The WG says the BG offered something, but the BG denies it. You assume that the WG was not making that up or twisting the BG's words because you are clearly biased to believing what a WG says. Well, I happen to believe the BG when he says "I didn't offer you sh**"

When listening to the ENTIRE conversation and trying to imagine what the events were that preceded the recorded events, this is what I think is far more believable:

1) Both BG and WG got on the bus at the same time. While at the bus station, the WG asked another BG to spit-shine his shoes, and the BG we see on the bus heard him say that and felt the racist tension arise.

2) Both men get on the bus, the WG sitting in the front, and the BG going to the back. As the BG passes the WG, he mutters under his breath "why does a brotha gotta spit-shine yo shoes?"

3) The WG hears this and gets up to go back and confront the BG. For him to ask any BG to spit-shine his shoes is a degrading thing to do, and yet he boldly marches back to do it.

4) Before we actually hear what they say the conversation centered around the transit system, and clearly the BG was not talking in an offended tone. He was genuinely trying to express some thoughts about "transit" to the WG. The WG didn't want to hear none of that, and said "Let's back to business." We have to ask... what business was he talking about? The business of getting a chance to pummel some BG?

So, no, you have not correctly understood the TRUE dynamics of what was going on there.

It's highly unlikely that EGB did start the argument and fight. You don't see many 60+ year olds starting fights with young 'gangster' type people very often. Especially if they have a load of friends with them, even if they are girls.

If he did start it, why did he walk away? If he wanted something out of it he wouldn't just back off.

If that black guy is sad enough to even assualt the old man, then he really does deserve what he gets.

If the old man started on me i'd just ignore him and tell him to F**K off or something. I wouldn't go over and smack him.

Your 'analysis' is irrelevant. Both guys had opportunities to just back down and leave well enough alone. Neither one did, although its notable that the old man was not the one who initiated the physical confrontation. This is a perfect example of how 99.9% of all fights start, with two people too stubborn to just let it go. There was no 'victim' here.

After watching the video a couple times I can safely say that the black guy was taunted by the white guy and lured into the situation.

Apparently, when the black guy walked past the white guy he muttered something about spit-shining shoes. One can only surmise that he saw a black guy on the street doing shoes and felt the frustration of always seeing the black man shining the white guy's shoes.

EBM was confused and defended himself, hell he went back to the front of the bus. It was only Amba-Lamps who kept getting up to go and further antagonize EBM.

WG was in the front of the bus and the BG "walked past him" as he went to the back. Well then, the WG must have come back to join the guy since he was sitting right back there with him. Then later, the BG tells the WG to "take his a** BACK UP THERE" to the front of the bus, which is obviously where he came from.

So, what is the problem? The sections you underlined clearly prove my point... if the WG had not started off sitting in the front seat that he went to, the BG never would have said the word "back" when he told him to get back up there.

Also, if both men had originally sat in the back of the bus, the BG could not have "walked past" the WG.

Sorry, but I truly do think you are totally missing what is going on in that bus.

Inciting to violence is a crime, and if it can be shown that a first punch was greatly provoked by verbal taunting, no charge of battery will occur.

A white man asking a black man to spit-shine his shoes is certainly a good way to start a situation. The white guy said "you offered" and the "black guy flatly denied it." Do you know why I believe the black guy? Because clearly the very thought of shining a white man's shoes makes the black guy sick to his stomach, so obviously he did not offer to do such a thing. That is clearly the white guy lying or twisting something that was said.

By the way, I'm as white as they come, in case anyone thinks different. I just know racial prejudice when I see it, even when it's cleverly hidden by people who try to manipulate the law.

Watch the movie Pacific Heights sometime to gain an understanding of how this works... and then you can see how the real world operates... with a great deal of cunning and deceit!

Wearing a shirt that says "I AM a mother fu**er" is not exactly a typical 60+ year old grandpa type. And that guy didn't back off. When the black guy put his glasses back on that showed he didn't want to continue anything. He told the white guy to go back to his original seat up front. The white guy did it because he knew he had to give the guy a little space and then taunt him some more.... which it did.

When the white guy shouted "when I see tough guys like you I slap the sh** out of them!" that was carefully calculated to elicit the response that it did. Shouting that kind of thing to someone who is far away is just the kind of thing that provokes intense feelings of indignation.

In no way did the white guy "back off" as you say. He merely played the game skillfully, knowing that by giving the black guy some space he would appear weak, and that appearance of weakness, combined with strong verbal attack, would be enough to light the black guy up.

Are you people really that ignorant of how psychology works, or how more advanced mental processes work? The white guy was 100% in control of that entire situation, and the black guy got played 100%.

Nor should there be any charges against either man. Again, as I said, there is no victim here. Both men had ample opportunity to break off from the verbal confrontation, but neither one could leave well enough alone. There's an old saying about sticks and stones that applies here.

It was *just* a fight. They happen all the time for similarly illogical reasons.

It's funny because a younger person picked a fight with an old person and got their teeth knocked in... and okay amba lampz had me in stitches too (but to be fair it's not easy to enunciate with a busted mouth)

If a young white skater dude picked a fight with an elderly black man, and the black man defended himself like EBG did.. it would be equally as funnnyyyyyyyyyyyy.

The younger guy took a swing at the wroooong guy.. that's it that's all... it's funny when ANYONE underestimates who they're swinging on! I know you guys out there have seen these instances in real life... someone throws a weak jab, doesn't phase the opponent, and then the attacker is swiftly dropped in one punch and out cold for the next 5 minutes. Usually happens about 3/4th the way through a party when people are completely sloshed. Asshats getting dropped are funny, its okay to laugh!

This is not that unusual, Congrats to EBM but I hear about 70 something ex US Army, US Marines, etc kicking peoples butt all the time. There was one incident here on Long Island about 4 years back where a US Army Korean War vet beat the crap out of a guy trying to rob a 7-11.
