Hy,

I am from Romania, where we have only state medicine.
It is horrible, you have to bribe everything in a hospital to even survive your visit there. The system is collapsing.

What I don't understand is how can an American accept a mandatory TAX for something that should be optional?

You said that 47 milion americans don't have coverage and the cost will decrease over time.
That is bull#. The reason of high costs in your medicine is the CON law.
There is no competition between hospitals. How can a pill cost 20$? The work of the doctors is overcharged due to lack of competition.
How many of the 47 mil refused to have insurance because is to expensive?

You are becoming a Socialist state, where every body have to work for the good of all. That will only result in a tyranny, either of one man or of a group of individuals.

I hope you haven't lost your Republic completely, because if you do We are all doomed.

Maybe 'you guys' should have gotten pissed for all the things you mentioned above you said 'fine' to. If it takes this health care debacle to ruffle feathers enough to make you have enough, we're in a lot worse shape than we thought.

"Enough" was years ago.

None of those things you listed should have ever been fine. It was all crap. This health care issue is a pile of S*** on top of many piles of S***. Why you wouldn't be as incensed at those former things as much as you appear to be about this, makes me scratch my head.

No, we find Americans to be the most curious race on the planet.

Ready to rise to sudden fury and use extreme deadly force at the drop of a hat.

Yet in a total baleful blissful unaware stupor about how they are being constantly screwed and manipulated by TPTB.

So nothing at all will happen, right up to the day, the hour, and the minute, when IGNITION occurs.

Health care is way out of line. People should be able to pay out of pocket for health care. They should not have to pay a kings ransom in insurance payments their entire lives in order to afford health care. The current system has everyone over a barrel. Do doctors need to be payed hundreds of dollars an hour? I do not think so. The government should look into the price fixing that has taken place between doctors and insurance companies. If doctor A charges 300 dollars an hour, can you go to doctor B who only charges 90? No you cannot because they all pretty much charge the same. Price fixing in action.

Then there is the cost of equipment. You put the word "Medical" in front of anything and it is automatically much more expensive than it has to be. A case in point is "Medical" school. Another is the beds you sleep in while hospitalized. When my mom had a stroke, we had to buy a hospital bed with all the electronic motors and controls to make her comfortable and facilitate getting her in and out of her wheel chair. $3,000.00. Now when you go to a hospital and look at your bill you will find that the hospital charges $500.00 per night for you to sleep in their bed. How many nights does it take to pay for a $3000.00 dollar bed at $500.00 per night? ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER? It takes six nights and that bed is paid for in full. After six nights the rest is pure profit.

In the mid sixties, when I was in sixth grade, two friends and I built an X-ray machine and took pictures of road kill on Kodak Lithography film. One of my friends was a taxidermist and we also took pictures of his mounted specimens. We spent less than a hundred mid sixties dollars on our machine.

I recently heard a man talking about how he broke his arm and had to go to an ER for treatment. Five hours later, he owed the doctors and hospital $30,000 dollars. There is no excuse for these kinds of charges except GREED.

But now instead of the Government working to properly bring down the cost of health care so it will be affordable, they are making everyone pay more for it.

EVERYONE EXCEPT THE ILLEGAL ALIENS OF COURSE WHO WILL STILL RECEIVE FREE CARE SO THE DEMOCRATS CAN HAVE THEIR FRAUDULENT VOTES. THE IRS WILL NOT GO KNOCKING ON THEIR DOOR OR SEIZE THEIR ASSETS.

Slayer seems to still live with the idea that the average American works all day like a latterday Trojan ; he doesn't.

He's long since given up ploughing his own field. Instead, he now borrows money from the good farmers and pays them to plough their own fields that little bit harder, else he borrows money to fund his mob and simply takes over fields from those he doesn't like.

Now he's in a great huff because most of the good farmers have something he doesn't, a decent healthcare system. And instead of working harder to get what they've got, he's grumping and groaning as he struggles to keep up with the rest.

Hard work is what will rescue the USA, that combined with reduced spending at a personal and government level. And with that new reality should come the recognition that you're just one farmer, with one field, like all the rest.

You're nothing special, USA, not any more. This healthcare debate is simply a recognition that you can't keep up with the rest of the civilised world because of your greed, your selfishness and inability to recognise what the important issues are.

