I wonder who had to die in Connecticut so Obama could get his SSN?

Wasn't the point of getting a Social Security card and paying Social Security taxes all these years was so we could have retirement benefits? This is why we have "one" SS#.

Every time I've married, divorced or whatever... my name changed, job changed, state changed, it didn't matter because they could track me to "one" Social Security number.

Well, we have known for at least 10 years, there isn't any future retirement benefits. So it really doesn't matter if Obama has one or fifty Social Security numbers, as long as he paid the SS taxes for each job he had.

So why would anyone trick the Social Security office and apply for so many? Obviously he didn't want to be tracked.

Or maybe when he joined college.... for initiation.... the freshmen had to get as many SS#'s as they could to be accepted!

I really like the CIA theory though.

The first 3 digits of the social security number are determined by what state/region you received your SSN in. Used to be a great parlor trick when I was preparing taxes - I could tell out of staters what region they came from based on those 3 digits. It's 0s and 1s on the east coast, 3XX in Michigan, 5s and 6s in Ca. I used to have a map of the others.

Christian Science Monitor (neutral enough source?) refers to SSN# claim as "internet rumor."

The birthers are instead turning to another claim against Obama’s legitimacy: an Internet rumor that questions the Obama social security number.

I was born in Connecticut. My SSN# starts with 047. I was born in 1984

If this is SUCH big news, why is it then featured mainly on WND, a site that HATES Obama? If this was huge, why isn't Fox News running it, who many on this website claim is not apart of the MSM?

Ok a conservative here battling stupidty across the birther board. All children don't recieve or haven't always recieved a SSN at birth. Obama recieved his at 17. Why at 17? Needed it for college. Was living in Indonesia at the time. Probably took a college visit, inquired which ssn office gave the fastest issuance and sent it to the connn office. You don't have to apply for a ssn in the state of your birth, you can send it to any one of the issuance offices.

The PI is a PI because he isn't smart enough to work for the FBI.

I think that your expert investigators should check again. Connecticut has zip codes beginning with 06xxx. The only 04xxx zip codes are in Maine according to the USPS. I suspect that, in addition to getting the state wrong by a considerable margin, I would question whether they actually know Obama's SSN.

Before 1973 (when Obama turned 12), SSNs started with a three-digit number that indicated the state it was issued in which, as the official Social Security website points out, doesn't have to be your state of residence. Beginning in 1973, all SSNs were issued from the Social Security Baltimore office, and consisted of the first three digits of the zip code on the mailing address on the application - and still don't have to be the state of residence.

Before the changeover, when Obama was a pre-teen, the numbers for cards issued by regional offices in Connecticut were 040 to 049. It is highly unlikely that Obama applied to a Connecticut office or any other office when he was 11 or younger. Before Obama, who was born in August of 1961, turned 12, the numbers for Connecticut became zip code numbers - which begin with 06. The zip codes starting with 04 are, as I pointed out above, in Maine.

So, it looks like the entire story is nothing but a blivet (100 pounds of steaming cow manure stuffed into a 50 pound sack).

First I want to say that I basically agree with you on this. But that said,:

My SSN, which I got in the mid-1970's while living in Connecticut, begins with 04. Despite the fact that the zip code I was living in began 06.

I think the way it works is that the first three digits of the SSN were assigned to specific zip codes, but not identical to those zip codes.

Nuh, we will give you the benefit of the doubt. Unless you can produce video of your wife saying you are Kenyan and that Kenya is your home country. Also it would be more convincing if you changed your name a few times, didn't release your birth certificate AND suppressed documents showing that you received aid as a foreign student despite being born in the USA.

Do you find it strange that a virtual unknown 5 years ago was able to become the Commander in Chief of one of the most powerful armies on Earth? Where did he come from? Why is so little known about his history?
