Two days, I read the policy post by management regarding hate. There was a lot of confusion expressed by members regarding exactly what this means. One thing I, confused as well, took away from it is that managment frowns on rants. Rants are the place where hate, if it exists at all, may be present. Rants are emotion-based and I decided to try harder to express my disagreement with OPs with FACTS, and not emotion, to be on the safe side. Right off the bat in reply to this OP, Mods responded with emotion......NO FACTS were given to dispute the study presented. Now how in the world does this further a topic? Emotional tit-for-tat and the Mods started it all.

Isn't it amazing how the bigger something gets, the more regulation that is incurred! Reminds me of the government!

Thank you. Well put. I think that the people who have problems with gay parents have problems with gay people in general.

I have no problems with gay people myself, but when I was a cab driver, they used to hit on me a lot and I have a big problem with that.

As long as they stay on their side of the fence as it were, it's all good.

Peace

So if it is that bad then why not report it?

There is an alert system for a reason and mods are not immune

Those are brave words. However I never went to school in the USA. I believe that there is homophobia in schools in the USA. It is very endemic. Again I can teach my kids a number of positive perspectives but I also teach them to assess when they may be totally outnumbered. The US is overwhelmingly homophobic. I am not knocking your country. The UK is the same. Why put vulnerable kids at the potential frontline?

Do you know how much I respect those heterosexual couples who make a sober assessment of the current state of the schools and decide not to adopt or even home school?

It only takes a few bullies to make children's life hell.

You think I should report ATS to ATS?

This argument could go on into eternity and the anti-'s are never going to back down or change opinion.

The only things I have learned from this debate are sad things. One is that it seems to be less acceptable to be outwardly gay in certain parts of America that it is here in the UK. Gay marriage seems to be generally frowned upon too and adoption into that family more so in those places. Other places in America seem to be very open and tolerant.

These opinions seem to stem from Christian beliefs in those communities.

Christian beliefs no longer mean peace, love and family in those communities. Once again it is the non Christian, atheist, or non fundamental Christians who again seem to have the tolerance and understanding Jesus supposedly taught.

It seems to me that we can go to war to remove systems like the Taliban because we are afraid they will drag us into the dark ages while all along we are already living in those darkened times in our western countries.

I despair for our future. Forget NWO conspiracies, they seem like teddy bears compared to some of the attitudes I've come across on here tonight.

Absolutely agree. I think in general gay = bad to some people. It's a shame I probably won't be alive the day it is accepted truly. Glad to say I got to see some marriages take place

Don't get me wrong I am not saying I agree with you but if you truly feel that way is stopping you?

They said themselves they are members first.

Honestly though I see just as much heated emotion coming from both sides of this

Thank you. That's the best answer I've gotten yet. Love is a positive emotion and should not be regulated.

TTTP also had a good point in that when it comes to sex, there are other female family members to turn to for advice.

Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Well, I don't think it's as bad as it could be. I am saying that it could get worse if gone unchecked.

I really see no sense in notifying the Mods that ATS is venturing down a bad road and mimicking the US government.

Wow, I must have never been a child then?

I always prided myself as 'the outsider' (for better or worse) since preschool. You xtians are amazingly 'naive'.

Here is the way I see it. Love is intangible. Not concrete...how do we put concrete rules on the intangible?

Now this is bordering on psychotic.

Hmmm. So, serial killers are falsely labeled, their disorder isn't "genetic" -- serial killers are made, not born.

But of course everyone else is just born that way. All except the serial killers.

Propaganda, keep it coming I am finding it quite entertaining.

...in my previous post, the keys words / phrases were:
...1st paragraph - "appear to prove" --- and --- "extreme-minded"...
...2nd paragraph - "the studies SUGGEST" --- and --- "more than likely"...

...neither my post or the studies i was speaking of emphatically state causation but, rather, SUGGEST causation... if you dont understand the difference between stating a causation emphatically and suggesting a causation, a dictionary might help... good luck...

Come on OP, come out and say it. You hate gays. Either that, or they make you uncomfortable. I wonder why. Have you ever been attracted by the same sex? It says in the Bible, "my mansion has many rooms." Maybe you should try opening some of your doors.

How does trying to single out moderators opinions as somehow being wrong when they express them further a topic, exactly?

On a discussion board people discuss things, and express their opinions. Sometimes those opinions are based on emotions. Sometimes they are based on facts. If ATS insisted that every post had to be purely factual then I'd estimate that 80% of the posts would need to be removed.

That having been said, if you are not happy with moderators posts in this thread then use the complain/suggestion button that is found on the left hand side of your account settings screen. You post will be reviewed by moderators who are not active participants as members in this thread.

Don't despair! I wasn't alive back when, but have studied a lot about the times of extreme racism when black people weren't even allowed on buses or in toilets that were for white people.

Imagine that being the case today with gay people? If racism has changed so radically, who's to say something won't change with homophobia? More people are exposed to gay people in their everyday lives that they should be desensitzed to it and not so scared like the xeno feeling, and in the future this will spread because it is only logical.

...my first post clearly stated "extreme-minded fundamentalist christians" - which is not inclusive of all christians... your over-reactions COULD SUGGEST that you believe all christians are extreme-minded fundamentalists - so ya might wanna watch that... have a nice day...

I have also worked in a inner city youth clubs.

Have you never heard the homophobia on the football terraces.

And I am not a Xtian.
