I agree with much of what you say here, but there is a problem. How are Israelis supposed to evolve in a land that refuses to grow out of religious fundamentalism? The tit-for-tat destruction of Israeli and Palestinian life is a product of a land that has been raped by Crusaders, blood-stained Sharia Law, and Zionist vigilantism. The funnel that is the "Holy Land" is blood-gorged, and all that anyone can ever seem to do to try and right the problem is to pour more blood into it.

In my eyes, genocide is unacceptable regardless of who is committing it OR WHEN they are committing it.
As for me, I'll try not to put words in anyone else's mouth.

I find that rude and highly illogical.

Let me humbly reply with "thank you". I would never, ever seek to force my views down someone's throat; only to help myself see the light at the end of the tunnel and hope my thoughts and the thoughts of others can spurn us as one across the divide.

I fail to see how history is disconnected from present events and ideals. Maybe you could enlighten me?

The topic of this thread isn't about history.
Enlightened yet?

I feel very sorry for you. History has e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g to do with what is taking shape in the Middle East currently. I would be shocked to find many people that would agree with your assertion.

No, the westward expansion of the US has nothing to do with the Israelis boarding an Irish aid ship.

This situation, THIS THREAD, isn't about what the Israelis and Palestinians can do to better their situation... this is about Israel thumbing its nose to the world to stop aid from reaching people who need it.

This is definitely a problematic situation. The issue in my mind is that Israel has all of the power in this situation and thus much of the onus to improve it. I am by no means saying it's easy to do, I'm simply saying that Palestinians confined to ghettos have little agency. They also have little left to lose.

But the attitudes, or lack there of, in relation to global events of a similar magnitude to the ones in Palestine, are relevant. If you prefer to have a one-dimensional conversation that produces nothing, I recommend you open up a word processing program of your choosing and start a diary.

Please, show me, or have a mod show me since I seem to have upset you so much, where or how I have derailed the thread. You seem to be so concerned with someone thinking outside the box that you have done an adequate job of derailing things yourself.

And you presume to know what people's attitudes towards these things are. Fact is, this thread isn't about those other events. Should people walk in and qualify every statement... Perhaps the next time the Israelis bulldoze a water well we should qualify ourselves that we also thought that what Custer tried to do to the Sioux indians was a foolish battle tactic and he got what he deserved.

You are now in control of where this thread goes. You are obviously infuriated with what I wrote, and it is causing you to go into an obsessive rant. I am sorry that your close-mindedness is hampering you from coming close to understanding what I wrote in the post that obviously has you in such a whirlwind.

What should I talk about, sir? The size and propulsion power of the engine the ship in question produces?

So now not content with attacking a ship on the high seas and murdering at least nine of its passengers - in cold blood - because that is what shooting a lad 5 times point blank is - we have the illegal kidnap of a foreign vessel - towed into Israel clearly against the wishes of both crew and passengers.
That is indisputible kidnap and piracy.
The blockade is illegal.
All done against international law and the demands of the UN and international community sans the most violent, decadent and belligerant rogue state on the planet - the US bloody A. (Bloody as in blood)
These military terrorists and their masters must be brought to international justice.
I trust that every Israeli soldier is aware that under the Nuremburg law they cannot claim the excuse of being commanded.
The Israelis are now beyond being even regarded as human.

Just fight back in every way you can.
Remember 729 means it is an Israel product.
Do NOT buy - boycott.
Remember the rhyme.
729 and you have to decline.
Do not shop at shops that send profits back to Israel, do not use businesses ditto.
If you live in Britain do NOT shop at Tesco or M&S.
Tesco in particular is Israeli owned and the profits mostly go back.
Shop at Morrisons or Waitrose, British owned.
Check your fruit and veg or flowers in particular and if Israeli hand them back with suitable comments about the shop selling the produce of states who use state sanctioned murder, torture, imprisonment, kidnapping etc etc.
Lets throw our own blockade around this savage, barbaric and brutal state.
See how they like being starved in their pocket book.

That would not help in the slightest.

Whether you like it or not Israel simply does some accounting and then forwards the bill to the US - Congress agrees, and taxpayers foot the bill.

Furthermore, Governments don't operate on grudges. Anyone trying to convince you of such doesn't really know what they're on about.

Governments operate on dollars and sense. Geographical strategy and money. To say that this is happening because X amount of years ago the other did this simply isn't true. This is happening because Israel wants control of the entire West Bank... period.

Although not compulsory, I would recommend anyone that chooses to post on this complex subject with great historical significance, to start by reading these five links;

en.wikipedia.org...

en.wikipedia.org...

en.wikipedia.org...

en.wikipedia.org...

en.wikipedia.org...

If you do not feel 'wikipedia' is impartial, then feel free to cross reference the citations.

Thank you.

You're right, Nazi Germany tried to exterminate Jews in Europe for dollars and "sense". Hitler was not imposing genocide out of a personal grudge against Jews; it was mainly for monetary profit.

I'm sure Arafat and Netanyahu also didn't/don't harbor animosity against their perceived aggressor. Operation Spring of Youth? Yeah, the Jews went after the Black September terrorists for years on a murder-revenge mission for money and geographical strategy. Thank you for pointing out so clearly why my attribution of historical and global ignorance is one of the main attributions in people's current opinions of the emergency in Palestine.

The entirety of WW2 was fought over money.... the fact that there was none.

Black September wasn't an overt act. Assassinations happen, I won't argue that.
But once again, OFF TOPIC.

You do realize that what Hitler did, demonizing the Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, etc., brought the German people together to revitalize the economy and then take over other countries to acquire more land and wealth.

This entire post is also completely off topic, as it does not represent the subject of the thread, the MV Rachel Corrie, at all. Thank you.

I absolutely do. To say though that Hitler did not incinerate Jews, old and young, for ulterior motives outside of the economy and popular sentiment however, would be untrue.

They are not. That was never the plan. You are never going to get this if you still think in black & white terms. Let me ask you a question: would it all make sense to you if 'Chosenite-ism' and 'radical Islam' were in fact two heads of the same snake?
Or to reformulate, when you see a picture of masked Hamas terrorists shooting into the air and chanting against Israel in the western media, would you not find it surprising if one of these same 'terrorists' had a star of Davis tattooed on their chest?

Ask the correct questions, you will find the correct answers....
