What proof do I need? They are cheering that their military stopped what? An Aid boat coming to OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN LAND? If the IDF was smart they would have just escorted the ship to Gaza's port and searched them on land. You can spin-doctor it up all you want but Israel broke International Law by committing the equivalent of Piracy in International Waters. It won't take long, this will be a HOT issue for the UN. I'm curious to see what the next few weeks bring.

haha, the so called highly trained Israelis had to shoot to kill, it was the only way they could defend themselves against the civilians who were beating them with sticks and white flags. Yeah, 6 rouge ships intending to ignore and humiliate the naval forces by zooming through them, have been stopped. That's what they are "celebrating" (now that I think of it I wouldn't call it a celebration more like a happy demonstration but whatever you call it).

If you were smart you wouldn't have typed your second and third lines. The IDF searching the ships' cargo on land? INSIDE GAZA? Are you THAT stupid? They would get shelled and attacked the instant they reach Gaza's shores, IDF troops that is.

The only sensible place to dock at is Ashdod's port, that is where every UN ship docks to transfer aid to Gaza, why would the flotilla ships behave differently? They were asked to dock there in order to check the cargo of the ship for weapons and items that shouldn't get to Gaza, and refused. Pfft, some humanitarian aid ship! Thinking they are higher ranked than UN's vessels.

You can shout out how Israel commited an international law, but such laws have always been broken when ships were known to reach places they were forbidden to enter.

Read about the 1967 6-day war, then come back when you understand that Israel has never backed away from a fight. In 6 days, Israel brought Egypt, Syria, and Jordan and their military forces to their knees, and virtually destroyed their air forces. Although Israel stopped its advance, it could have easily taken over every Arab country in the Middle East.

I read in the past a few other aid boats made it past the blockade - others were turned back. So why did it escalate to this now?

I thought I read somewhere Israel stated they allow humanitarian aid through the blockade. Why don't they just search all the ships entering instead of turning all of them back. Could someone also explain if total blockades are against international law?
