I doubt Israel/US would be stupid enough to fly advanced technological UAVs over Iran knowing full-well the aircraft would be trackable on radar.

Unless they want to start a war with Iran? Or better: have Iran start a war!

US/Israel Government: It was just a unarmed drone to determine if Iran has a nuclear bomb!
Iran Government: It was a violation of our territorial integrity and we will retaliate!
People of both countries: can't we all just get along?

They could have just simply done a Satellite Scan rather than a UAV pass, at least that way there wouldn't be millions of dollars lost in a attempt to see what there doing, only for Iran to bring the recon flights down aswell as giving them technological secrets.

There have been other UFO shoot-downs over the Persian Gulf however, so whoever/whatever is operating in that area cant be too good at it.

Sounds like they could have been some unmanned drones which so often are used by different countries these days, I don't understand why they where seen on radar however I thought most drones where using stealth technologies?

Stealth doesn't mean invisible to Radar, just harder to detect. Iran has a fairly sophisticated air defence network.

Oh man, that was the funniest thing I have read..ever! No, seriously, you should be a comedian, that was soooo funny. I nearly wet myself at the astute and intelligent humour you showed there. Well done!

As for the "mysterious" objects, I am willing to put a big sum of money on them being drones of some kind.

Iran will be mad no matter who it was and could start a war, i wonder if it was alien would they retailate

I hope not, if they were to retaliate everybody would freak. It would unite the whole world which is beautiful but I wouldn't want it to happen because of that, very scary. Watch it be a bird who just flapped out of a gold paint spill. poor bird

Don't you mean a weather balloon, or a Chinese Lantern? No wonder it was so easy to shoot down!

"Shiny Metallic Object" seems like an odd description for an aircraft? Most aircraft are readily identified before they are shot down.

lets all hope it is not an alien craft. we may have just declare war with a superior specie/s.

Interesting little site that states.

The Iranian government has announced that it has ordered its air force to attack UFOs which are being seen near Iranian nuclear facilities in substantial numbers. Air Force Colonel Salman Mahini has said "all anti-aircraft units and jet fighters have been ordered to shoot down the flying objects over Iran's airspace."

This was as of Sept 5th 2008

Yes but don't they fly UAVs when a satellite cannot confirm something they need to know. Example a sat sees something suspicious and they send UAVs to photograph the area actually they send pictures back in real time.

On another point why wouldnt a UAV self distruct if its shoot down?

Well if Iran shot it down, then they are not that superior! I would be scared of setting off an intergalactic war, but if Iran shot one down with weapons that are decades behind what the US is developing, then maybe we are at least in the same ball park as these aliens!

I think we'll all be feeling foolish when it is reveaaled to be an unmanned drone or a satellite or something, but for now, wow, how strange, and damn guys, maybe this is it?

maybe today, disclosure?

Nah, before it's decided what it is, I'll put my money on Israeli Spy Drone.

Ever notice how when ever any nation is near or at the development of atomic power that same nation manages to shoot down a ufo?

I think, they let themselves be shot down on purpose to introduce something into the system.

The pessimist in me says this is something akin to Combat Roach Control, i.e. the brilliant scientists of said nation manage to hack into the alien systems and get the mother load of data, wrong malicious data that can only lead to no good.

The optimist says this is the introduction and maybe things are explained at a certain point of technology.

Either way, that every time a nation goes Atomic this happens is no coincidence.

3 Shiny objects?

Well 'shiny' to me indicates that someone somewhere clapped eyes on these things - maybe after the radar picked them up, but neather the less someone managed to get an eye's on... So who, an Iranian pilot? Some guys on the ground or the sea?

If it was ground based I'm gonna go with UAV's - low and slow - but they don't usually make them shiney do they?

Something about 3 of them, I'm just getting a feeling that these were manned aircraft in a 3 ship, maybe Israel having a sneeky peeky - feeling out the air defences?

I bet Israel would pay a pretty penny to have the use of a few US B-2's right now! - Or even some F-117's... Does Israel have anything like that??

I cant think of a single military craft that is 'shiny and metallic'. I figure they are all painted one way or another, especially anything working over water (good ol corrosion). So... that leaves: a) a specially done up drone to MAKE Iran shoot it down , although no one's claiming the thing, wayward mylar balloons sent up either as a prank, as propaganda, or someone lost them, or a REALLY novel way to test Iran's defenses without sending up an airplane or drone, Or aliens. *insert 50's flying saucer noise here*

...and now this.

At least 7 people have been killed after an unknown type military plane crashed south of Tehran, state media reports.

Maybe they are all a little panicky over there and are accidentally shooting down their own aircraft...

I mean it not unheard for state of the art superpowers to, errrm shoot down the occasional friendly (yes America I am looking in your direction
).

And the Iranian missile defence guys are kinda set up to work totally independently of the chain of command - should that chain be broken.

You know...

This is just another example of how the mainstream media is worthless.

They are an obstacle to mankind's progression.

If this is all true, then I am sure we have only heard the beginning.

7 People ? WTF is up with this story ?

Once again,
THANK YOU ATS!

Even if it were a UFO. The Iranian press would never get that info. Their military would never release that information.

Besides.. I'm leaning more towards "international incident".

hmm, maybe they're some kind of probes; who knows, maybe other countries regularly hunt down simple alien reconnaissance but keep it hushed up

I'm with the theory that the three UFOs are either of Israeli or US origin. Perhaps, they are unmanned drones on a reconnaissance mission of sorts and were discovered by the Iranians? However, extraterrestrial or terrestrial, still a very intriguing story. I wonder what crap storm this story is going to bring when the Iranians connect the dots on the origin of these crafts? Very interesting . . .