US investors are totally tapped out, broke. So the public need to be bled by force to keep the Wall Street scams going just a bit longer.

just a thought, but you think this could have anything to do with them trying to lift the ban on major campaign contributions so now since Big Gov is feeding a continuous flow of $ to Big Med Corp, they will in turn send the money back to Big Gov in order to keep the "right" people in power?

You are going to force some sort of half-assed Health Care reform that we have to pay for whether we like it or not whether we are sick or in need or not. Whether we can afford it or not... NOT FINE ANYMORE!

Slay, you seemed to hit on a sore spot, a good point! Why the HEY aren't we getting what we worked hard for? Screwed by the world and then by our legislators!

I could go on about GW Bush and how he did or didn't do us any favors but the bottom line is that we got Pelosi and Reid and Obama and what we wanted WASN'T progressive Socialism, but rather honest Conservatism.

Now we have Pelosi with an 11 percent favorable rating and Reid with an amazing 8% approval and Obama with a historically low level also. Obviously the American voter public didn't get what they wanted this last election, they got politicians willing to ram through their agenda no matter what. How did that happen!

This kind of disregard for voter sentiment is unprecedented and somewhat amazing! It will probably result in a Republican sweep in November much like '94's Contract with America. The result, probably a direct challenge to recent legislation and the Obama agenda.

The big question is how much government is appropriate? How do we get a Congress that listens to the will of the people?

That will be the defining political agenda into the next decade!

Our founding fathers would be so disappointed in the current state of our country that was founded as a REPUBLIC and inches ever so close to socialism.

Lol..how i wish you understood how wrong you are.
Still proud and willing to send your children to war..to "serve" as you call it..all of your efforts all of your sacrifice has ALLWAYS been based on the masters education and used as a tool for the corporations to PROFIT out of you!
It has been going on for many decades, but now you had enough..now you are still proud and would still "serve" and now you had enough.
MAAAN you have all reasons in the world, multiple reasons to have had enough long long time ago, to start you could demand that your masters send THEIR children to "serve".

You "angry warriors" are all pathetic, this bill is too much for you, but go killing and do what you are told to do is still ok and something to be proud of?! If you only also regret your history i would understand, if you showed remorse or asked for forgivness..if you realised how manufactured your ideals are, that the only product of you "serving" is the economic profit of your masters, no democracy, no freedom no saving the world, just imperialistic strategy from the same masters ..but NO! You go to war proud, you die and kill for their sake and find it reasonable that tax money founds it all.
I am not your enemie, you have your enemy in your white house as you ALLWAYS have. D or R same crap same master, this is a fact.

Yes it seems a lot has been done "unconstitutional" to get the bill passed, i am not arguing the bill, i just wish you would be just as mad for being their puppet for so long. You have many reasons to be mad, but this bill is the least important of them all.

I really have to fight with my inner wishes, on one side i wish USA came out of this in ashes, from there you could rise as new, on the other side i wish even more this situation does not escalate, cause your society would suffer so much its not worth it at least i cant "wish" that for anybody..it would hurt yes, but would it be unfair?

Oh - thats right - your all gun flint and warrison - man of war - how absolutely ridiculous.

I do hear, understand, and have sympathy for your stance on this post. I'm not American, but I'm in the military and I work with the USArmy.

What I hear from you, regarding this current situation, I have been hearing it from young american soldiers all over the place.

The feeling of being abandoned by your own government is a feeling that is becoming way too strong and common. Stronger and more common than what is supposed to be.

I'm not saying that you are one of them, because I don't know you, neither your stand on the last elections... But looking at this with european eyes, with all due respect to the american people:

Where the hell are the voters that elected Obama?

I'm starting to believe that there are more people against all this, than people that voted for Obama, which includes his voters and voters in other candidates.

I mean... I saw this coming. I knew from early campaign, that he was reinforcing troops in Afghanistan. I knew that he was going to change completely the HS... And so on...

...if he is such a monster, if he is destroying your own country, and all this discussions that you see here in ATS and all around the media... Why did people vote for him? Why were people emotional about Obama, carrying him on their shoulders and all the other manifestations of support and joy, hope and belief?

(Again, I'm not talking about you personally) People in the US are angry. But they are not only angry because of the changes that are being made. People are also angry because they are realizing that they voted without thinking, that they demonized other candidates that opposed Obama, and provably everyone (in silence) is realizing the terrible mistake that is electing someone because they appear on the surface to bring change.

