Gorilla seen in Nasa snap from Mars

It's a mere rock, trust me there are "Things" that are on Mars but we will never see one in a photo because they are underground, same as the moon.

Seven pages discussing a rock..............seriously. I mean some rocks are amazing, like the quartz rock caves someone posted or the giants causway in Ireland. This is a rock that looks vaugely like a gorilla when the light shines on it in a particular way.

A rock, seven pages of discussion, there are many more important threads.

Everybody knows that gorillas don't eat , drink or breathe !

BUT take a look at the bottom of the picture ....

There is obviously a giant , city sized , gorilla nest type structure

blocking the rover's path . ..... AWESOME find

There is actual photos of trees on mars and water, so it is possible. But I am still leaning towards a very deceiving rock formation. But could be wrong, No harm in being wrong every now and then, shows people you are human at least.

I can see a face clearly, so I see what the fuss is about. But you're dead right about what would it eat. If it was an ape, it would most likely be somewhere where there is food and water. Don't see too much there.

I'm convinced there is life on Mars, but doubt this is some creature. I'm with the rock voters.

Someone find this location on google mars, hey if the ape rock isnt on google mars then this thing moved there, meaning its real.

Wow I cant believe this thread has gone on this long....but then again I can.

I love things having to do with Mars anomalies, just look at my avy, but this is not a gorilla. If you look at the picture in a close up, it's a rock. I dont even see a gorilla when I look at this and I tend to see things like this but then I do my own research and find out its just a rock. The only picture I truly believe to be of importance is the one in my avy. I will never see that as a rock.

The supposed gorilla in this pic just doesnt make sense and there are many posts throughout this thread that show why.

Rather than blindly declare that this photo is nothing at all , Im going to explain why this photo is nothing at all important.
First of all , stating that this is a Gorilla , is utterly ridiculous. For a start, as touched on by other posters, gorillas as a species require a lush environment in which to roam, breed and feed. They are incapable of extended survival in a desert location, due to thier thick fur, and thier requirement for moist and plentiful forest flora and so forth.
Second, this image has nothing to recommend it for further investigation. When you rack it up next to the age old favourite martian pics, or the pics of the giant face, you can clearly see that this is some form of optical illusion, mostly bought on by the grey look of the photo , and the interesting shape of what is clearly a small boulder.
One thing before I stop this post. I dont think its fair to all the contributors on this site, who toil and toil over thier threads to ensure they are well researched, for folks to post up this nonsense without more than a truely spasmic "IT KINDA LOOKS LIKE A GORILLA!".
With regard to news like this, from the media outlet its from, we just do not need to see this in my opinion. Its just going to a)make us look properly stupid b)confuse the less mentaly well endowed among us and c) muddy the already murky waters of this subject. I mean no offense to the OP, but if we could all focus on information from remotely worthy sources, we might actualy get somewhere !!

Actually this is a rather important topic. Because it shows how easily people are duped into thinking that if something is shaped like something they are familiar with, it IS that thing. When you look at the next statue, house, road, person lazily sitting on a Mars rock, tree, secret base, wrench, and so on (yes, those have all been suggested, and more), remember the gorilla, and how it is very possible that simple rocks of certain shapes, in certain lighting, can be very similar to common objects or animals we are familiar with.
