well.]

[So they can go down through the well and perforate the casing above the cement and actually cement in the annulus from the top, because they're already there and available to do it. And then shortly thereafter, we will finish the relief well from the bottom with Development Driller III, which was always drilling the first relief well, and they'll do it on the bottom. ]

I been mostly lurking. I peeked at the report and yeah you do need a BS detector. The first paragraph was enough for me. I did not read it all.
