Chavez Brings the House Down in Copenhagen

“our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell....let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.” He won a standing ovation.

You gotta love who the people are "praising" Chavez's idea of worldwide socialism, ...

The anti-capitalist theme was picked up on by Mr Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s veteran President

Of course the president of Zimbabwe would LOVE for the rest of the world to help his countries economy, ...

Zimbabwe

Mugabe has been in power since the country's long war for independence. His rule has been characterized by economic mismanagement, hyperinflation, and widespread reports of human rights abuses

As would the representative from Tuvalu, ...

The lead negotiator for the small island nation of Tuvalu, the bow-tie wearing Ian Fry, broke down as he begged delegates to take tough action.
******SKIP******
”The fate of my country rests in your hands,” he concluded, as the audience exploded with wild applause.

This country only exists on hand-outs already, ...

Tuvalu

Tuvalu has almost no natural resources, and its main form of income consists of foreign aid. Virtually the only jobs in the islands that pay a steady wage or salary are with the government.

Well I sort of see your point but it would be nice the phrase "capitalism" only applied to private (non-governmetn) ownership of companies like it is supposed to. I'd much rather correct people when they claim the USA has been capitalist. I believe the USA was capitalist at some point but it clearly switched to fascist/corporatism.

Fascism and corporatism is not the same thing. A lot of people erroneously conclude so because of mainstream propaganda which constantly makes such stupid comparisons.

I mean really www1 and ww2 are long gone, so why keep beating the same dead horse? Maybe because jews, communists and gypsies can't forget and have a big axe to grind?!

I think Chavez and his socialism buddies should meet
in Copenhagen and trash capitalism every month.
At least he is honest. Chavez doesn't hide behind lies.

It looks like Obama is going to cut and run out of there.

Obama should challenge him to a duel. That would be the best way to settle the differences between us and Ven.

For capitalism to function properly there has to be an honest, just, and moral government behind it and the capitalists themselves have be possess those same qualities.

But corporatism and capitalism is almost the same thing. Ultra-Capitalism IS corporatism! How can any capitalism government be "honest, just and moral" when capitalism is all about private elitism? A few powerful people and/or entities control all the resources and we all become their slaves.

If mass-murderers (Mugabe) and totalitarian-dictators (Chavez) hate Capitalism, it must be something really good.

Chavez is not a dictator as he was elected by the people twice. The wealthy landowners of venezuela have teamed up with ultra-capitalist america to forceably remove him.

Are you aware that 5% of south america's population controls 90% of the land and 95% work for that pathetic 5%? Few people have the nerve to redistribute land/resources and chavez is one of them. I congratulate him 100%!

The ultra-capitalist dictators of the world hate people like chavez, the iranian shiite leader and kim jong of north korea because THEY ACTUALLY CARE FOR THE PEOPLE, whereas everywhere else they DON'T! I am not saying I like dictatorships because that is not true, but 18th-19th-20th century european imperialism, which unfortunately rooted itself in usa, needs to be uprooted and the resources equally distributed among everyone.

Sometimes it takes a conspiracy to uproot another conspiracy.

did you just say what i think you said?

wow yeah ya did...

Chavez is not a dictator as he was elected by the people twice.

and how long are his terms? is there any limit? Seems tome he's been elected 3 times...just kind of whenever an election seems right...maybe when he has no opposition...or when he has the capacity to steal the whole thing....

yes, I've seen the banned documentary..."the revolution will not be televised."

And your point is? I don't see many other "leaders" trying to take down the global warming scandal. Do you ever question why the people are always against imperialism but their leaders are not? Why is that so?

Because money can buy any election you want and corrupt business leaders know that and take full advantage 99% of the time. Socialism and Communism was all about the proletariate class taking over and a fair/honest government looking over everything. Communism has failed but socialism has potential if and when people stop back-stabbing it...

We don't have socialism anywhere, ONLY PSEUDO-SOCIALISTIC CORPORATISM, since governments and central banks are private corporations to begin with.....

Interesting but while people in the US keep turning a blind eye to what is going on with our nations capitalism and the rise of elite controlled wealth, I have to say that sometimes Chavez actually make sense, but hey because he is tag as a monster and a dicator we most listen to those that tells us how great is our nations and how bad is nations like Venezuela and lets keep bending so our crocks in power keep shoving their version of capitalism up our rear ends.

People that never listen never learn.

Just because Chavez is communist, or a dictatorship doesn't mean he can not speak the truth in some matters and issues.

Marg, this reminds me of a movie i saw a long time ago.
It's called Other People's Money starring Danny DeVito and
Gregory Peck.
This movie is more than just entertainment.
It's a great lesson in Capitalism.
Rent or buy the DVD.
---------------------------------------
Larry the liquidator has a great speech about New England Wire & Cable.
He also yells at his lawyers about receiving a TRO.
-Temporary Restraining Order -
We hear a warning about communism .
"When capitalism screws up the communists come out of the bushes!"

I seen the movie, trust me is a good movie, but what is going in the US right now is just short of nothing but dictatorship against the working class, we should be on a civil unrest by now, but hey we have been so drilled and brain washed that everything is done to us is for the good of the nation (and the wealth holders) that we should just keep bending over and keep taking it like good littler patriots.

Unfortunately to many, Socialism is a dirty word.

It's pathetic how "set-in-their-ways" people are.

People like Chavez are villains while Blair, Obama and other "leaders" (past and present) are hailed as hero's and progressives... :shk:

Chavez puts political opponents to prison, disowns businesses, has competition assasinated - and stops free media.

The biggest target is always the easiest to hit.

It is true that Capitalism can lead to exploitation.

It is also true that it doesn't have to.

The problem is we have people who spend the bulk of their energies trying to confuse definitions and concepts to make an intelligent choice impossible for any but those who have had the opportunity to study the true nature of 'isms' and of course, economics.... the new quasi-religion of corporate capitalists everywhere.

Personally, ,and I know this may sound ignorant to the edumacated high-falutin book learned folks out there.... I think the problem is that capitalism was never meant to be a functional component of governance.

The banking elite of the world made it so..., because they run the casino.

Your argument is a moot point. The second a free market becomes regulated and bound by laws, it's no longer a free market.

Yes he does, but you are forgetting what our nation does around the world in the name of freedom, the two wars we are fighting base under that same assumption, if you look at that then we are not better than Chavez, at least he has not invaded the middle east yet.

But what is going in our nation is can not be denied, capitalism in America is only benefiting the few.

Can you imagine if Chavez ran the entire planet that way?
One large monopoly.

I can see Chavez coming to the same end as Benito Mussolini.

I like and dislike chavez..i have always agreed with what he has said, regarding capitlasim..i dislike him when he goes to public speeches denouncing yankees go home get out, ect..thats racist. a freind at work, is from guatemala. REALLY nice guy. HE tells me sometimes, in venezuela, yuor allowed a 3 minute shower* thats hugo chavez's law. ANyting voer 3 minutes, (governmnt times you i guess) and yuor in big trouble. pay hefty fines. I dont know how true that is, but if it is, according to this guy at work, its kinda like a movie i like. Its abuot af uture prison system, i forget the actors name..one movie, he played a blind guy who was in vietnam, and learned martial arts, his cane, is a sword, helps a young kid from thugs. He plays in this movie. In the movie, in this prison yuor given a color name as yur identy,a nd a neckbracelet that explodes if yuo escape. Their was s cene, were inamte tells him " yuo have 5 gallons of water a day to use, time for a s*&t, shave, and a really short shower"* makes me think of that scene...
