here is an example of a country about 4 times older than the USA, give or take 50 years. Not to mention its the oldest republic still standing. It might be small, but its way older than the USA. It also has a seat in the UN. I should know, i am a citizen of this country.

The main reason people believe this idea is, like has been said, a complete lack of knowledge when it comes to Geography.

I must admit, although I didn't believe the theory, my geography is rather shabby and I am constantly suprised by where certain countries actually reside upon the world map

Although I think that Australia and New Zealand themselves have to shoulder some of the blame. Seeing as most people nowadays get their geography based upon what part of the world they are invading, I think both of these countries need to pull their fingers out and get involved in some 'world domination' plots.

Its decided... War!!!!!! Australia should pick a more equal rivalry though!.. I am thinking Aruba or Barbados... Just kidding guys.. I love Australia.. If I were to leave the US that is exactly where I would go.. The difference between myself and Mr. Perez, Garcia, Martinez, Hernandez, Ruiz, Lopez, Ramirez, Lopez, Espinosa, Espinoza, Gonzales, Gonzalez, is ... I would do it legally.. If I could not get it accomplished legally.. I would find a new place to relocate to... Not that I would want to, (because as stated ...Australia would be my first choice.) but I would not knowingly break the laws. Thats just how I was raised.

I'm an American too and it's obvious the masses of land are not the way they've always been. At one time all the lands were connected. Of course this was thousands of years ago. Nothing recently has happened. Some of the land is under the ocean now and that's why we find pyramids and other things in the ocean.

Try 'millions'....many millions.

More than eighty million years ago New Zealand was connected to Australia, then it had the good sense to leave (the opening of the Tasman Sea) before the snakes could take hold so now one can walk safely most places (though a good deal of Outdoor sense is still a must)
