Faith should never be derived from ANY book. It should be derived through experience.Period!

As usual English with the Thesaurus' interchangeability of words in circular reasoning~
don't confuse "faith" with Knowledge being 'Experience' (yada-yada)!

That's a given, Speaker - I'm referring to what the Bible instructs us to do.

Faith can only be experienced through "experience".

Not sure what your point is?

I find the notion of "faith" quite interesting, especially concerning religion. If, lets say a Christian, has faith in his religion and faith in his God, this person has a confident belief without proof or material evidence. Roughly around 2000 years ago, some people had faith in Jesus Christ, whilst others didn't. Those who had faith did not question him, they did not ask for proof.
Now I propose this question to those who rely solely on faith in their belief in God; if I was to claim to be the second coming of Jesus Christ himself, would your faith in your religion, your faith in God forbid you from questioning my claim to be your saviour. If you question my claim, does this mean you are denouncing your God, because your faith has been rattled and you do not believe me to be Jesus Christ, even though you don't know if I am, or am not he who I claim to be. When you ask for proof, or if you simply reply with, "I don't believe you", do you not therefore not believe in your religion or God, as you no longer have faith.
You may still have faith in God, but you do not have faith in me. But since I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God, (or so I claim) and your lack of faith has denounced me from your belief system, are you therefore denouncing God?

(BTW, I am not trying to belittle anyone's religion here, I am merely putting forth a question that I am interesting in hearing your answers to. )

Ah but see Jesus Christ this is where everyone screws up. You see Jesus, as I'm sure you do, your name means something and it is IN that, what the name JESUS means that one is saved. I'm going to name every child I have Jesus Christ:A, Jesus Christ:B and so on.

Understand what your name means which is a Verb and you will know what is really saving those peps following you otherwise....Sell me some oranges.

And every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess.

And given the shape of the world today, I'd say God is

going to be very, very busy that day.

I can't wait either - I'm sick of evil.

it would come down to knowing who was intentionally represented so many years ago, the matter of faith is within ones mind as they make it out to be due to observation from life, thus one image representing this figure in time would be true to many even if imaginary, we all view things from different viewpoints thus one mans faith is another mans insanity.

to answer you question simply, if you believed it.

You know I'm not one to recommend medication for mental disorders often but you should seek some professional help as soon as possible.

So your announcing your self as the Christ on a internet form? Who would of thought Jesus would announce his second coming on ATS, geez, ATS is in the the most honored position for Jesus himself announce his second coming on this board, of all places.

Personally, I find your post unbelievable to the 10th degree. Rather I would question what your real motive. Perhaps your moms basement is turning out to be a little lonely and your need of some attention?

I'm not Christian but I still find your post rather offensive especially given the timing of your post, so close to Easter Sunday.

If you are God, show me a sign, can you pay off my credit card debt, give next weeks winning lottery numbers, perhaps you can cure my friends cancer, I heard you are in the business of performing miracles and such.

What a bunch of rubbish.

I would say: "Okay another April Fools day joke."

Then you would perform a miracle if you cared to.

Depending on what the miracle did, I might be interested. Anything is possible I suppose.

No.. NO.. I completely and undefensively understand exactly what you are saying.. If in fact Jesus Christ did exists and he actually had something powerful to say wouldn't he have written something in his account of how each and every individual could have been saved but in fact he did not.. becuz any account of himself did not take place until after 50 years of his so called life and miracles that "took place" so how can any "christian" claim that a man that might have existed can save your life?

Interesting question.

I figure Jesus will know who has faith, and who doesn't, so there will be no need for people accepting him.

I disagree that Jesus is somehow not on earth.

The Bible is mis-interpreted by the popular Christian religion.

The Bible says, after Jesus was crucified, he returned in a different form. That is why Peter did not recognize him, when he returned to sup with Peter.

So, Jesus is always on earth. In fact, there have been 22 reincarnations of Jesus.

It a number that coincides with chromosomes.

As Jesus walks the earth, he looks for good souls. He travels the planet as a homeless man. And those that help the least of them, have helped Jesus.

The 23rd Jesus will bring war and destruction to the earth, and only the most faithful will inherit the leftovers, with a new understanding of our importance to the universe.

You obviously didn't read my original post did you? I am proposing a hypothetical situation where someone claims themselves to be Jesus, and how a person of faith can discern whether this claim is true or not. How exactly is that offensive? Didn't the bible say there will indeed be a second coming of Jesus?

You see, you might be Jesus. Therefore I will respond to you with due respect, until I decide you are trying to fool me.

This is the test of Jesus. How you treat your fellow man.

Jesus himself said, Love God, and treat your neighbor well.

The reason he said, we will have to go through him to get to heaven,
is because God put Jesus in the position of Judge.

Those who have put themselves in positions of Judging others, with only concerns of personal gains, will be Judged the harshest.

Ooooo...You are so clever.

The only comment I have for you is "sigh."

The claim makes the truth in your world.

You are a sad, sad individual.

I feel the question posed in the OP was a valid one. Yours however, is a classic example of what exasperates many agnostics/atheists (and I would imagine believers...).

You automatically go on the defensive with belittling comments without even bothering to read.

"You are a sad, sad individual."

Everyone is Jesus Christ online, if they want to be.

Everyone is powerful, rich and famous online too... I have seen a few who actually believe they are God himself.

The sad thing is, that when they are away from their digital world their pathetic lives and reality tend to make them even more delusional.

So, who are you today?

Well, actually the Bible forewarns of people claiming to be the Christ, and that false Messiahs would come claiming to be him. So in that sense, to reject somebody as savior after they have made the claim is not denouncing your faith, but actually testing and refining it.

Matthew 24:4-6 (New International Version)

4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

Faith is also not simply a matter of having it or not having it. There are also degrees of faith. Some are more convinced than others, but many would absolutely love to see some kind of sign to help encourage what they believe.

Back to the claiming to be Christ and its relation to faith. I think you would find that most Christians believe that when the Son of God returns, it will be unmistakable and there will be no doubt. He will not need to claim who He is, because we will know. The resounding of trumpets and bright glory like none other might be a good clue as well

Hope that helps a little. That's my take anyway.