Obama, who was supposed to be a symbol of hope, change, "yes we can" and all that crap... Is becoming the most outrageous "commercial" campaign ever.

Let's see, the Health Insurance, Drug, and Medical Device companies will be required to pay a combined $11 billion to the Government each year. Who will absorb these additional costs? WE THE PEOPLE!!!!

Companies will be required to maintain acceptable Health Insurance for ALL of their employees or pay a fine for each uncovered employee. Caterpiller, a major corporation, has already announced a cost increase of $100 million and will have to cut expenses...MEANING JOBS...to off-set this additional 1st year cost. Who will absorb these additional costs? WE THE PEOPLE!!!!!

Health Insurance, Drugs, and Medical Devices will be taxed. Who will absorb these additional costs? WE THE PEOPLE!!!!!

All of this, according to Obama and Pelosi is making healthcare more affordable.

The thing is, what are the downsides here. If the Government loses, they will end up with higher deficits for the Chinese to finance. If the Companies lose, they simply raise their prices. If we lose and can't pay our premium, we have everthing taken away and face fines and possible imprisonment.

Doesn't seem like an equitable arrangement to me

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I watched this while eating breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food. At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory. I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve bank.

On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to send via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school. After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

When questioning the american warmachinery it is "you dont understand the americans" lol. But we do o yes we do.

One thing is very clear; the forces wishing for war and chaos inside the US have plenty of human resourses to do "what they are told" or "to serve" their purpose. They are now sitting on their fat butts rubbing hands..and if you think they will come out to the streets with you hell no! Not when it gets uggly they will not. As usual.
Mybe it is as simple as this; the american soldier has been such a good obedient, such good at the art of murdering that there is no one else to kill but your own people, no more place to take your # but your own soil..you see, you have been doing this for generations, this is what you are good at.

Once again respect and love for all americans searching for peace and equality for all.

At least now you can guarantee if you ever became ill, you'd be looked after right????

Here's the thing . . . decisions have been made over the past decade or so to ensure that the middle class is in steep decline in terms of numbers in favor of a growing 'worker' class of people who are being artificially kept in poverty . . . in chains so they do not have the resources to raise up against those in positions of power continue to make decisions that serve to nothing more than keep those huddled masses . . . well . . . more huddled.

They've created a situation where the average person does not have any reasonable expectation outside of winning the lottery to be free of poverty's grip.

And then they pass a piece of legislation veiled as a way to help the struggling class they created, but in the end benefits only those who provide the services . . . who not so surprisingly already own the seats at the top of that food chain.

One need look no further than what this piece of legislation has done to the whole spectre of 'generic' replacement drugs . . . you know . . . the ones that us poor folk could actually afford . . .

source

What they've done is set up a system that REQUIRES us to sign up for insurance that will pay big bucks to DRUG COMPANIES who (now without competition) will sell their brand name cures to the hospitals at pretty much whatever they feel they can gouge from them . . . again all paid by whatever insurance we have that we were FORCED to purchase as, if we do not, we're threatened with sanctions by the very goverenment that forced us into it in the first place.

What a freakin' sham . . . anyone who thinks this is some altruistic goverenment-lead saving grace for the masses needs to give their head a bit of a shake as goverments pander to those with the depest pockets which AIN'T those they claim to be helping with this bill.

If you don't believe the 'sell your soul to the devil' or the 'who does this really benefit' notion, give Bart Stupak a call . . . he's aprime example of how cheap is the price of honor and nobility.

I LOVED your post. Where do I sign up to help "right the wrongs"?

Can you please tell me who you might consider voting for in 2012 for President.

Is there anyone in the running (or likely to be) who is not a CFR member/trilaterist/Illuminatist/Zionist/Marxist Socialist/Neocon?

Is 20-term TX Congressman Ron Paul fairly genuine (has many of the large issues right) but he's just not electable (too far right/Libertarian)?

Seriously, please tell me who you are considering. There is such a political vacuum out there. I feel like Romney is just more of the same.

"Insider" connections have told me that Republican TX Governor Rick Perry will win re-election in November and then begin campaigning for the Presidency with Palin as his running mate, possibly for the Tea Party (one or both of them). However, if Perry runs in 2012, it will be because the Bildeberg banksters have "tapped" him for the job. I have decided I don't like Perry for President anyway because he's pro-NAFTA and the NAFTA super highway. He would probably help usher in the North American Union in exchange for the Presidency.
