1) Using HTTP Proxy does not keep you any safer

2) You obviously lost DNS for a period, but the sites you were able to get to were cached either locally or by the proxy if it was of the caching variety, i.e. Squid.

3) So typical of Mac users and even of the support people at Apple to suggest that you REINSTALL the OS to fix something like a DNS problem!? WTF?

Totally incorrect.

They are capable of being controlled remotely and, sure, it may use the public Internet plumbing to a degree, but they do not REQUIRE the Internet in order to produce and store energy. Think about how absurd that sounds.

The power they store then travels on electrical lines to other facilities to usage by all of us - no Internet required.

with all the warnings about how we are nowhere near as prepared as we should be for a cyber attack, I find it kinda creepy that they are running a drill on this now. they ran a drill on airplanes as missiles on 9/11 and they were running a drill in london when they were attacked as well.

Don't forget the San Francisco bombing aswell. Looks like a false flag is coming I wonder if its going to be from Iran this time?

Hmmm?

Hey I was going to say that. Just watch it will "really" happen at the exact same time.

Silly but funny thread here ^^

If someone wan't to shut down Internet, you only need to attack the DNS supernodes, so the name of a site can no longer resolved to an IP Adress.

If you have the IP of a site, you can still access then, but how many people know that? -> 74.125.39.106

Root Mainservers for DNS:

Don't take em down! Hopefully no terrorist reads this

There seems to be some general confusion with this thread. The Internet is not being taken down or shut off. This is a drill to test and study the effectiveness of departments on handling a massive DDoS. Your banking, work and pr0n sites will all be fully accessible come Feb 16. However as history has shown us there have been numerous "coincidences" as related to government run drills.

With the Internet shut down we lose all the US wind power.

99% of the wind turbines in the US are controlled through the Internet.

Some other power plants are also controlled through the Internet.

We need in the US to build a special Internet for critical infrastructure to protect it from attack from outside the US.

Wind power is a hyped up joke green scam anyways, it doesn't even supply that much power and funny thing it takes so much energy to build a wind turbine than it can save over how many years.

All I can say is we should all be prepared for another false flag attack like 9/11. So the powers that be can implement more control through scaring people.

I used to contract my services to Datacenters in California, there are always tons of attacks usually DDOS and Synflood they originate from all over the globe. Usually the large attacks are from Turkey, China, Yugoslavia, Russia. Sometimes there would be a co-op effort that would involve players from the United States as well.

I remember this whole Internet Security thing with Obama, from what I gathered sometime last year that Obama created a new cabinet to handle Cyber Terrorism and has placed a switch to shut off Internet in this country if we were attacked so it would halt any effort. I think that is too extreme, since like everyone else I pay out the whazoo for good broadband. I know I will be keeping my computer off Tuesday for many reasons. I know they always sneak little things here and there on so called "Testing" Anyone ever read about the "Spanish Flu"? Maybe that will be my first thread on here hahahaha

I don't know Sofi, you can see from this other thread of mine that the threat does appear to be real.

Of course, now you have your prefect storm of reasons to do as you suggest.

We seem pretty screwed.

Cyber War: Sabotaging the System. We are under attack!

So they are planning a drill of an attack on the internet, and it's going to escalate into an actual "home-grown" though "government sponsored" terrorist attack, then they will turn off the internet and tell us (by loud speaker? )to stay in our homes until they can evacuate us (via windowless bus) to the fema camps. You may call me paranoid but I really believe they are going to find a use for those fema camps, since they have had them there since the 80's
But not to kid around, the threat is very real because we have a government that isn't.

Or all of those prison cars sitting in the yard at Gunderson Steel in Portland!

I would have to say, "Martial Law" will be acted upon in the near future, just not on this test. But, I would carefully monitor all OS updates if it hasn't been already slipped in on ya!

Just a thought:

They take away our methods or organization and communication and they take away our defense for organizing any kind of revolt, revolution or uprising.

With things heating up I'm not saying this is happening right now but with a proactive tyrannical government, it wouldn't surprise me if they pull our means or organizing before we get the chance to do something about it all.

S&F by the way.

Dude, Americans really need to stop shouting "Hey our defenses our down on ____ for drills!

I think it was pointed out before what happens on drill days.

Convenient timing... hmm.

This is just a thought... but with war about to kick off in the gulf who would it benefit, if the usual way for ordinary people around the globe to communicate with each other suddenly wasn't there?

Another chess piece being moved perhaps?

This is just silly. This is not going to happen. As a matter of fact, this article is probably just a test to see how gullable people still are, even after all the nonsense of fema camps and plastic coffins.

There are too many corporations that would loose too much money if internet shut down. That's why it will not happen. They need us; they need our money.

Pretty sure it was a dns problem, but the sites that were loading were not cached. I did live searches. It was just blocking certain sites. Anyhow, it was my decision to re-instal as that is easy and fast with snow leopard, it takes 15 minutes and doesn't effect user settings, programs or data.

Thanks, my point was that this was what a cyber attack would feel like, not that one happened to me. Thats what the HAHA was for.
