I still think the movement is odd at around the 1m58s mark.

I see what you are talking about here, the object appears to shuffle left to right a bit for a couple of seconds. The cameraman has a case of the shakes though and I would attribute it to that before anything else, he could have shifted sideways or something.

I still think it's a plane, however.

Not just with UFOs, but with ANYTHING.

I would keep that in mind friends

I said that it "has" to be, because i have cant say what it is? For all i know it could be a homing pigeon with a lantern sending an S.O.S?

i know what a plane looks like

No, you have a fixed preconception of what a plane looks like.

A plane does not always look the same depending on your perspective, the distance, it's direction, and even atmospheric conditions can play a role, like scintillation, which in this case makes the lights on the plane appear to change colors.

It's definitely a fascinating video, but makes one wonder why ANY E.T. craft would need flashing lights. Seems really archaic. The only reason I can imagine is that it WANTS to be noticed. However it looks like from the coastline that might have been a very barren location.

Anyways... I'm stumped.

Seriously.. some of you see landing lights like these "all the time?" I find that very hard to believe. I've seen no plane with landing lights this bright. At that brightness, it would be fairly close. You'd be able to EASILY see the wings of the aircraft, even if seen from the front. In Denver, I see a ton of planes every single day. NONE of them look like that. It also moves from left to right. If the plane was actually banking or turning, the light would change in brightness, yet it doesn't change at all. With the filter on, it doesn't look anything like an airplane. And then it simply vanishes? Planes also don't have the tendency to do this.

At least put more thought into it. It's sad how quickly people, who think they are incredibly clever, dismiss sightings. Single bright light? Landing light. Glowing light going across the sky? Chinese lanterns. And so on.

I'd say CGI well before I'd say this is a plane's landing light.

No plane could hold that position for that long. Yes, there is some lateral movement (left to right); but the object remains essentially stationary relative to the observer for much too long — the lighting conditions deteriorate as the terminator recedes, but the object remains, obviously self-illuminated.

Show me footage of an airplane doing the same thing for this duration while holding such a relatively stationary position. I mean, if it's so easy to explain as sunlight reflecting off of a plane, then there must be footage of an airplane doing the same thing somewhere, right?

I've seen airplanes in the sky at sunset many times and it looks nothing like this footage.

I'm not saying it's "unexplainable," but I am saying that an airplane reflecting sunlight is not a valid explanation.

Just once, I wish one of these camcorder-toting witnesses would be using a tripod. Just zoom in on the object and leave it there, nice and steady, for several minutes... Leave it there until the apparition ended, anyway.

Of course, nobody is that lucky... Well, I take that back. I've seen some pretty interesting tripod-mounted footage before, but only very rarely.

Too long based on what? your preconceptions?

I've seen this happen many a time. Virtually every day in fact, since I live in sight of an approach to a major airport, and before the final landing phase, the planes are heading directly towards me until they turn to line up with the runway. Ive seen the whole process, right in front of my eyes, and yes, they can hang in the sky without much apparent motion for many minutes while they are doing this.

Then as they get close, and make their turn, you can see that they are aircraft, especially once the landing gear comes down.

Yes. There is no sun-light reflecting from the aircraft here, I agree. What we see is the lights on the aircraft.

If you live near an airport, it's not that hard to see once you find the right spot.

I'd film it myself if I had a proper video camera, or one of the newer DSLRs that can record video. If anyone here is in the UK (south east), and wiling to meet up/lend me a camera... U2U me.

I wonder why this poster edited the original video. Maybe because of what can be seen around 2:50?

Thats not what i want so dont go pointing fingers at people editing footage, i aint one of those muppets who believe every single thing is a ufo, and sitting editing videos to prove his next door neighbours wicker basket is a ufo??? Seriously!

Well, unless ET's or top secret black op's are just so incredibly nice to use Navigation lights, I'd have to say there is no question that it is a conventional aircraft.

Look at your OP vid at 1:07 and then towards the end, and also Phages vid.

Settle down.
I was talking about the person who posted the edited video on youtube. If I meant you I would have referred to the "OP".

OK the video isn't yours, no one was accusing you of that.

This thread, however, is yours—it'd be nice if you edited your first post to reflect that the question has been settled and giving Phage the credit he deserves for finding out the original video.
