My thoughts exactly - its great reading everyones viewpoint. Ok there are a few that really don't want to think or talk/debate any other possibilities and that's their right (as it is mine to pose the questions)...

Heck I've now been accused of starting a thread which is the digital equivalent of book-burning - lol! Come one - read a bit more, I'm probably going to buy this game (but skip that level).... or @ImaginaryReality1984 :

I will never understand why people such as yourself try to make out that if you can do something in a game then you can do it in real life.

I have not said it does? If I have given the impression then I have miss-communicated... I'm raising the question 'could it'? I think for most then no, but for perhaps those that are mentally susceptible then does it do damage?

At everyone going on about the movies being worse - I agree (I can't watch mess-with-your-mind movies like Saw etc. Give me a comedy any day).

Fascinating seeing how people react to this and how narrow minded we can be (myself included).

It's everyone's option and right to skip that level and if you do, I do not necessarily think you're taking away from the experience of the gameplay. If you can understand the plot and time line without doing the mission and you feel it's an unnecessary scene, all the power to you to skip it my man.

Just like when people attempt to compare a Hollywood film to a conspiracy, when all in all, it's just a movie. And this, is just a video game foorrrr entertaaaainment.

Again, true and I guess raises another point: It's amazing at what 'entertains' us... or scary.

Well if you're dumb enough to take a video game seriously then you should check yourself into an insane clinic.

I have the mental state to realize Call of Duty is a freaking video game. You'd have to be a complete loon to think "hey! I'm going to go out and shoot people now because this game makes it good and fun."

The world needs to quit being so freaking sensitive. The PC crowd's turning the world into a bunch of pus... wimps.
You cant even speak your mind anymore without being arrested or losing your job.

Ive played Modern Warfare 2, all the way through and actually laughed when we got to the part that allowed you to skip that part of the game if you were "offended"
Give me a break
Yes, i participated in the wholesale slaughter of computer generated airport patrons and it was no different than shooting the "enemies" on the other levels of the game, I thoroughly enjoyed every last second of it.

What about Grand Theft Auto? where you can walk through the street killing random civilians for no reason, or take a "hooker" into the back seat of your car, where was the "outrage" over that?

lol, you're making no sense at all? Or at least my quote + your comment!

I said it's amazing what entertains us (e.g. we find killing or hacking people to death entertaining), or it's scary that we humans find that entertaining?

KitKat - there ya go

Oh, sorry about that, misunderstood. If it's not entertaining to you then don't bother with it. Why complain about it if it doesn't interest you? That's just going to create a problem that doesn't have to be...seems very very childish.

For me i would never play these games, it is totally a simulator, no matter if your inclined to do anything, your being desensitised to violence and the heart in your chest has total apathy.

These games for me are wrong, and they are too real. When i was a kid, we played 2d games that had nothing to do with real life scenarios, other than blocky commodore or spectrum graphics.

You cannot say this is not a simulator, and why does the army use simulators for there training, it brings apathy into the hearts of those playing, towards others.

I just cannot play 3rd person shooters, and i am glad. But seeing the rush for this game, is amazing, its like your all on drugs or something, just so eager for the next 3rd person shooter, lol.

I think you're completely missing the point here. What I think he's trying to say is:

It's astounding and scary what humans find entertainment in; mass murdering people and killing innocents for fun.

Entertainment is just what it is...entertaining. It's not real life and it's not something normal people act upon. Nor do I think he was complaining, instead simply trying to engage in more thought provoking conversation on the topic of what we as humans find entertaining. I could be dead wrong, but that's up to AlwaysQuestion....

I really dont care for the small multiplayer matches, coming from 32v32 battlefield series and 50vs50 arma2 (pc games) 8v8 etc. pales in comparison. I also dont like the shift to short single player campains this generation. With all the money they make they could at least set up dedicated servers for larger multiplayer matches.

Thats why i rented this one instead of buying. If console players got a taste of the larger matches there would be no going back.

Well - for PC gamers - it's a dumbed down version of the first CoD: MW - with a shorter SP and a worse plot.

The MP part of the game is unnaceptable for the PC platform - and has already been filled with game hacks thanks to the exclusion of dedicated servers and player kick ability.

Infinity Ward can kiss my friggin' a$$!

As for the "terrorist" level of the game - I thought that was actually pretty bold of them and does accurately portray the horrible ethical dilema of an unchecked Military Industrial Complex where all means are justified by the end.

As for violence in games - many times in GTA: Vice City I have gone on hideous, vicious, bloodthirsty, rampages - to blow of a little steam - and I actually think it significantly lowers my chance of ever going postal in real life.

But like ALL adult media - some people can handle it and some can't - doesn't really matter the form of it.

Perhaps one day people will need to be licenced to play video games or watch adult media - but for now we still have freedom in this country and I'll fight to protect it until the end!

I've heard a lot on this thread about the comparisons between GTA:4 and the "no russian" mission from MW2.

I personally cannot make a connection between the two. The sole purpose of the No Russian mission is to kill innocent civs. You aren't really given an option, you cannot say no.

As for GTA, you have the CHOICE of going on your respective killing spree's and whatnot, however I do not remember any mission, in any gta, where mass murder of innocents is the objective, whereas it is in MW2.

Any thoughts?

Your like the frog in the jar, being slowly boiled. You do not notice what they are doing, and today you turn on tv, and think wicked daily show is laughing at people being blown up.

Why do you think the military uses simulators, it is to make sure, you have no fear of the real life, so it must be close to real life, don't you think, if it works for the military. Of course most will not go out and shoot and kill people, but the apathy inside them, will just make them just a shell of the person they should be.

I see it from teh outside looking in, not as most of you, who are in the middle of it. Thats your choice, i am just saying why i do not like the games.

I was kind of angry that in the airport there were many things missing. There were no children, small animals, little people, very old people, handicaped (or handicapable) and not enough minorities. As far as it being graphic or disturbing i think it is okay, ragdoll physics on a corpse that splats a little blood behind it and leaves a puddle. Nothing special. Saying a game is more violent than others is a marketing strategy nowadays. Kind of like "unrated" movies now, go to block buster almost everymovie that was R rated is unrated when it comes out to DVD.
It is just an attempt to make an illusion of scarcity, wall mart will not carry it and some smaller places will not carry it, and may be "banned or changed" so therefore it is more scarce than all the other games and is worth the 50 bucks.
Dont get confused though, im going to buy this game and play the level where you mow down the crowd over and over but the whole mature rating is a marketing strategy now and in no way effects kids playing the game.

First off, I'm no frog.

Second of all, I don't turn on the Daily Show and think "wicked, people are getting blown up". This is the real world and death is not funny or "wicked".

Third, I understand exactly what they're trying to do in de-sensitizing us. It turns people into more efficient killing machines due to the apathy they get a taste for after 4 hours of killing.

Still, you missed the ENTIRE point of the other post and completely took things out of context and made incorrect assumptions.

I can't wait to pick up my pre-order game tonight and just dis-connect from the real world and engulf myself and direct all my anger and stress I build up daily on some poor soul who will live the fury of having to deal with idiots who work for me and patients that can't understand that if you don't take care of your teeth and you cross breed with your cousins you run a high risk of having a jacked up grill.

I'll start off by saying this games single player campaign was AMAZING.

Now on topic, if you don't like, don't play it. Simple as that. There is clearly a M rating on the game, and I'm not sure if it's the same for the console version but on the PC it warns you and give you the option to skip it.

And I'll exit by saying that violent video games have absolutely no affect on normal people besides giving them something to talk about to others. If it affects someones personality after playing a video game then they must have a pre-existing condition that causes them not to see reality.
