Think for a moment that there are stories other than yours, and that there are dreams and ambitions perhaps greater than your own. Now sustain this thought indefinitely. Consider, now, why your life is worth living in comparison to the lives of these others -- the whole of humanity -- and reason in way that does not resemble an excuse or an appeal to emotion. If you cannot justify your existence, I implore you: do not exist.

Immortality huh? Well, the only way I'll see that being possible is if technology advances enough. Let's look at it this way, what is it that makes us, us? It is our memories. Without our memories and everything contained in it, we wll not be who we are. We wouldn't even be able to remember who we are without our memories. In oder for immortality to become reality, technology must advance to the point that all the memories in our brains can be put into a computer, backed up if you will, and held there once our bodies have gone. Then it would be as simple as cloning the person a new body and uploading the memories into their brain. Would this work? I don't know. Would that person even be the same person they were? Who knows. And then comes the question about, what if we have a soul, what happens to it? We won't know until we actually try it out. But of course this is all just speculations on my part. I am not an immortal, I am simply a Dragon Lord.

We probably do have a Soul. So even if the brain is destroyed, the memories remain somewhere in form of energy or whatever. But the thing is we don't know what is after death. I heard one day an interesting theory about the after death. Simple: only the people that evolved their mind survive, the others melt in the neutral energy. The point is: death could be the end. If there is a way to avoid it, i will.

That cosmetic stuff? Not for me. It changes your skin with a lot of side effects but you still age. Useless imho.

To you trolls, i won't even bother to reply anymore. Sad to see how your mind is so limited you can't even start to imagine an instant that impossible stuffs are possible to others.

Excellent way of putting things into perspective. If everyone would do that with all their sincerity, just once in their life, we would all be much happier.

To the OP again... conciousness is a common trait amongst individuated forms of physical existence. First understand you have no physical reality and all your senses tell you, is in fact illusion, and concious intelligent infinity is indeed the only reality then immortality will be yours, and mine.

Well if you want that angle on it then read this amazing biography of someone who achieved immortality:

davidgodman.org...

He made multiple physical bodies.

It's called bilocation in the West -- D. Scott Rogo's book "Miracles" is an excellent overview of Western bilocation.

Ah this makes it all so much more understandable !

Thank you.

For a second there i thought you were delusional or something.
From this perspective i totally agree with you. It would be bliss, to be able to learn and accomplish to excel in all your talents. To really do every miniature curiosity and interest what life will present you with.

Where can i sign up ?
Just kidding
Immortality is to long for me.

Is there a goal a limit after you can say, i'm done. Now i can die.
Or is it just the overwhelming urge to address all what life gives you ?

I just want to learn know experience and understand.
Above all this i believe there is some sort of afterlife. This naive belief makes me already immortal.

Strange really.

It is like being on one side of a coin yet another side will still be the same coin.
People always forget. Every coin also has a side to it, usually honoring God on this small rim of coin.
You want to take that side of the coin. I envy you, but beware ! It is also the most devious side. It can make you regret ever wanted to wander it.

Good luck with your search !

I did a thread about something similar to your lines of thinking. However, technology will have to catch up to us.

It is Here

Paul described to Timothy that the Lord God "...the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality. 1 Timothy 6:15-16

All other beings are derived and while they have all been given the opportunity for 'continuity'...
...none have 'immortal' stuff within themselves.

The 'world of men' lost access to perpetual 'continuity'...
...however, immortality for the 'world of men' is offered as a gift.

"...but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 2 Timothy 1:9-10

Most people reject this only access to immorality for several reasons...
...it seems too simple...
...they want some objective proof before committment...
...they feel they must do something for it...
...they don't believe the Lord exists or that He is self-existent...
...it means accepting the fact that they are flawed derived beings and the humiliation is too great for them to bear.

But there is no other way...
...either accept the gift or add your body to the pile of human 'road-kill'...
...which will happen to all of us here within about fifty years from now.

Paul said in a letter to the Romans "...by the offence of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one (Jesus) the free gift came upon all men."

Immortality is offered to you as a gift...you only have to accept it.

I'm sorry have ya seen it happen? Have you found anything outside of religious stories to lead you at all to believe this is possible?

And what makes you think it IS possible?

Really sorry, but didn't I ask you a question first? It was you who so firmly claimed: "I am sorry to tell you that you won't be getting it. It simply isn't possible". So it would be coherent to firstly explain what you stated yourself. It wasn't me asserting there is immortality in the first place.

Firstly, Physical immortality is impossible. Sure, there are ways to extend your body's life line but not forever. Eventually we all expire and cease to exist in the physical realm(except of course a corpse
). Secondly, Why would you want to become immortal. I'd think it would be more pain than anything else. Imagine seeing your kids die, then their kids die, then their kids and so forth. Out living everyone dear to you, then eventually the world. No one was ment to bear that much sorrow, Its probably also the reason we all die. To end the suffering.

Edit for grammar.

I was thinking that the kind of physical immortality where you could be buried by a volcanic eruption and have to wait in the earth until the sun goes red giant and melts you out would be very bad indeed. I'd say it comes with it's potential pitfalls. Those who wish should exercise all due care on the outside chance they come true. Then you could be wishing upon a star to free you from your self-imposed curse.

I have heard reports of encounters with immortals, or at least very long lived individuals. These are all hearsay and I do not vouch for their veracity, however I am quite fascinated by them since they all seem to share a common core of detail.

1. These old ones are described as being of indeterminate age and gender. They don't look young or old but sort of both -- and they seem to display a number of androgynous characteristics.

2. They are generally average and tend to blend into the crowd unless you interact with them in private, then they have a strong presence in the sense of an actor's stage presence that dominates the room.

3. Then tend to live simply, usually in simple rural settings or urban environments that we would consider to be lower middle or blue collar. Their possessions are often second hand or well used.

4. Then tend to work at what we often consider agrarian or blue collar service jobs like waitress or cab driver because they love the interaction they have with nature or with people in general.

5. When asked about their lifestyle, the answers tend to be the same. The purpose of life is not to accumulate possessions or to achieve things, it is to live and experience the moments of life to the fullest -- sitting under a tree listening to birds, making love to someone, enjoying a good meal with lots of laughter, watching a child grow.

I suspect I'm not alone in being surprised by these characteristics. But then when I think of it, if I was immortal, the acquiring possessions and achievements as goals in my life starts to lose its urgency when I have all the time in the world. If I did have all the time in the world, I probably would spend it doing those things that are important to me now -- spending time with family and friends, enjoying nature.

Anyway, I plan to live forever. So far, so good.
