How ironic that your avatar is a snake perched on a staff.

Numbers 21: 7-9

7 And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. 8 And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole (staff). And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.

Our medical emblem is based on this passage. It is a sign of healing. How extremely ironic that you post is about the bad of Christianity yet you display a symbol of Biblical healing.

You do realize that everything you quoted is in the old testament, right? Do you realize that those of us who are "Christians" are no longer required to follow the Mosaic law, although the basic precepts are necessary to society, do not steal, kill, etc.? We are now under the "New covenant", given to us by Yeshua. It is simply, "Do unto others as you would have done to you" and "Love thy neighbor as thyself".

does this justify witch trials/hunts inquisitions what the church did to the knights templar(the church tied weights to their penis's and dropped them)? what about john wayne gacy he was a christian so was the btk killer and i think jeffery dahmer i'm not sure i think i may be a bit off subject.

A great many things actually. None of which you would care to hear. It's all well and good to crusade against a perceived evil but when you in the process lose the ability for objectivity your crusade it's self becomes evil......

I see. I'm sorry, I seem to have mistaken you for someone who was interested in having an actual mature discussion. Your intent obviously inclines in another direction. I apologize for the interruption.

I'll leave you to your nonsense and the unfortunate few who allow themselves to get caught up in it.

Yes, I agree. I don't want to be caught up in a useless argument. Obviously the intention here was not to learn the true nature of those who follow Yeshua, and His truth and beauty. The intent was obviously to make all who claim the word "christian" as their faith the scapegoat for evil, wicked men throughout history. There really is no point in continuing here, as no truth will be listened to. I have to say that for all those who feel that everyone that claims the name of Yeshua to be guilty of terrible crimes against humanity, I sincerely hope that one day you get to meet and truly know a real follower of Yahweh and Yeshua. Your life would forever be changed. Yahweh, I hope, will be merciful enough to see that you receive the truth.

Lol, TS got owned.

And how about this TS?
en.wikipedia.org...

or this:
www.christianitytoday.com...

Christians are STILL being tortured and killed even today. What the 'Christians' (in name only) did in the past is in direct conflict with the teachings of Christ. They were NOT TRUE followers of Christ.....(but you know that. You were just spewing your God hate)

Christians have been the most persecuted group in all of history.

really makes it sound like you are immature or intentionally trolling. Nobody justifies the act of murder the fact is bad people do bad things and the insane will always have a reason for doing what they do. If they were not using religion it would be money, fame or politically motivated.

I have a tiny little spin on this one...

I took this from the first page of discussion.... seems to be the original topic.
(from which no honest progress was made)

"The Inquisition was a campaign of torture, mutilation, mass murder and destruction of human life perpetrated by xtians....The church increased in power until it had total control over human life, both secular and religious....The Vatican wasn't satisfied with the progress made by regional leaders in rooting out heresy. Pope Innocent III commissioned his own inquisitors who answered directly to him. Their authority was made official in the papal bull of March 25th, 1199.7Innocent declared "anyone who attempted to construe a personal view of god which conflicted with the church dogma must be burned without pity."

Now assuming that Judaism and Christianity are ACTUALLY in touch with the divine, why don't we substitute 'the Church', 'the Vatican', and 'the Pope'.... with the name "God".

Then all of a not so far fetched sudden, we enter the area of 'spiritual warfare'.... dating back to early Judaism and manifesting itself in contemporary Islamic struggles and everything, in between.
The matter then comes to be whether this forum should be called "Exposing Opinionated Speculations on Christians" or "I am angry at the past because of my future".... which is just sorta whimpy.
I simply see the rise of the Christian God to power here, through the use of those who are willing or called to kill and die for him.
I guess we can see who actually wins within the modern realm of zealous warfare..

Let me put it this way. Do you fault modern southern caucasians for the inequities of slavery during the 19th century? Don't answer please I am not here to bait you, but, that is the equivilant of what you are doing here.

I came across this site and thought it'd be good to share since I haven't seen it on here (ATS). I'd love to hear thoughts from Christians, or about how they can justify this.

www.exposingchristianity.com...

The Inquisition was a campaign of torture, mutilation, mass murder and destruction of human life perpetrated by xtians. The church increased in power until it had total control over human life, both secular and religious. The Vatican wasn't satisfied with the progress made by regional leaders in rooting out heresy. Pope Innocent III commissioned his own inquisitors who answered directly to him. Their authority was made official in the papal bull of March 25th, 1199.7Innocent declared "anyone who attempted to construe a personal view of god which conflicted with the church dogma must be burned without pity."

One of the torture methods mentioned was "making the victim drink tons of water, while making them swallow pieces of knotted roped, and then yanking the rope out, thus disemboweling the victim"

Not bashing xtians or anything...
LOL, I think that title should be called "exposingCatholicism", based on what you chose to copy/paste, it deals with the Catholic church persecuting the Protestant Christians who refused to listen to what the Pope had to say.
